G2G: MY CORE INVESTMENT PRINCIPLE

  • This video deals with my fundamental philosophy of investing : G2G. Stocks go through the BOOM, then there is GLOOM and finally DOOM. BUY Good to Great, AVOID Great to Good
It is a fundamental law of nature that all things have a beginning, a phase of growth and ultimately a decline and end. Businesses, like everything else, are subject to these fundamental laws.
In Indian Philosophy these fundamental pillars are called Brahma (creation), Vishnu (growth and maintenance) and Mahesh (destruction), our interpretation of the S Curve for business cycles
GOOD business to a GREAT business is a money-making journey. This is when they have comparative advantages, a large runway of growth and generate superior returns for shareholders through a mix of earnings and multiple expansion.
Most businesses, once they become GREAT also trade at GREAT Multiples and …then they falter, become too big to grow, valuations surpass reality, competition kicks in or they are disrupted etc.
Our job as investors is ALSO to avoid such painful pitfalls of Great businesses becoming Good businesses.
That's why getting rich and staying rich are both important. Making money and preserving that money that was made and growing it....

Once I find a G2G stock in its 1st leg of GOOD to GREAT journey and add it to my portfolio... *I would never sell it off even in its 2nd leg of journey (from Great to Good).*
Typically, in their 2nd leg they increase their Dividend payouts and continue to reward your holdings! So the GREAT to GOOD phase is also a money-making journey.
I have noticed that generally these companies may lose market share due to increased competition from new players & new technologies... but they are able to upgrade and retain their profitability and continue to have high EPS. *So they turn into high-dividend-paying stocks instead of high-return-stocks!*

G2G isn't it the cardinal rule governing the universe, Ajayji? May I dare to mention other examples like Xerox, Nokia, Mughals, Ottomans, USSR even? Actually you have helped me to expand my horizons of thinking. I can see the supernovas and even black holes following this rule.
Great Ajayji, it seems irrelevant to the context you put in the video though, I feel exalted to reach new horizons of my thought process. I equally am excited to get pushed to experiment new ideas I being attacked by.
Thank you Ajayji to nudge my personal universe.

Stock investing is a business where exit route is easy and less painfull in comparision of other businesses. But problem is we want to buy a stock at yesterday's price if stock price is increased and want to sell it at yesterday's price if stock price is fallen.

Ajay ji, if possible please answer this.
I need an investor's point of view on this.
Aapne kaha tha apni kabootar wali video me, ki Traders need right entry to make it big, and Investors need patience to make it big.
I'm a proponent of using Technical analysis on longer time frame charts(weekly, monthly), because price behaviour is same across all the timeframes, but it's just that lower the time frame more the skill required to time the trades (& stressful volatility too) plus lower the timeframe lower the stay in period thus one looses out on benefits of a stock's compounding.
(Since a good stock move in step ladder form- kuch door chala, kuch der ruka, fir se chala and the cycle continues)
Iske saath fundamental analysis ke naam pe sirf itni common sense ho (based on basic fundamentals measures) ki konsa dhandha/konsi industry me motamati kuch locha nhi dikh rha.
Q-1 Will this above mentioned approach not help us to get the best of both worlds? Where am I going wrong?
Q-2 Is trike se do naavo pe savaar hone se kahi accident na ho jaaye😅, toh kin baato ka dhyaan rakhna chahiye?
P.S Thanks for all your wisdom sharing.
You talk sensible & no-nonsense and perspective building stuff. 🙏

      Bhanu ji,
You have taken effort to understand and ask. I appreciate that. I will answer this question of yours in a detailed video. But let me give you a simple answer to this.
One Stock went from Rs 10 to 100.
In this journey the stock too a simple path, for simplicity ( for traders :-) , one intermediate top @ 50, and one intermediate bottom @ 30
      So the path was :
      Rs 10 to Rs 50
      Rs 50 to Rs 30
      Rs 30 to Rs 100
A : For a long term investor the total profit was Rs 90. Number of decisions : 1 (Buy at 10)
B: For the perfect trader who caught the entry, intermediate exit and intermediate entry : Total Profit 110 . Number of decisions 3
C: For the perfect Long Short Trader : Total Profit : 130. Number of decisions : 5
D: For the trader who does options also over and above this, total profits could be 150 to 200 also. Number of decisions : 5 to 100
E: Then there are day traders and other type of traders who make 2 to 3 % in each trade and get out ... say they make Rs 3 in each move and do about 10 trades in the move from Rs 10 to 100. So they will make Rs 30 with 10 decisions in a stock that went from Rs 10 to 100
      Bhanuji,
You need to know WHO YOU ARE? You know that best, no onebody else does...
If you are D... who understands fundamentals and timing and charts and everything, you will make 200 in the same stock making 100 decisions vs A : the buy and hold guy who will make 90.
Charts is all about behavior finance. but you need to have fastest fingers first (Garuda with Satellite)....
      You Decide who you are : A, B, C, D or E....
A can make 20 decisions in 20 stocks.
D makes 100 decisions per stock , so 2000 decisions in 20 stocks.
And here you need to watch this video of mine : heart rates of mouse to whale... who lives longer....
      th-cam.com/video/D68saZYfeEg/w-d-xo.html
The two are related... total number of decisions and life of the profession (trader vs investors)
I hope you get the answer

@@G2GAjaySharma @AjayFY Understood, Ajay ji. As always you explained in simple words.
Itna straightforward Ganit(maths) kisi aur ne nhi btaya kabhi😂👌
I'm aspiring and working to be like person "B" (basically a long side positional trend trader).
Price wise and time wise correction that person "A" would face during 10 to 100rs journey, that I cannot tolerate otherwise I always wanted to be like person "A". Hats off to such "A"s who have such mental toughness and patience to hold their investments even through corrections.
Mne screenshot le liya aapke reply ka, will print it and put it on my wall to fight the fomo of distraction caused by other instruments like FnO, commodities and remain focused on my core competency and trade&invest as per my temperament.
P.S Mera ek dilemma tha hmesha se ki as time goes and I'm grasping good command on price action, price behaviour aspects on a technical chart, should I not trade leveraged instruments like fno, commodities, currencies to have a better return on portfolio.
But now I got the reality ki mujhe itni magajmari nhi chahiye jo person "D" uthayega.
      Dhanyawad Ajay ji. 🙏

@@G2GAjaySharma wow I never thought of it that way thank you sir. but why it is linked to interest rate sir few of the company don't even have debt, is it also applicable for the banks, can u make a video of this it will be eye opener for all reatil people like us because everyone says interest rate hike affects the company but no one till now said it is also liked to pe rating of the company.
      🙏

    • @G2GAjaySharma
      @G2GAjaySharma  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Let me ask you a simple question. If interest rates go to 20%, will you put money in Fixed Deposits or Buy Stocks? And if they go to 25%? This is just an exaggeration, but if you can make 20% RISK-FREE in bank deposit, then stock market has to give you more than 20% for the risk you are taking.
In that case, you need lower valuation to make more money... hence lower PE multiple.
The other way to look at ...
Stock price is a discount of future cash flows.... for the same cash flow, if your discount rate increases , your value comes down

Ankurji, just because a company is LARGE or in NIFTY does not mean it has become TOO BIG... it could still be in Vishnu phase and keep growing. But if the PE multiple ( valuation) becomes very high ... say 100 PE , then we are discounting a lot of future growth in the price... then you can look for better opportunities...
