Fun story. In the 90's wife and i rented a house that came with an OLD console stereo.. the kind with a tube amp. Was told it didn't work.. I said.. yea sure let me at it..short bit of rewiring and I had it going.. we look at it and it has an 8 track player.. of course I say "WE NEED AN 8 TRACK!" so we go to the basement and find a box of 8 tracks that likely had not been touched since the 70's. One of them was Steve Miller. I popped it in, and low and behold it had THIS version of Jet Airliner. I cranked that tube amp as loud as it would go.. you could hear the ancient tones crackling the ancient speakers from down the road. I played it over and over again. You could just jam out to that simple but elegant bassline intro all day long
Thank you thank you touching down into New England town feel the heat coming down I’ve got to keep on keeping on you know the big wheel keeps on spinning around and I’m going with some hesitation that I don’t wanna get caught up in any of that funky shit going down in the city
You guys are awesome! I've seen you three times at the Meadows in Hartford and it's an honor to listen to music and I enjoy singing your music. Much love, Steve Miller band. 💯👍😎

I remember this song playing in Discos of sports clubs in Brasilia (Brazil), city where I lived during the middle seventies. Then, rock bands like Steve Miller Band and Backman Turner Overdrive were very popular among Brazillian young people who liked to go out to dance. There were other songs of Steve Miller that used to be played in places like that, like Rock'n Me and Jungle Love. It was a great time when people used to hear and dance good music of 70's rock bands: Steve Miller Band, BTO, Kiss, Nazareth, Deep Purple, Slade, Status Quo. Or slow balads of Elton John, Carpenters, Wings, Chicago, Al Stewart.
This is RIDICULOUS!!! This guy edited the beginning part of this song several times over. But at least he did a decent job overlaying tracks together, to make it sound like one song.
Ok... that rocks. I'm going to have to do this again, when I have the stereo cranked and I'm cleaning the house. To be honest, though, at 1.25 speed it sounds like how some of the radio stations played songs back in the day, to cram more into the hourly play rotation.
Thank you for doing the original version, keeping the extended guitar intro in - AND - not letting the anal-retentive censor police replace "funky shit" with "funky kicks." Unbelievable. How criminal is that?! I wonder if lots of younger people even know there was an original (untouched) version? Probably not. I get pissed off everything I hear the current version and just turn it off. Thanks again.
This isn't the "RARE" Super Extended Version. What happened to the ACTUAL 1:05 min. synthesized intro to this song? Right at the beginning, it's sounds like you skipped it and went right into the instrumental.
@@AGENTARMES Thank You very much for your offer. But I prefer to have the songs in the original on a physical medium. I´m a colectorand a little crazy.😉 If the song is not available in the original, then so be it. But I still have tapr recorders, so you can also record it this way.😎
@@AGENTARMES I was doing some home restoration with The Greatest hits album playlist as background music and had to lay down the tools, take the gloves off, climb down the ladder and cross the room to switch this off, for how long would this go on?
This is how the song should have come out in the first place.👍
Listen to Paul Pena's original version and get back to us

I was born in 68. My cousins turned me on to Harley Davidson, Eagles, Doobie Bros. Skynyrd and all them. Best years of my life, all gone now!

Love 💕 Guitar ‼️
What would be excellent, cruising down the highway playing this loud enough to hear it over my V8's throaty exhaust.
AND echoing off the hills!
Me in my 99 tahoe on the blue ridge😂
From the best group...
Best song ever tom petty is my favorite but steve miller is awesome its gets me moving
Put the purely instrumental first half the song to 1.25x speed for some true vibes!😎

That's a very long name for a dog.
Power strumming!!!

Amen brother! I’m hip to all of that. Glad u enjoy the song!
The original "untouched" version is by the guy who wrote it Paul Pena
Power Stumming!!!
❤ it

What an intro. How good. Don't you wish you could play guitar like that.
I actually can. This tune is quite easy. A great jam for sure..

Where is the world
You should’ve added the Threshold segment too
I’ll make one for ya 👍
Threshold you dumbf......!
REALLY? I HAD NO IDEA, THERE WAS A 'THRESHOLD SECTION'.
So I’m curious, where did you find this overlapped song that repeated the same instrumental track three times?
I call BS. What album is this from? I have a bunch of their albums, including "king Biscuit Flour Hour" and never heard this version!
Sounds like when the stylus jumped vinyl records.
Is this long version somewhere available on a record?
Not on record but I can email u the mp3

@@georgwinkler9436 Get Paul Pena's original version if you are a real collector
I had this on 8 track and this version was on it.
It sounds like a hook on a loop. Like the repeating background from a Flintstones episode
ok, who did this version, never heard it keep looping ;)
Never knew this version existed
What if IT never YOU existed? Now the world is complete.
I'm sorry, but this is pain stupid. Can't imagine Steve Miller would ever have approved of this.
No problem as such, great for afficionados, but it appeared in the (regular) playlist of his (regular) greatest hits, and shouldn't be there.
@@fritsvanzanten3573 what is ‘pain stupid’? Plz enlighten me
