Straight up pay to play. As a FTP, I got a full 4 star Cabal and got to do Pocket Dimension. Now, I’m just going to be locked out of the next legendary.
Possibly but unknown at this time. f2p can build a 5 man team with out Captain Britain. Remains to be scene if that will be effective in the next legendary event.
The only, I mean only, way they listen is if we hurt them with our wallets. We all know the krakens are too competitive to stand with the rest of the community.
Three thoughts. 1) Scopely needed to find a way to give krakens more things to spend on. I don’t see how this does this. Krakens would have spent just as much regardless of f2p being limited in this event. So this seems more like a form of kraken/whale appreciation. 2) To that point, Imo this has crossed a line in kraken/whale exclusivity. It was one thing to make things like diamonds on the newest characters, awakened abilities, dd characters, and higher stars (especially on characters like zuggs and zim) exclusive to top spenders for a period of time. It gave them an advantage over the competition of ppl who didn’t spend as much. It’s another to make the character needed to unlock the full potential of a team exclusive to only top spenders for a year. 3) This will have so many ramifications the next year. It’s not just cc. It’s future trials, it’s future towers, it’s any where Illuminati can be used or required. For the next year, ppl without CB will be at a disadvantage or locked out of a lot of content where only CB with Illuminati will work or will work much easier.
I watched 3 envoy vids so far about the new illuminati team as of now and i sense the lack of rage and disappointment from them. They were more livid before for lesser issues. It looks to me that this was run by them (heck some were even able to test it already) and they know something is in the horizon or maybe just in NDA that they're not panicking as much. Just my thoughts and speculations.
The primary question is whether the team will be any good without Captain Brittan, because it doesn't matter how good he is, I'm not buying. And I'm a light spender.
I'm a Day 1 player and I think this will be the quarter / patch I finally quit. I was close to quitting before they released Apoc, but the scourge system was introduced and kept me playing. The switcharoo they pulled with OML nearly had me quit right then and there, but I've stuck around. If the next legendary unlock is the same as OML (which it seems it will) I'm finally out. I'm no whale so I don't matter, but I went from spending a good $20-30 a month up until the OML announcement, but haven't spent a penny since.
I've never missed a day since defenders meta... its qutting time... this is just absolutely ridiculous...and i have helped lead my alliance mates to top 50 war alliance..and thats too bad... but this is just unforgivable. I was happy at first cuz this is an awesome team and i love BB.. but seriously? Who thought this was a good idea..
It might be time, working thru cosmic in dd7 and just see more and more roadblocks without any enjoyment in new game modes. I've spent so much and it's just time
Bottom line if they paywall any toons I will no longer support scopely. Say what you want but I feel they should be finding a way to make the gap between f2p and light spenders smaller obviously favoring light spenders. But this makes a huge gap. If they cross that line and open up pay only toons it will make a new trend I won't be here for. I really hope it doesn't get to this point but good luck to all that stay if it does.
Gating him behind a pay wall would be fine, if I had gold and T4s to put on characters and teams I enjoyed, or maybe skipped, but want to go back to build. Not enough T4s and gold to level up skipped or bad characters from 1 or 20 or 65 back in the day to level 95 now to be useful in game modes. I remember when raid teams came out and you didn't need to build them up to max level and gear tier for them to work in the raids just going in and auto attacking(pre sims). Now, even max level characters with max gear, and you can still sometimes fail doing manual because the balance is too far off.
We need more game modes, and things of the sort. They just keep pumping out nothing but characters (and the bugs that come with them). We haven't even had an abundance of new maps....*ever*
They are killing this game. If they go through with this I will be quitting and I’ve spent around 26k on this dumbass game. Wonder if I can get my money back…
So basically if you’re in a top alliance as a dolphin/ftp, you’re going to have to get comfortable moving to a less competitive alliance. And you might as well just stop playing CC altogether. Unless you’re willing to shell out hundreds of dollars, you’re not unlocking new toons for a year or more.
I'm personally fine with the 5* cutoff, like the old OG legendaries have. I guess my concern is mostly around the "vault"'ing of characters to create artificial fomo and extend the time before the general playerbase can unlock. Is the consensus then that Ironman is the odd one out out of the reworks? As a mid-game spender still two level from 100 I really don't want to build all three :D
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Think about what the long term affects of Cpt. Britian being gated and not available. This means no legendary and down the road making Prof X that much harder to get too

It all depends on that sentence for the team showcase they wrote, "In the case of the Team Showcase, Chapter 2 requires Black Panther (Shuri), Hank Pym, and 2 Illuminati of your choice at the 5 Yellow Stars. Captain Britain will be your ally for these missions". Just the wording of the "at the 5 yellow stars" hopefully refers to mission 3. If not then yeah the game is gonna lose a lot of players.
TH-camrs complain then get these characters/teams. Then tell you how great they are. Rinse and repeat. Reality is if you like the game do not try to keep up with the meta. Don’t spend unless you want to. And everything will unlock over time.

Probably doing 6 characters so people can unlock the legendary FTP however if you want them at high stars you will have to spend money to unlock Captain Britain as he will be better than say Iron Man.
I’ve been bringing thanos and black bolt up just because I like them. Really sucks because I’ve waited years for him to be good again and he’s not even decent on this new team. Kinda sucks when sin6 feels great.
So CB is paywalled for now but he just makes Illuminati way better particularly on CC defence? But to unlock next legendary you need 5 Illuminati and with CB there are 6 members...so you can use other 5? And I m guessing CB makes it easier but is expensive? But most people will only get shuri and pym at 3 /4/5 stars anyways and this next legendary event will be OML again( difficulty access tied to stars). So unless they make it so difficult you can't get past illuminati nodes without CB I don't understand the outrage. (Beyond the desire to get CB FTP right away)

Not only geared to whales, but what this is really aiming to do is make non whales expand and upgrade their rosters for Crucibles. No more one taps, now 2 or 3 taps. Make everyone invest more. Really hurts plp like myself just enough built up for crucible to have a one defense cause a missed attack and I'm still able to one tap most of the time. Another money grap... shock. So even worse than the initial whale only complaint.
If we read the blogpost, it says that the shield thingy is in chapter 2 - Mission 1 at 3 stars... for all 3 showcases. Where is the "pay to get it". I don't understand why you are saying paywall?

The team is going to be built around the new characters anyway. Reworks are always just there to assist or support, or be expendable so the enemies attack them instead of the new/good characters of the team.
I really don't like the Captain Britain release method. The reworks are trash. These characters needed a whole lot more love especially their speed stats which are still pathetic. Effectively useless against the power creep.
As long as u can spend cores on hank and shuri 675 core orbs it might be ok qnd ftp possible but overall its kinda shitty all they keep trying to do is screw over the skilled die hard ftp dolphin players that love crucible

It is likely similar to OML legendary. You can use other 5 members to unlock new legendary at 4 or 5 star, but not 6+ star.

The mediocre reworks are a calculated movement to ensure only the new toons are viable for any game mode or legendary unlock.

Shuri will be going on some robbie teams in the future and maybe robbie as the 5th if you don't have Captain Britain.

This team is star locked. You need a 5* ShuriBP and 5* Hank to unlock Captain Britain.
