- In this episode, I show you how to replace a front lower ball joint on your 3rd gen Honda CRV. This job is fairly easy and requires minimal tools and knowledge.

Great Video!!! What was the reason you replaced the lower ball joint? I'm having a pop or click sound when going over bumps. I'm hoping it's just the ball joints and not the struts. However I have a feeling it's the struts. I'll be jacking up my CRV this weekend and look to see what's going on. Thanks for the video.
I just tried to do mine and of course it’s seized. I just had the same issue in my 00 Civic where it had basically had welded itself to the control arm.
I cannot get mine to pop off the knuckle. I’m also doing this laying down but I smacked the hell out of it with a 4lbs hammer. I sprayed some kroil in it and I put it back together. Imma try again tomorrow.

OMG! Do you have to use brute force hammering like that? Look at the big dent you did from hammering. I see you have a full shop setup. There are common tools available to separate the ball joints.
There is a ball joint separator, I have one. I prefer this method
Ikr. It's not rusted or anything. I would try to pry it out first before beating the crap out of that poor knuckle.

Of course you tightened all the nuts and bolts to Honda TORQUE SPECS but decided to keep the specific torque values for each bolt secret, right?

You never mentioned if the left side was replaced. They wear at about the same rate. If the second joint wasn’t replaced it must have been profit was your motive rather than safety since it was for flipping the car.
I just showed that one side for the video. Other side is the same process. No need to be redundant.

Wonder why nylon lock nut? More dependable?
No idea, I've seen it on several aftermarket ball joints and tie rod ends.
Go with the Moog brand, still uses a castle nut and cotter pin. Great dependable and proven brand as well.
