As always, really enjoy your videos. I would like to see a video on how to recognize when to attack the ball at the NVZ. Sometimes I miss an opportunity.
Excellent! Thanks so much. I'm often not aware when I've "drifted" back from the line. It takes a lot of awareness to know where that line is and stay tucked up tight against it. :)
+Aloha Leslie Yes, eliminate “kitchen line drift” and it well help your game considerably. Awareness is the first step. Awareness that it’s happening AND awareness of where the line is without looking at it.
How do you keep from stepping into the kitchen when right on the line? I'm so used to stepping in on volleys for tennis that that is why i stand a few inches back.
Do a drill like is shown here: th-cam.com/video/y9CLD80LE9o/w-d-xo.html But adjust it to slow the ball way down. Don’t focus on hitting body volleys. Just volley back and forth comfortably. And your main focus when doing this should be to only pivot your feet as needed. Do not pick them up and step in. Drill this regularly for a while and you should be able to break your habit pretty quickly.
This video is titled "How to Dominate the Net" and all it said in 4 minutes was to position yourself close to the NVZ line. It never said a thing about what to do once you get there, which is what I hoped this video would address.
Good video one thing I notice from watching many training videos from different teachers is NO ONE ever takes into consideration or mentions the players physical abilities as to WHY SOME PLAYERS perfer to stand back from the NVZ. One factor is their eye vision as we age some players have difficulty tracking the ball movement. As an example your standing at the NVZ theres a volley taking place between your partner and the opponent suddenly the ball is hit to you but your eyes don't track the movement quickly enough so you end up completely missing the shot or hitting a bad return. I like many other players feel more comfortable and confident standind further back and being able to have better reaction time to return a shot. In conclusion there's a trade-off in standing back from the NVZ but to me and many other players it's had positive results.
Great response. This video is exactly what it says, HOW TO DOMINATE THE NET. Definitely, staying off the line a bit has its advantages. I totally agree with certain situation and specific abilities it may be a good idea to come off the line a bit. We may address this in a future video! The reason for this video is because too many people back off the line-for the wrong reasons.
PrimeTime Pickleball OK I agree with you Just wanted to bring the eye tracking issue to people's attention as a possible reason why some stand back a bit.
Here’s something that I experienced yesterday I did not plant in that because I don’t let people playing with me You have told me to play up at the new Valley zone we’re now playing back with me some of these are ranked players but one of them said to me that our opponent hits really hard but it doesn’t have any skilled shots he can just hit hard because I play back His heart it’s nothing I just simply return them with a nice ground stroke and I think that’s why my partner moved back as well they took away all of his power all of his strength and his game was in him hitting hard and then we would hit a nice drop shot and he would hit into the net. One of the reasons I don’t play other than that as I have bad hips and it’s hard for me to go left and right quickly but I can run five steps and chase a ball more easily I haven’t heard really anyone talk about the fact that you can eliminate somebody’s power shop I just backing up and turning it into a forehand return which for some reason people that use fast play aren’t very good at returning those It’s just an observation Basically hard shots hit from the no valleys on are easily returned from the baseline because it’s a plastic ball with holes in it
This guy's videos completely straightened out my third shot drop, dinking and overall strategy. I'm pretty much a solid 4.0 now.
That's awesome!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Jordan - a great video with good description of why to stay up at the line.
👍🏻👍🏻

Nice description of advantages and disadvantages. Great insight.
+Bill Forsyth Thanks for watching and letting us know you got something out of it. That’s why we do this :)
Great advice, feel like naturally you want to step back but it’s good to push through and stay up front

Engage maverick !
Is it okay to slam dunk at the NVZ??
As long as your momentum doesn’t carry you into the kitchen if you take it out of the air then yes!
Jordan wins the award for the most color coordinated outfit in a pickleball demonstration video.
I’m sure there are many others that can beat me in this!
@@primetimepickleball Side note: my late mother's maiden name is your surname. We both played college tennis. Any relatives in South Texas?
Great video
Thanks!

My problem has been a tendency to step forward over the line when the ball comes high at or above my shoulder.
Yes this takes lots of practice NOT to do! Stay up and the line and keep practicing!!
Yes! Same
But practice will make perfect. !
need help with hitting a lob shot when you are at the kitchen line
We'll be doing that video very soon!
Even if your toe end touches the outer line consider to be in kitchen?
Yes
How do deal with a slammer that close?
Soft shots. Drop it and keep it short and low or hit firm shots at their feet.

I don’t even know how to play this stupid old person game.
It’s harder than it looks!
