Pritchett was injured with a hurt ankle. Coaches were trying to hold him out so he would be ready for next week. The coaches asked if he could go a few minutes and he said yes. Coaches can’t be blamed for not playing him earlier. No one knew Formby would have that kind of game. Remember we were all saying how good Formby was just last week. Pritchett was criticized last week as the weak link when he started at left tackle.

Agree. We are too much in the moment as fans and media. The coaches see these guys work all week. Under the circumstances the right decisions were made. We won, and now we have the best chance for a completely healthy line this week, and when our friends the Dawgs come calling. DeBoer has not gotten where he is by not letting the best players play. Sometimes they have to grow on the field. Should Milroe have been pulled after he got sacked, fumbled, etc in favor of Simpson? No, it’s way too early in the season to be overly-reactive. We all have to remember, this is a different game now. You MUST play the long game so you have the best depth and experience rolling into the playoffs.

The thing everybody seems to forget is you can only use all those weapons if you have time to throw. If every time Milroe goes back, there’s three guys in his face. It’s kind of hard to go through progressions and it’s not like it just started this year. It was the same thing with the offensive line last year, which is disappointing because we were led to believe all through camp that the line was going to be a strength.

Proctor being hurt the first game messed up the o line. First game they moved Prichett to left tackle but was injured before this game. This game Booker was at left tackle and Formby was at right. Booker isn’t an outside lineman. So the O-line was all sorts of messed up. Saying Pritchett should’ve been in the game from the start isn’t right though. He was injured and we need him more against Wisconsin. USF on paper should’ve been a tough but not like it was game. If Proctor can come back in at left tackle and everyone can move back to their respected positions I believe this can be a good o line.

The comparison from game 1 to game 2, was Pritchett for several reasons.
Prichett was able to effectively punch & move up to the second level.
The o-line gelled when he arrived. Combo blocks were more accurate, when they called for a pulling tackle like the first game, they were in sinc. Pass blocks were not pushed back into the pocket. Run blitzs were fit at the line of scrimmage. Vs WKU, the same o-line was there that had been practicing all month. Then proctor got hurt, & Prichett stepped in. Only one man replaced. But when both proctor & Prichett went down after game1 they reshuffled the whole o-line. No continuity. They struggled. Milroe was trying to pass with formby in his lap, usually off platform. Our running backs who made hay in the b-gap all last week. Couldn't get out of the mud. There was no offensive rythem, therefore, no joy. After Prichett came in, we looked unstoppable, like we did last week.

Coach will have to adjust his game planning to account for every team “getting up” for Alabama. We’ve seen it for years…average teams playing better and harder because they’re playing Alabama. The mentality for facing opponents shouldn’t necessarily be to just outscore them , but also to break their will to compete as early in the game as possible. That way, when mistakes or injuries happen, the games are more likely to be more than just a one possession difference. They don’t rally. This is the key; break their will.

The intangible aspects are things I saw a lot of people missing about Formby's poor performance. By that I mean that by the middle of the 2nd quarter, the ENTIRE right side of the field is no man's land. Backs not bouncing to the right because they don't trust him, Jalen can't roll to the right because he can't trust him, eventually somebody on SF's sideline caught on and now Formby is catching a blitz package on every single play and now they've forced Alabama totally abandon an entire side of the football field. Everyone at my house wanted to talk about a bunch of nonsense about music at practice or ice cream trucks making guys lose focus while I'm sitting their screaming "NO the right tackle hasn't made a block all night!"

It's easy to Sunday Morning QB but dam! I believe #75 will get better but he was not ready for this game. Should have been out after the second hold and for dam sure after the third.

He needs to get ready! If he is back up then he needs to be as ready to play as the starter is. If he's not ready then he shouldn't be in uniform. Imo.

20/20 hindsight is a great thing. DeBoer was right to err on the side of caution for Pritchett due to his injury. Had he been hurt in the game if he had started, you would have been screaming PLAYED TO EARLY. It is a long season and a thin offensive line. In DeBoer I trust. Poor Fornby will be good. Just not ready yet. We got the W. I still say Milroe is a great running back. I just wish we would play our quarterback, Simpson. But the fake sports news LOVES him and team politics is what it is.. It is what it is. Roll Tide.

EP definitely is a better player at right tackle, i hate fans really don't understand the game, USF receivers did get open but our D line did play good football and had pressure into QBs face so it didn't matter ,we just have a lot to work on as a team and hopefully we'll be better once we get into SEC play 👍

It's called adversity.....youth-freshmen are learning-off line shuffled due to injuries... matters BIGTIME. WE found a way to win a game when we had people hurt. THE coaches are learning as well. You can bet the farm that they have this game constantly on/breaking it down, and will get better,
If you win every game by one point.... AS well as
    You dont eat your own.

I said this after that touchdown was called back for his hold. Which was a weak call to begin with, but he was the weak link and it was so obvious early. I do feel bad for Formby but he needs to use his strength rather than his hands so much. I think a lot of people saw this early in this game.

Honestly Prichett coming in didnt have anything to do with what happened at the end of the game. On both long td runs he had a te and H back to his side along with pulling pur guard and center on those plays. All EP had to do was block down. As far as pass pro im not sure he was in for a play where he was in pass protection. The quick hitch to Williams EP was actually run blocking so maybe it was a rpo or Milroe just decided to get it out there quick before we could get a penalty on lineman downfield because he has Roberts both were run blocking. Prichett or Forby those late long runs happen with either guy in

Formby isn't ready to play. I watched Pritchett on the replays of the scoring plays and his footwork, hand placement, body position, and blocking skill were light years above where Formby is now. Formby is just a big strong kid lacking experience. He needs more skill training before he is ready to play.
