I have the best orchid. It needs no water, light or food. Looks great where some orchids can’t live. It’s the Lego Phalaenopsis and is everything as advertised. Thanks Danny for this video. Like you I dislike misrepresentation.
@@catharinecheng7741 Hi! I never did a Lego before and found the inside of the pot which is built first a little challenging. You have to build three round sections, stack them and give a twist. Directions are in picture form. Flowers, leaves and flower stems are easy. I really enjoyed the build and looking forward to doing the bonsai. Get it you will be happy.
Hi Dani, great video topic!! My fav are orchid seeds that you can purchase and plant directly into the ground. I do feel bad for the people who are not aware that this is, in fact, fake, false and a scam.
Why do the dye them! Ugh I just saw some in a supermarket I go to and they were selling them for $50.00! I was like wow; hopefully someone doesn’t believe it is actually real!
thats insane and really scary, so what do natural orchids look like in nature?

Nice video, as usual ;) Not sure I understand the pictures of the thelymitras at the end though? they do have some impressive flowers, although we don't see them often outside OZ.
The subscription call to action makes a lot more sense at the beginning. But while I’m talking about that, your subscribe button animation, once clicked, it has “subscribed” misspelled as “subscibed” and I don’t know if you noticed that.
Hi I love your videos, I learn alot! I have a question, I had two Orchids that I had to put in I C U. they didnt have any roots, and only one leaf. well I was able to bring them back , they now have plenty of roots, and 5 leaves they just will not bloom for me! please help!
I often see pictures on facebook and others and I think "It`s common sense to identify this as photoshop!" But we shal never stop dividing the truth from fake! Oh, ant never buy orchid seeds, guys! These offers are fake, too!
Indeed it is common sense , all the so called orchid seeds with weird animal faces , thanks God they are not true, there also the all colours strawberry , seeds too of course, the vendors just put the same picture all together with the colour of the fruit changed ^^ totally makes sense ...
blue flowers are relatively rare, it is difficult for plants to produce it and may be a valuable marker of plant-pollinator fitness in an environment. more stressful environments appear to have relatively more blue floral colors to provide resilience. harsh conditions such as in the mountains of the Himalaya, blue flowers are more common than expected. This indicates that tough environments plants have to invest a lot to attract the few available and essential bee pollinators. Blue flowers appear to exist to best advertise to bee pollinators when competition for pollination services is high.
My sister insists that she has an orchid (real orchid that is), that is planted in dirt in a regular plastic pot, sitting in her very warm, but not necessarily humid, enclosed front porch. It is always blooming she says. She waters it, and says that it does great with a once a week watering. Like I said "she Insists that it is real", but yet she says it doesn't grow... And she never looses or gains any leaves. She lives in a distant state, but I would have to see it to believe that it is real. 😆
Another thing that can affect the hue you see on a picture, and the hue in real life is a monitor. Every monitor, even two monitors of the same brand and type, will renders the same colour on photos and graphics a little differently. You should never ever judge a colour using a screen unless you have a specialised sophisticated “RGB true colour” monitor. One of these - even a small 15inch one - costs hundreds of dollars and are typically the domain of professional photographers. The rest of us photoshoppers rely on the Pantone book so we can manually set the RGB/Hex of the colour we need for an image. It should be understood by everyone that the same identical image on my monitor will look different on yours. So yes, as MOG says, don’t ever believe a digital image shows you the true colour of an orchid, a rose, the foliage on a plant, the colour of the wood on a chair, a painting, on clothes or fabric, or else anything at all. It’s not unreliable and you will be disappointed if you expect that the colour you see will be an exact match.
Those dyed orchids remind me of dying carnations as a kid, too. It has occurred to be that I enjoy keeping man-made hybrids…orchids and fancy goldfish. 😂 No way would either of the species that I keep be able to survive in the wild (kinda like myself 😂).
I recently got dupped because the tag saying "dyed" was hidden deep within the plastic covering my flowers. If they didn't have the healthiest roots I'd ever seen (I didn't have to cut a single root when I repotted??) I would have RAGED at 70 CAD white orhids.
I know you recently got into aquariums. Sorry to tell you that the "branding" issue/lie is even more prevalent among corals and other livestock. More so, competitors buy each others stock whenever a nice color is found, change the name, and mark up the price even higher. Its a shame, causes some confusion, and takes advantage of beginners. Feel free to save and shoot me an email with photos or questions anytime if you want clarification on aquarium stuff.
It's been hot in Texas, and my orchids have felt it. I only have one pot with blooms left and have just cut old spikes off. In the process of reporting. I've got some bigger pots, new soil and moss. All are Phal. Should I use both soils? Let me know. 🙃
The “just add ice” marketing is the worst, in my opinion. Because people believe that is the proper way to water and care for their plant and then it does the opposite.
I just got a Guarianthe skinneri 'Heiti Jacobs' and my last skinneri was the species because I got it flasked at the Costa Rican airport. Sadly she got crown rot , I assume it’s a hybrid? Since it has an extra name ?
I have a strange question there is a war against slipper orchids or phalaenopsis which one is the easiest to take care of and to me there so easy to take care of .Danny can you give me a challenge to name a orchid that is really hard to take care of p.s I am Téo years old
Hello just wanted to say thank you since I started watching you videos I have saved my orchids and they are healthy and look great. Also I wanted a blue orchid but will not buy one since you explained about the dye.Thank you
Hi thank you for your awesome video! Are monkey face orchids real??? My wife and I have a running debate over this! I have been saying that they are fake!!!!!!👍👍👍
check dracula orchids, therye the ones with monkey face flowers, they are real but some photos are .... carefully selected or a little enhanced to emphasize how much they look like a monkey face. but they do indeed look like little monkey faces! theyre quite cute
Another fake thing you see with orchids is people offering to sell "orchid seeds" that couldn't possibly be seeds from orchids. Thanks for the video!

Hi! I was thinking of getting that! Was it hard to put together?

This is interesting! I was just “gifted” a rehab project too… had to cut all but two roots. How long has it taken for yours to get to this point?

have you ever mounted orchids on to tree fern panels? if so what were the results like?

I was suckered into paying 35.00 at Lowes in Florida 15years ago. I asked if it was dyed and they said no… it was 😡
Ohhh I love those orange spots

Blue orchids look as natural as green carnations.
Being from Brazil and seeing all those posts in Portuguese, I'm laughing so much hahaha like we say around here "Brazil is not a place for beginners"

Blue orchid does actually exist, the name is Thelymitta ixiodes
Sadly it's rather purple and looks ink blue on camera only, many orchids do that 😊
