I played this pin 5 times in Portland and I already realized that ramp was the safe shot and just continually tried shooting it. My question then is how do you design and playtest this pin and not realize that. I know the code will nix the points. Maybe the diverter should have been on that shot to take it to the left flipper. Its a fantastic layout but this does kill it for me. I also dislike the flipper hop on the left. Love the shots. Love the danger room.
Yeah this is not good. Definitely feeling a lot of anxiety about my order now. I think I should change it to godzilla. It's the safe bet. This game looks pretty broken in a lot of ways. Which is super disappointing because it has so much going for it.
I think every team has their own ways of coming up with rules, sequences, their own vision. I'm not worried about whether or not we can keep doing this strategy, I don't have any doubts this will change, because this strategy itself just emerged because of a previous update. Truth be told, at a high level for competitive players, a lot of modern pins allow for something similar to happen. People just don't realize it because the strategies aren't broken down on youtube.
Received my machine recently, and got a high score of 210million 0.86 code on a LE. Will try this strategy out and update if i beat my highscore! Edit: haven’t beat it yet, but am getting consistently higher scoring games
From my experience the game loops back around with the missions being available to play again. I'm not sure when or if Stern will put out an official rulebook for this game. If you go to tiltforums.com, each game has rules gathered by the community.
Must have been a bug in 0.84 or 0.83, but I somehow got 87 million points in the “rescue the innocent” because all the other times are only 6-20ish million
Great video. Unfortunate that one of the "better" points strats is just one continuous looping shot, but that's totally fixable by code. The machine underneath the code seems legit and super fun/well laid out.
Thanks! The pin is fun to shoot, I'm not worried about rules since the game is very early in the life cycle. I don't mind challenging modes being ungated. I think making them more difficult, while adding 15 seconds to the mode might help flesh it out more. Mayhem could in theory be all the shots being Blob's body, each yellow shot is a hit to the body, red is a critical hit. Hit a yellow body shot once, it's gone. Shots change every few seconds since Blob is moving around Midtown / the city. If you hit all the yellow shots but save red for last, you get a knockout blow.
There's _zero_ chance the code doesn't get massively overhauled in the near future - at this point in time, this is the single worst LCD-era Stern by a _colossal_ margin. To have such an elaborate, innovative playfield, and then to allow 90% of it go completely to waste because of mind-numbingly terrible game design, is practically a sin against pinball itself. While I'll reserve my final judgement for when 1.0 drops, in its current state this game is a massive disappointment - Foo Fighters is easily my favorite LCD Stern due to its incredible flow and its deep, yet not brain-explodingly complicated ruleset. Needless to say, I was expecting another banger out of Jack Danger, not this abysmal clunker.
A lot of people out there probably don't realize this strategy exists, though I imagine it'll be changed around in the future since it's straightforward changes to modes that can be done to prevent a shot spam. With launch parties being a consistent presence with cornerstone releases, the competitive players will always be breaking down rules and layouts together to test "ideas" and approaches. But the great thing is, if a player doesn't care about tournaments or points, they can continue to play the game based off modes and shots they enjoy.
@@Sayntin I hope they change the code to prevent a 1 shot spam strategy because like you said, it turns this game into one of the most boring pins ever.
Its still a lot of skill to control and make this shot but damn... if this is the game I'm so disappointed. Spam 1 safe shot over and over and over again and have nothing interesting or fun happen at all...cool. Maybe I need to cancel my order. This is really really really bad. How do they fix this? Will they even bother fixing it? Surely they have to? The game is completely broken right now!
It’s a couple of easier fixes that would alter things a bit up front. Majority of games out there it’s possible to find a path to points in a safe way. This one just happens to have several instances of multiple features being focused at one shot that the current software allows to be aligned up for the flow of the game.
@ThePinballCompany bit anxious seeing this though. For a first pin its a lot of money. I'm thinking I probably should change my order to a safe bet for my first pin...maybe jurassic park pro or godzilla premium? What would you recommend for a newbies first pin in my situation? Thanks
@@Amanda-fm2to don’t change your order (& potentially lose some of your deposit). Enjoy having the latest thing & being the temporary envy of all your buddies (until they get the next one… which while new will not be a sick X-men themed piece of awesome). Your flipper skills & strategy will improve dramatically with ANY new Stern as a first game at home. You’ll learn how to maintain your pin with little down-time involved because it’s new machinery. & remember Home machines have great resale (or trade) potential, especially within your local pinball community. There’s usually a world of difference between 0.86 & 1.0 & the updates are free & painless. Very little potential for buyers remorse with a new pin from Stern… until you run out of room in your house. Happy flipping!
I just realized that I accidentally muted the game sound after ball 1. Ah well.
Oh yeah, Travis dropping the knowledge! 🔥
Great video as always Travis.
Appreciate it Jared! Congrats on the Stern Pro Circuit Championship win!
Great Video! Thank you for doing this!
Darn, would've been nice to have this for our launch party last Friday
Wow thanks so much for this info!! 🙌🏽🙏🏽

@@ThePinballCompany compared to your godzilla strategy video though, that was so much more varied and required so much more skill than this strategy.

Could you make a tutorial on how to used the center post? I find it just slides off the side half the time
What is the flipper power and pitch? Thanks
Great! I’m using this to kick my dads ass at this game🤘🏽
Do you know what happens after all 8 modes have been completed, or when an official “rulebook” will be published?

Did Joel teach you this?
Joel charges too much per hour for personal lessons.

Trusted the post too much lol
The animations remind me of Sealab 2021 in a bad way.

How about you Tell us how to fix the uncanny ball launch 🤦 most of us can't even get the ball around the orbit from the launch.
I think of it like avengers. I bounce the ball away from the plunger to get some momentum and then full power plunge. I never use the button.

Damn, you just made the game a one shot classic in the beginning, they will have to change that. Gonna get boring quick.
