J Cole used sample from another song called “bad things” by a band named “Cults” and after a few bit of research that the people did, they came to conclusion that the Cults they themselves sampled a part from somewhere else as well. It was from the Jonestown Massacre in 1978. At the part of one “she knows” in this song, if you hear closely, you can find kids screaming. As the part is sampled from the historical massacre which caused the death of over 900 people, parents who were Jim’s followers were forced to poison and kill their children and afterwards commit suicide as well. He made his own followers’ life so miserable. And to make people think he is a good man, he framed his followers to falsely confess that they took part in child ‘mol””” and other heinous acts so that the church will think that he is really nice man to turn over his followers who were found guilty. He also didn’t allow couples to have s”” and instead forced them to have s”” with him and other people except their own spouses and husbands and also humiliated them by stripping them nak”” . What is more insane is that the fact he didn’t actually have any bad things happen to him in his childhood or had any sort of traumatic experience at any age. In 19 some when he was 22, he became a pastor in the gospel church I think, I am not sure actually as I am not a Christian. But I know that because of him being against any sort of racism earned him followers thinking he was good man. The only reason he did all this as per as we know so far is that the fact it was 1945 nuclear/ Hiroshima incident and the rumours it had made Jim Jones pretty interested and I think it is confidential enough to say that he was “inspired” by it which is a disturbing fact itself indeed. But if that is what made him interested in torturing people, then it could be that the nuclear incident is what messed up his brain. I am not a Christian but I know that extra religious Christian people are likely to priests and pastors, so I don’t really think that he had such an evil thing going around his head before the Hiroshima incident. Well, it is my opinion and it makes the most sense if you are asking me. Either way, it was a huge historical massacre and we can do nothing about the lost helpless souls that are gone.

But every bit from the melody to the duel lyrics portray something underneath the song itself.
