Idk why but the red faced demon appearing behind Josh in the kitchen haunted me for YEARS after i first saw it.
I also shat myself
I think it's because it plays on multiple primal fears at once. Like a high contrast in colours without a pattern, unusual facial features (especially the eyes), sudden loudness and a perceived threat in someones blind spot.
But yeah it scared the absolute shit out of me too and is stuck in my memory forever whether I like it or not 😂
@@purelokiii7716pics?
I still remember the comment of this one guy that was like: "F u dude! I was scratching my balls when this scene came up and I almost ripped my dick off!" Always makes me laugh for some reason because I can picture that shit actually happen.
It's because of the fact the movie goes out of its way to not show the demon, then out of nowhere its abruptly shown for a single frame, maybe more.
Enough where the audience sees something is in the shot that isn't normal, but not long enough in the frame where we can look at it to recognize what it is.
Then the music score creates a jumpscape and then the mother screams in reaction, so the audience empathize and also is shocked.
It was all carefully orchestrated.
I love that the actor that plqys Dalton is still the same person, definitely is a horror movie icon in his own right now.
Yeah and I was surprised at how good of an actor he was as an adult!
WOW YES I was wondering that. I'm only half through the video && I wish more movies would seek out the same actors.
They definitely shouldn't of killed her off that early though. They never actually kill the demons do they?? Wonder if its the longer you stay in the further the more demonic you become. 🤔
The consistency sells the story! He is such a great actor!
Hey at least Dalton was able to reface his demons like his dad in the first and second film that eventually killed the black bride
I think they killed off Loraine Lambert too early. She would’ve been able to connect the story line faster leaving more room for the back story of the demon. The biggest question is where did it originate and why is it so fixated on Dalton over any other family member?
They explained that first movie . Bc of his ability to astral project . He’s even a better astral projector then his father .
@@bdixie3290yup and because he wasn’t afraid as well
The prequel movies kinda explain this. The Red Face Demon followed Elise for most of her life because of her abilities and then in the Last Key while they were trying to get Melissa back to her body, they opened a red door and saw Dalton fall off the ladder. The demon was following and saw Dalton and selected him as a new target. If you're looking for origins of where he comes from, there isnt much else.
I agree about them killing Loraine to early and too young. I assumed the actress wasn't available. But it would've been nice to see her and Renai team up like they did in the first movie. They reassigned the "Protector of family secrets" to Renai.
guys i saw a theory on youtube sayng that the red demon is dalton himself but from the future there are some similarities the hairstyle i mean not quit the same but im sure if the demon was not bald his hair would look exaclty like dalton almost they both are artist the demon love his marionnet and the director even said the demon painted his face red and dalton is an artist and they both wear red both the demon and dalton in the first movie was wearing red pijama look maybe that theory went too far but what do you guys think
I think every installment of the insidious franchise will always be a little bit of a let down, the fist Insidious was just so unique and chilling. So many moments from that film that stick with you forever. None of the other movies can hold a candle to it.
The scene with the mom showing the photos of the bride getting closer and closer to Josh haunted me for years. Such an awesome movie packed full of memorable scenes.
No number 2 was the best
Chapter 2 was def the best one
in my opinion 1 and 2 are good. it really scared me while 3 and 4 didn't do shit. 5th felt more like an action movie.
Yeah the first one SCARED THE PISS OUT OF ME LOL. I almost wonder if it's not the movies that aren't as scary as they go on or that we get used to the world that it revolves around! and we just gain an immunity to the fear.
I've seen a shit ton of horror films over the years. I can genuinely state that the thing showing it's face behind the woman at the table frightened me when I saw it. Nothing before or since got me like that did.
The alien at the birthday party in Signs. Always got me
@@jaxsazerac4904 lol, yeah I get you. I found that cool more then scary. The way Phoenix really sells that scene too so good.
"Move children Vamonos".
It's awesome .
Its just Darth Maul on drugs for me. Not very scary now ay?
@@deathstroke2697 I get you but still. Shit me up .
Same, you know it's coming and it's still a jumpscare. It's not at all scary later when you see all of it.
What was truly disturbing was none of the demons but a crying woman in the corner of the house in the further from the first or second movie, the implications speak for themselves, she had just died seemingly within the hour and she's there all alone struggling to reconsile losing her life being trapped in the void, nobody to talk to
That was terrifying, she was innocent destined to succumb to the madness which will consume her there
It's so scary because we'd all react like that understanding we are dead, just being beamed there from everyone we knew
It was a blink and you'll miss it, but it was very sad
Something like that had also happened on the series "The Haunting of Bly Manor" .
My take on the Red Door.. is you cannot run away from your past, you have to confront them and end it in a proper way.
literally every horror movie premise haha
The characters literally spell out the message at the end
That smiling family, the smiling girls by the clock, the boy running, those scenes will forever be grained in my mind
Definitely gonna binge the INSIDIOUS saga before Red Door.
@@mariosonicfan1494 Why do you keep spamming this?

I’m watching this because I agreed to take my friend’s son to see it. I’m a wimp with horror movies, and I’m hoping this will somewhat inoculate me ahead of time.
I wish my mom was as open as you. She thinks horror has no place and all media should be happy 24/7 like Mario.
@aidan1445 😂 You literally have no idea how old that said son is. I feel like you meant that extremely backhandedly. That son could be 17 😂 Don't be a dick
This is the first horror movie I’ve seen in theaters. I thought it was great! A few jump scares and uncomfortable moments, but it wasn’t as scary as a lot of other horror movies. It did a really good job of making me curious about the world they are living in!
The Red Door in some cases felt more like a natural conclusion to this series and its themes than anything that strives to be a typical horror movie. Wrapping up the narratives of generational trauma in a satisfying way seemed more important to the creative team than making a *scary* movie. Which is COMPLETELY acceptable in my opinion following the haunting scares and discomfort that the series preceding it provided.
That's my opinion too! Also to add to that, the series has gotten long now, the audience needs to accept that and by that as well, the creators won't be able to sustain the horror and scare factor. The movie series was so good that it was able to do it for this long in fact! So there will be a diminishing return on the scares at this point so giving the movie the finality it deserves is far more important at this point (and they succeeded in my opinion!) than trying to make it have the scares and horror the first one gave us :)
The red faced demon is a phobophage, a fear eater. They draw power from the torment they cause, but they have to keep their victims from getting so broken down that they accept it. The best solution is to treat the problem like routine maintenance, "if I leave my room with open shadows, I'll see shapes. So I have a night light."
On the topic of how it affects the people interacting with them, the Dalton's never INVITED anything in, they were a target of opportunity based on a window of vulnerability. Red door shows a girl who did invite something in, and she is the door. She needs to close it on her end, from the point she let something in, or one by one tell each that they've violated the offer to come forth in hospitality
awesome nearly a hour long vid !! must of been a lot of work making this! thanks man we appreciate it
No problem!
I think the last key really shed light of the fact that Elise opened all the red doors which is why she stayed around after her death to close them. I think the demon that haunted Dalton was able to snatch Dalton after she opened the attic door and seen him on the floor after his fall. I don't know why they aren't pulling at that thread more.
even though the red door was not as good as it could have been, i still loved the nostalgia that it gave me of seeing the same family and actors all these years later, i was sad at the beginning when i realized they had divorced and everyone had bad relationships, i wish they kept josh's mum in it though, insidious 1 & 2... masterpiece's, number 3 very weak, number 4 a bit better, and the red door was good but i think it could have been so much better, over all, i love the franchise its a fave of mine, memories of seeing them all in the cinema will stay with me
I've enjoyed all the insidious movies, including The Red Door now. I think there are enough scary parts in the film. I hope the Lambert family can now have some well-deserved peace and happiness. The post credit scene gives you the hint of something else to come. I would love to see Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne back again. Time will tell.
Cant believe this film doesnt explain any lore or backstory about Lipstick Face Demon, i was so eager to see this as the conclusion to the main franchise but it doesn't seems like a proper conclusion to the Lambert's Storyline because of the post-credit scene.
Yeh the worldbuilding basically stopped after Chapter 2 :( Daltons ability to affect the Red Door through his painting was a nice addition, but they could have done so much more.
@@filmcomicsexplained they could've give us an explaination further on how Dalton sealed the red door forever by painting it black. It doesn't make any sense tbh.
@@mariosonicfan1494 bro you said that to me multiple times and no doubt Jenna Ortega won't appeared in the franchise because how she's gotten bigger as a celebrity.

The Red Door was good. I liked the mix of psychological fallout from the first and second movie with the horror.
Great video, mate. 55 minutes. You put some serious work into this one 👍
Thanks a ton!
Red door was fun, had to look away during that MRI scene, actual nightmare come to screen
That was the scariest part of the entire movie imo.
Yes! Such a great idea!
I was terrifies of the demon jump scare when it was behind the dude, until I heard the director explain that it painted itself with lipstick, naming it the lipstick demon which completely destroyed all remnants of any fear I had…….
Thanks a ton, Niyat. You're a champ!
I really liked the red door. It wa so suspenseful and built so well with the demon stalking dalton. Just needed a more drawn out and scary end
I'm not a film critic but I know what I like and what imprints in my mind after watching it or wanting to watching it again. This entire franchise, never disappointed me.All the casts endeared themselves to the audience. It's just right for me. It's not exploiting the success and just played on in it's natural conclusion in a beautiful way.

Another example of milking a series that could’ve been concluded a few films ago. I really liked the first film the most. Awesome video and thanks for doing this one
This was a great analysis and critique! You really captured the good and bad about the franchise. I love these movies, but the flaws you pointed out definitely resonated with me.
Have you done Sinister in this same long form? That movie really creeped me out, in fact it put me in a funky headspace for days...
I've covered the first film, but not the second one yet. Its on the to do list!
I remember growing up watching Lee as a movie reviewer on The Recovery show with Angus , The Enforcer lol You could tell all the way back then that he was definitely going into the industry : )
Good solid video, appreciated.
While watching Red Door i was wondering the whole time what happened to Allison after that cliffhanger when Tucker and Specs cameo happened I was hoping they mention in their video they helped a girl name Allison out who was in "coma" and they reveal she astral projected deep in the further but they had help of Elise and Carl to bring her back then mention the lipstick red face demon when Dalton was watching their video
The scene of Alice’s dog barking at the dark is the reason why I find dogs barking at nothingness one of the freakiest things ever.
I heard that this movie could have been better of it had been released back in 2019, and that it may not be the final chapter in the series.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the women in black cameo in the red door movie.
wow. well done
Although, the lastest addition had very sucky scares, it was still a good plot of how a family progresses afterwards. I found the movie touchu and emotional as it shows how a father deals with the supernatural and how an entire family is still affected.😢
The red face man in the r3flection on the wi dow when theyre hugging is a nice touch thats baaarely visible so a lot had to have missed it which is how those scares shouuuld be
the scariest thing is that I personally think that the further is the most accurate depiction of what it is really like on the other side
Based on what? Proven by what? Anyone who insists they know what’s going on is trying to sell you something.

Shit when I was younger and once as an adult I had these dreams that I was entirely aware inside of and capable of guiding myself. Haopened exactly like the further, I could only see my house I grew up in and everything else around it was just darkness. My tree which was huge was shaking very wildly and all the blinds in my house were gone, I was standing on the sidewalk in front of the house staring into the darkness of the windows and when seeing my window I woke up from the dream state to my closet creaking open. A man in a purple coat and top hat came out reaching to me and I got up and ran through him crying to my mom, I was like 4 years old when that occurred. When I was around 19 I had the same exact dream occur but when I awoke I just felt super uneasy and anxious about everything for a bit.

So in chapter 2 the killer spirit is a mentally disturbed man who was abused into cross dressing (as a child)by his crazy mother... however that story today is seen as "brave" or "affirming."God help our society
The red-faced demon reminded me of Darth Maul 🤷🏻♀️ I did think that it was the creepiest moment of the film but sadly it was revealed in the trailers at the time so it lost a bit of its impact for me…
Original Insidious when the demon pops up has haunted me for years. Only now, after around 10 years am I no longer afraid of seeing it
Let's finally defeat Darth Mall for the last time
@@mariosonicfan1494chapter 2 ending takes place after Josh and Dalton had their memories blocked and Red Door takes place nine years later he was forced let Allison go via Carl or Elise. Unless Demon traveled back in time to Allison home since he couldn't get young or older Dalton.
The girl who got hit by a car, the car ABSOLUTE had time to stop or wasn't looking. Like she was there for plenty of time
I remember I went to the movies to see it and called she was gonna get hit literally 3 seconds later bang 😅
Whoever was behind that wheel had an agenda. 😂
That hit was personal. 😂
Wow. I had a slight memory of the 3rd flim but the 4th I guess I've also seen but literally barely remember that one.
Obviously the first two are the best....but I loved the two follow ups as well....they were all unsettling. I haven't seen the new one yet but that's because it's been so long and it's hard to force myself to give a crap about any new installments. But I'll check it out at some point.
This genre is too disturbing for me, I could not sit through even 5 minutes of these films. But I enjoy good storytelling! Your reviews and analysis is the only way I can experience it :) Thank you!
Niyat is a brilliant narrator and he makes everything he discusses fascinating 👌
Please explore The Endless! Underrated movie.
Chapter 2 was where it started teatering. I think they could've recovered, but Chapter 3 kind of solidified the fact that it wasn't gonna get any better. They should have stuck with the Lamberts, even in different timelines, because at least we already cared about them.
Last movie kinda did that
I’m so excited they are finally making the Darth Maul spin off movie
He had to forget the about the further so that he could start exorcising demons in the Conjuring.
Dear Niyat

the film was so good i watched it last weekend.
Oooh a long video = 👌👌👌
In one of the movies they are able to take objects into the further by holding onto or wearing them prior to entry. I wonder if it would be possible to wear armor/padding and or bring weapons into the further. The movie might be a lot shorter if you bring in the GhoOoOst glock
😂😂😂😂
Lmfao ghost glock, a boo-blicky if you will.
I love you man! Thank you for these videos they’re so entertaining to me and keep my mind off things I shouldn’t think about.
I think the reason red face possessed dalton immediately in the red door is because he already almost succeeded so red face knew inside and out, how to possess him
I think the reason he possessed him so quickly is because they made Dalton forget who he is and so he had no mechanism to protect himself. As a kid he was actually pretty strong. He lasted months in that coma warding off red face and other entities. All those years they should have trained him up.
@@mariosonicfan1494ffs we all know about Alison, it doesn't mean she has anything to do with the Lamberts. Let it take on its own movie. You're literally everywhere talking about Alison when barely anyone knows who she is

Ok, ngl, this looks promising about the Red Door
Havent watched it yet but I want to
When the red faced demon kills Qui Gon, I can't get over how badly that made me feel.
Things I would have done differently, have the movie start off with Lorraine on her death bed in the hospital. I don't mind them killing her off, but why not have her show once more beforehand? Barbara Hershey I'm sure would have been on board to a cameo. So we have Lorraine with Josh visiting her. We learn she is dying and this scene is also a good chance to lead into the whole storyline about Josh's dad where Lorraine tells Josh that he dwelled into some twisted black magic and was succumbed by it. This would not be the last time we see of her though. I would not have had Josh and Renai be divorced. One thing I never understood was how Renai was so troubled by Josh being around with the kids due to the trauma, yet still allowed him to have co custody, so why not just leave them together. I also don't buy Renai's reasoning for divorcing and just giving up on him, but they do still go through their marriage issues as a result. Instead of the Chris character, I would have made her the now older version of the little girl at the end of the second movie apart of the new family dealing with the ghosts who had the gift to see them and Elise, the sister of that girl Allison who was how the target. It bothered me how that was not touched on here. Including her would have tied that story with the Lamberts. The girl would be familiar with the whole thing, share Dalton's gift, and even give us an update on what happened after the second movie. We would have learned Allison died after being saved by the demon due to the stress it had on her. As Dalton and this girl watch that video of Specs and Tucker, we see them interviewing Allison before her death. While Josh is at his mother's house digging for into on his dad, instead of being chased by his dad, this would in fact be the red-faced demon. This is where Lorraine comes in as a ghost and scares it away. I found it a missed opportunity Foster was not there when Renai is telling Josh the truth about what he dealt with just to have him come strolling in afterwards. He should have been there to hear this as well, him and Kaley, so the whole family minus Dalton would have been there. And during the climax when Dalton and Josh are both facing the demon again, we learn from Lorraine that the demon is actually Josh's father to bring about a twist and even further connection to the family. The demon is unable to be redeemed and with Lorraine's help, she locks him in the further while Dalton still paints over the door to seal it. The art teacher would be the one telling Dalton to do this as I would have a moment between them where Dalton tells her the truth to give her more of an important role to the story. So yeah, more Lorraine, the little girl at the end of the second movie instead of Chris, the demon being Josh's father, update on Allison, and Josh and Renai not being divorced, and another moment between Dalton and the art teacher and that would have made the sequel feel more whole and tying all the loose ends.
@@mariosonicfan1494 You mean ISNT mentioned, and I know this. I state the movie doesn't continue that moment in the second movie. My scenario is alternating the story so that it incorporates the Allison storyline.

They definitely should've concluded this series with two or three parts instead of five. The longer it went on the less original it felt and that suspense isn't nearly as much as the first one.
yeah i wasnt keen on how dalton went from slowly remembering things, to all of a sudden being almost as proficient as elise was after it taking her a lifetime to master as much as she had they couldve EASILY done a part 1 and part 2. not gonna lie it wouldve been awesome from jim wan to come back for the final lambert chapter
Not to try and give them excuses, but it was established in the first movies that his connection was much more deeper and stronger than others.
Finally finished the video, the only one I've seen was the 3rd. I guess that put me off the series because all i remember is the red dude and NONSTOP JUMPSCARE STINGERS
I always find that film critics hate sequels unless they are very different from the original film. They hate that audiences are ok with the familiar and "tired" tropes. I sometimes feel like they expect every movie to be original and Oscar worthy and when they fall short they get prissy about it.
