I am honestly quite disappointed in this series. They had the opportunity to bring the animated series to a reality, and they couldn’t even maintain the characters personality.
I just realised ozai never did any of the conquest that took place in ATLA. He used zuko to capture Aang and used Azula to capture omashu and even ba sing se. Ozai's children always had more potential than he did. I think he saw that and didn't like it
now that you say that he also usurped the throne from his brother, and if i remember correctly, there was also the complot to kill his own father the previous fire lord, damn what an asshole😆but a smart one for sure
@@vichonoma And it's very strongly implied that the assassination of his father and giving him the throne was all done by his wife, Ursa. It's hilarious how mediocre he is.
@@HubiKoshi I recall hearing once that Ozai considered the entirety of the fire nation and the people in it as extensions of himself. This apparently included his own children which is why he had no issue with manipulating, using, and discarding people as he pleased since he saw them as existing to do his will. Consequently, he saw any attack on or resistance to the fire nation as a personal attack on himself. This allows him to be angered at setbacks or losses despite caring nothing for the lives of his people and he could take credit for their successes since as extensions of himself, their victories were his as well. The man apparently has a very high opinion of himself if this is true and I somehow have little doubt that he would think of himself this way. I recall one work of fiction I once saw in which a character was the same manipulating, using, betraying, and murdering both enemies and his own people at his own whim. Even his own children wanted him dead and when finally meeting his end at the hands of his family and enemies he dismissed all of them as being nothing without him existing in the universe. It was even noted when he stated that his children abuse and misused their power that he should not be surprised considering he was both their role model and their chief tormentor. The only reason they didn't rebel against him years ago after the suffering he put them through was because they were never certain of victory.
@@HubiKoshi its not a sign of weakness tho, he had to push the blame on ursa and banish her, if he had openly killed his father he would have been labeled an usurper and dethroned. It was all part of a plot - exchanging zuko's life for azulon's and ursa had to make this decision and was openly called a traitor. He was smart using other people so he never risked failure and he was a skilled bender but why use it if you have a sharp mind that is enough?
And honestly I prefer this iteration of Ozai, at least from Azula's perspective. Here, he's terrifying but also seems to show pride in her, as opposed to being an intimidating shadow bearing down on both his children.
Same. Its weird because some aspects of this series season 1, primarily Azula and Ozai, I prefer to the original, but the series is still a mixed bag for me.
Am I the only one who thinks her bending looks pathetic. How is it that Zuko’s bending looks soo much better, while Azula is supposed to be the gifted bender?
Everyone, please make me as your enemy or something, but I FREAKING HATE TY LEE. Until this day. I even never find her cute, and still prefer both the Cabbage Man and Joo Dee (that one Ba Sing Se lady) over her.
The movie version has only few minutes of screen time and didnt even firebend so I dont get your point how the "Movie that doesnt exist" is much better.
well, this version of avatar live action has its own charm, i see ... ozai is not a total monster that only wanted more and more power ... like in cartoon version. he is more humane, it's like he is not actually a bad person for say ... just he did cruel thing because he wanted to be a good king for his people. and im okay if the character are not 100% the same with cartoon version, just think this avatar is the alternate universe.
I can't believe I have to say this, but I love one-dimensional Ozai much better than this live action version, where they are trying to attempt to make him more rounded by essentially stripping him of his character defining personality traits. Cartoon Ozai was just menacing and commanding. His narcissism and sadistic ways revealed so much of why Zuko and Azula are the way they are. Ozai was the big bad, who wanted to burn the world so that he could rule what's left of it. I wish they expanded on that instead of showing his sympathetic side, which was nonexistent in the series. Not every character has to be sympathetic. They can be evil as long as they are doing something interesting for the story. Omg.
Zuko: My sister is talented but has no honor. Katara: My mother used to talk about honor. Iroh: Well let's change the subject and have some tea. Sokka: I don't need tea, I need food, I'm too hungry to even joke right now! Toph: You look fine to me. Sokka: Thanks! I...you did that on purpose, didn't you?
The thing that seems to be missing is the smirk, the overwhelming self confidence, the cool sense of total control. Azula is a grade-a narcissist and I don't get that here
Daniel is born for his Ozai role. If there as a cake for perfection then Daniel Dae Kim/Fire Lord Ozai ate all the cake and there was nothing left for Azula XD.

Yes they got bending wrong in nearly every instance in this show. One does not ever create lightning from their body. Its charged and taken from the air then redirected by the fire bender. They did that in the animation as well and even bend it with their minds...wo why is THAT somehow bad?
I thought that too so I checked the compilation vid of Zuko Firebending.
While he predominantly uses fist, he also uses open palm strikes.
I am honestly quite disappointed in this series. They had the opportunity to bring the animated series to a reality, and they couldn’t even maintain the characters personality.
You can't bring a fictional world to reality
@@kei7540 Lord of the Rings argue otherwise.
@@akaneriyun4774 it's still fiction
0:29 here her fire turned blue for a second fuego🔥🔵
Her looks is too innocent and cute to be Azula
IN WHAT DIMENSION IS THIS AZULA
Don't tell me it was Mai who stopped her from killing someone and not Ty Lee
The firebending in this show is terrifying
1:26 goofy ah move
her hair changing every move lmaoo
This series could've been so much more. Too bad they focused on... nothing.
Cant wait to see
Azula vs Katara & Zuko
Book 3
Azula's actor actually did a good job here the only thing that bothers me is her thick side bangs it should be thinner.
Agree, it look annoying as heck
Ty Lee esta bien, con Azula y Mai escogieron a las primeras EGirl Influencer que encontraron en Instagram.
Да да, чёлка особено не удалась. Ну и щачло поменьше бы еще ))))))
The scar is on the wrong side.
cartoon Azula first shown was already bad bitch. Netflix azula has her build to being one, so we see her growth from the start.
I like both iterations
And honestly I prefer this iteration of Ozai, at least from Azula's perspective. Here, he's terrifying but also seems to show pride in her, as opposed to being an intimidating shadow bearing down on both his children.
Besides it's still book 1
What more from the rest of the seasons 👀
Same. Its weird because some aspects of this series season 1, primarily Azula and Ozai, I prefer to the original, but the series is still a mixed bag for me.
Please stop.
Nah, that's dumb. This doesn't describe what Zuko says about Azula and Zuko when they born.
This shows they are basically equals
Fatzula can't hurt you
Am I the only one who thinks her bending looks pathetic.
How is it that Zuko’s bending looks soo much better, while Azula is supposed to be the gifted bender?
As a kid I had a crush 🥰 on Ty Lee
Pathetic.
@@JoutaiSasuLover
Why?
Cuuute! Ty Lee and Zuko are fire nation favorite crushes for many fans. Azula as well, but she's a bit too... y'know, crazy. 😅
Well, that was obvious
Everyone, please make me as your enemy or something, but I FREAKING HATE TY LEE. Until this day. I even never find her cute, and still prefer both the Cabbage Man and Joo Dee (that one Ba Sing Se lady) over her.
Flame turning blue for a second is a nice touch
The actress that played Suki should’ve been casted as Azula.
this azula looks so round whereas the cartoon azula looks sharp and fit. Also her fire is not blue :(
0:06 Chameleon squad (Cobra kai spinning off show) actor played is "Allison Helena Nolan."
You know netflix screwed up when movie azula has a better casting than this one.
They already screwed up by pre-production, the creators leaving because of creative differences.
The movie version has only few minutes of screen time and didnt even firebend so I dont get your point how the "Movie that doesnt exist" is much better.
I loved how they showed Ozai was actually a great involved father. Tbh, if I was born in the fire nation I’d be proud
They literally cast one of famous Japanese actor and killed him in 30second
What’s his name :)
@@philfever9375 Aragog Shelob is his name according to google
@@philfever9375 That one actor, who says the thing. Oh something.
The Actress seems more menacing with her hair down…when it’s tied up her face seems softer and less threatening.
They messed up Azula so bad.
They introduced her to soon and don’t know why the two meanest characters are soft.
Lightning bending was so cool, this actress nailing young Azula character perfectly
huh what lightning 💀
@@mob4430u blind?
🤣🤣🤣
Nah lmao this is dog shit 😂
This is not azula
mai and ty lee sleeping while azula's practicing is so awkward like -- bruh
Ozai casting: 100
Azula: -100
1:44 The "Not disappointed" Asian dad look
0:24 azula hitting like litlle girl 😂
My fave avatar character. And they gave me her
This is not Azula
Watch the cartoon then 😱😱
Her cheeks are too squishy to be Azula 🥺
Azula is supposed to be proving herself, zuko is this is a bad script and where is the blue fire? Also mai needs to be recast i think azula as well
live action azula looks so cute and innocent 😭
She's not even looks cute she's just Fat
well, this version of avatar live action has its own charm, i see ... ozai is not a total monster that only wanted more and more power ... like in cartoon version. he is more humane, it's like he is not actually a bad person for say ... just he did cruel thing because he wanted to be a good king for his people. and im okay if the character are not 100% the same with cartoon version, just think this avatar is the alternate universe.
Azula is ozais baby, he'll never scold her
0:00 Oh look it's Kevin Tran from Supernatural! Ooh, is the actor playing a notable role in the...oh he's dead
They depicted her wrong. And they seem to have failed to notice that most firebenders Firebend with a closed fist, not an open palm.
The thing that seems to be missing is the smirk, the overwhelming self confidence, the cool sense of total control. Azula is a grade-a narcissist and I don't get that here
That's not Azula, that's Akula
azula has blue fire. And Azula is supposed to be calm, smart, tactical and manipulate. never angry emotionally.
Azula in cartoon looks better than the live action
Finding a Drawing look better than an Actual person 😂
Daniel is born for his Ozai role.
If there as a cake for perfection then Daniel Dae Kim/Fire Lord Ozai ate all the cake and there was nothing left for Azula XD.
Azula actress looks like Moana, cute & not intimidating. Azula should be intimidating, slim and fierce looking not cute 😅
YESSSS
Hope Azula's actress will be changed in the next season cause judging by her looks, this doesn't fit the animation Azula in my opinion.
Well, too bad no one cares about your opinion.
@@CKFIERCE1 U certainly care about my opinion otherwise u wouldn‘t be rude for no reason. Must suck to be so negative inside like u.
@@CKFIERCE1wow and your mother didnt care about you
Animation azula wasn’t even realistic to her actual age though
Exactly this azula looks too adorable which is not wat it's supposed to be
Much better than the old avatar movie
they flopped at casting azula and mai so bad these two was supposed to have a siren face and they both casted doe ones that’s why it’s not giving at allll…
and azula is not giving azula at all in terms of both visual and acting😭 they did these two actors dirty now people are shaming them. they are good actors but they don’t fit the characters at all. its like taking away the femme fatale roles from angelina jolie. it just not giving im sorry…
I was hoping they would cast someone like 666cultclare666 (from tiktok) as azula… what a waste of opportunity.
I think they mixed Azula and Zuko up cause that’s not Azula💀
Omg yall don’t even have to body shame the actress. She’s doing great.
Body shaming is never cool but lets be honest the actress isn't "doing great"
@@HamAndCheezethen again we’re fans, the directors casted the actress for a reason to play Azula and we’re just not seeing it yet.
Ladies and gentlemen, azula aka Daddy's little monster.
I hate to be nitpicky but it feels wrong seeing lightning coming out of her palms like that. Every instance of lightning we see in atla and atlok, lightning is expelled through the fingertips. It genuinely feels like they're just doing this for the sake of having flashy vfx.
you’re not nitpicking tho
Yes they got bending wrong in nearly every instance in this show. One does not ever create lightning from their body. Its charged and taken from the air then redirected by the fire bender. They basically just made it the same thing as regular fire bending because they’re so obsessed with the game of thrones aesthetic of uncontrolled fireballs
1:26 a funny dance is not how lightning is made
That was brutal for Ozai to burn those teenage rebels to death! Not to mention the amuse look on his and Azula's faces! Those teenagers should have known better. Entrance was too easy. 🤦♀️
lol Azula would never tell her father now and stand up against him
They ruined Azula. The real Princess Azula was smooth, beautiful, funny, level headed and cunning.
