- Ferns are one of the most beautiful indoor plant you can have, especially Boston fern or Ruffle fern. I have shown in this video few different varities of ferns and spoken in detail about Ruffle fern. Ferns require a lot of humidity and indirect low light. Water it as soon as the medium gets dry. Boston fern loves moisture. Fertilizers can be sprayed 4 to 5 times in a year. Ferns are susceptible to pests and spider mites. Treat it immediately with a pesticide. Boston fern is best suited as a hanging plant.

Your plants look lovely! I have a very small fluffy ruffles fern. I've had it many years but it doesn't do any thing. I transplanted it giving it a rich mix. I'm hoping this is what it needed. On the other hand, I have s Boston fern that has tripled in size since last fall! Thanks for all the valuable information!

Your ferns look so big and healthy. I wish my ferns (boston sword, boston macho, holly, maiden hair, dicksonia and ruffles) looked as good. I think I will have to repot with more peat instead of perlite. I bottom water by filling the trays every couple of days. Great videos.

very informative video and gardening is definitely therapeutic ! Also, when do you re-pot these ferns. ? Is there an indicator - leaves falling, changing color...for the first time i saw "string of pearls" plant, it was incredible, hope to buy it soon.
Ferns doesn't require regular reporting......ruffle, and Boston fern, you can repot wen it is totally rootbound. May be after 3 years or so...

Sangita your Bird's nest fern is about 7-8 years. There are brown spores at the back of the leaves. Keep that pot over 2 bricks on a bed of freshly prepared soil mixture n when you water your fern also dampens the soil around the pot. Can lightly brush off the spores so they fall over the damp soil. All the best.
Trying....... Not yet succeeded..... I think I should shift it from the green house.....to somewhere wer ter is soil and trees...... May be next year I will get some results......thank you

Can we plant ruffle ferns in shallow pots....that dose not have holes? If yes , then how often should water and mist it.

I hope you have seen my full video on ferns.... If not please watch the full episode....most of the things are covered in that video. It is always advisable not to use shallow pots for ferns..... Ferns need lot of moisture....but water logging under the pot can kill the plant. So please use a pot with a proper drain hole.
Use cocopeat as the main component of your medium.... It can retain lot of moisture....if your are living in a tropical area....then you can water it thrice a week.... Best way to check is dig your finger in the medium and check....if u feel it's dry, water it immediately.

May I know what fertiliser do you use for your ferns, and the intervals?
Ferns doesn't need regular fertilizers.... You can use organic and chemical fertilizers rarely for them....

Yes...... Direct light should not fall on the plant..... And maintain good humidity..... It should grow well

Leaves drying is less humidity or moisture..... increase humidity
What is the pesticide to use for ferns and other plant's , which doesn't harm the plants?
