Europe? Via Frangenica. Canterbury to Rome, lots of stealth camping options especially across France. You cross the Alps. You can do it in less then the 80 day visa limit. See Efron's vids about it.
Hey Matt, I’m sorry your feet are still bothering you. I’m glad that you decided to stay at a hotel, you definitely need to rest your feet. Hopefully things will look brighter for you soon. Take care and stay safe! 😊
Not sure if you’ve done the Wonderland Trail, but that would be a nice short trail for you to hike in the late Spring before the Yukon. Good prep for you to get your hiking legs. Hope soaking your foot in the ice bucket provided some relief. That and the occasional cold stream or river has helped my ankle/heel quite a bit during my hikes. Sometimes river crossings never felt so good.! -Geo
Abnormally sore feet are not fun! I have rebuilt feet (lots of years on steel decks and concrete piers wearing shoes made by the lowest bidder) and my orthopedic surgeon recommended Orange Insoles. He's also a back packer and former infantry officer so knows the challenges. Has worked pretty well for me. Good luck!
Agree about insoles. The ones that come with the shoe are worthless. He should just carry both insoles so that he could ease into wearing the more supportive ones.
Two other thoughts I had about the foot pain: the soles of those new balances are probably not as rigid as trail shoes. You mentioned that you hyperextend your knees, and I think it’s possible you could be hyperextending your feet too. Also it’s probably more important to have more refuges soles out west than up until this point. Second: I’ve had success rotating shoes. I think when one shoe starts bothering a specific area of the feet, a different shoe wouldn’t. Then it takes time for whatever that pair bothers to register on your feet. Glad to see you’re icing your feet!
It's going to be more than "a couple days" from Seattle to Whitehorse, a distance of around 1800 miles depending on which way you go (I recommend the Icefields Parkway to Jasper, Yellowhead Hwy to Prince George, and north through Hudson's Hope to Ft. St. John to AK Hwy). Those aren't interstate miles either, although the roads are pretty good for the most part. It's not a drive you want to be in a hurry for anyway.
It sounds like you need to find a place to give you a good foot massage or get some kind of foot massager device (maybe something light, cause I'm sure you don't need more to haul around with you LOL) I used to bike that trail in the 90's, I'm sure its a LOT busier these days. Are people really giving you that hard a time about thinking you're homeless? Not that it would surprise me, I just thought Colorado was such an accepting place of kinds 🤔😀
I'm not an expert, but I think if you sit down with a consular officer and lay out an actual plan, you could probably get a longer visa EDIT: I was referring to Matt talking about obstacles to thru hiking in Europe. I apologize for the lack of context
The NCT is much nicer than the ADT, especially the beautiful Lake Superior area, and it’s certainly much better than what you have been walking through in Kansas and Colorado.
denver apparently are having trouble with migrants in apartments in denver? have you heard? looks like the trail is outside downtown, that bike trails looks like a nice trail to ride. i hope whatever the bad news is not super serious.
@@adventurescents4069migrants aren’t stalking and assaulting people that already appear to be homeless. Also, he went through east St. Louis, which is a notoriously dangerous area.
I literally hiked through Aurora, trust me, it's always been rough. Just a question of who but this sort of thing isn't new to the area. Edit: I did the Denver Orbital Trail
I look forward to your Yukon trip and now even more excited that you will use starlink to upload videos. I enjoy these regular adventures! 🎉
Thanks for discussing future hikes, it's very interesting to your fans. Good luck, I hope you can finish the ADT this year.

Great idea on the Starlink heard good stuff about it .

Sorry about the sad news. Hope your foot starts behaving better.

congrats on 100+ patrons 🥳
Thanks! Kind of shocking we’ve reached that many!
If you are looking for a good hike idea, The Shire to Mount Doom has a great Ring to it! Just watch out for spiders!
Day 141. All caught up! Thank you Bishop for your adventure. I missed it while I was in elk camp.
Sorry about the sad news Matt.
I wondered if you had ever considered the American Perimeter Trail.

Time spent in resting feet is never completely wasted! They are your own personal ubers, so take care of them! Hike on, slowly and carefully. Tortoise

A trail I haven’t heard you talk about is the Oregon Desert Trail. Looks right up your alley. Gave that trail any thought?
I second the Oregon Desert Trail. Matt, also check out the Basin and Range Trail in Nevada. Look up seekinglost. He did it a couple of years ago.
Cape Wrath to Lands End in the UK might float your boat if you are thinking of a European adventure
This trail appears to be more on the expensive side as far as sleeping accommodations when compared to other trails?
We’ve had so much help from people along the way it’s really hard to say.
Hey Matt, sort of like it only hurts if I move or stay still?
What about the hayduke trail? That seems very challenging and different.

FYI it’s Mogollon, pronounced Muh-GOY-on.
I learned that the hard way on the AZT/GET and seem to have forgotten it since then…
so for that summer 2026 in europe, I live near FRA in germany and I'd totally host you for a night and drive you to the hexatrek start. just sayin.

Fox News doing it's best to scare people. Colorado has much lower crime than gun happy red states.

Why do you carry a tent and stay at a hotel every night
