- Jaby and Achara watch Wonka, the 2023 musical imagining a back story for the eponymous Willy Wonka from Roald Dahl's wildly popular children's book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Timothée Chalamet (Dune Part 2) stars as Wonka and is joined by Keegan-Michael Key (The Super Mario Bros), Matt Lucas (Little Britain), Olivia Colman (The Crown, Secret Invasion), Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) and Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water) in this all star cast. The music and set pieces in this film are dazzling setting it up there as one of our favorite films of 2023!

The fact that Noodle taught Willie to read so he would be able to read the message from his Mother at the end just makes it that much more special.
There is no reason that even ONE of these amazing songs shouldn’t have been nominated for an Oscar! Especially “A World Of Your Own”, that song honestly rivals “Pure Imagination” for me. And “Hat Full Of Dreams” is one of those songs you’re absolutely happy to have stuck in your head.
There is a time limit for when movies can be nominated and this movie came out too recently
It was eligible for the short list but not chosen from what I’ve read. And I agree A World of Your Own was my favorite song too and I just knew it would get nominated.
Only the two villain songs and the Oompa Loompa song were worth listening to
Plus costumes too
I'll be perfectly honest with you.
I really loved the movie and the songs.
But once i stepped out of the cinema, i couldn't remember a single song. All i had was the noodle apple scroodle rhyme.
And believe me, i tried. I really tried to remember the songs because songs are my jam and my adhd would make me think or sing the song constantly.
But i couldn't. The song while fun, were forgettable. Even now, while i can now remember the first chorus line. I can't remember anything else. Not even the instrumental.
And this is coming from someone who can insta remember any song i listen to once.
And even on the night i saw the cinema, i remarked at how forgettable the songs were. That there wasn't any showstoppers.
Sad but true.
We SERIOUSLY need more movies like this nowadays, Fun Lovable Cast who enjoys being on set, GOOD story, EMOTIONAL moments, and CATCHY songs!!!
U should watch some Indian movies
Me and my mom both said this reminded of us Matilda and we both felt there needs to be more feel good experiences with this level of care. We’re gonna watch the Paddingtons next
Yes sooooooo right. I wholeheartedly agree ❤❤❤
yeah im happy this movie hs no love interest we neeed more films like this with no love interest
By the way the chocolate treats were all (or most of them) real! They had their own chocolatier on set and the chocolate tea cups they ate on the boat in Wonka’s shop were made last minute on the day! The talent 🍫
Good thing the edible cups in this one were actually eatable and not wax like how Gene Wilder did it last minute in his take.
That’s what got me to finally check this movie out when I found out in the original movies that a lot of the props weren’t edible broke my heart I mean come on it’s a movie about candy factory
Maybe that’s how Willie Wonka came up with the idea of the golden ticket, because it was a golden ticket in the last piece of chocolate. His mom made before she died.
Pretty much. Much like how that piece of candy in the final number is the precursor to the Everlasting Gobstopper.
I can’t lie-loved Noodle so much and loved Wonka’s father-like relationship with her so tremendously that I wanted him to adopt her. I knew wasn’t going to happen but still wanted it 😂
I got a bigger brother kind of feel. I feel he was more fatherly towards Charlie
Agreed! I definately saw Wonka as more of a big brother to Noodle than a dad (but that's probably just due to his young age).
She has terrible acting skills
@@adeptusmechanicus5777 i don't think she was _amazing_ but she certainly wasn't terrible! she's young, I've never seen her ion anything before/heard of her, so this might be her first role. even if it's not, she's young and has plenty of time to improve, and i think she will considering she was fairly good already.
People who have watched 'Beautiful Boy' and 'Little Women', know how good Timothee's performance can be.
He is often considered to be the next Leonardo Di'Caprio. Pure gem💎
Just to clarify, that is indeed Timothée's real voice!
Is it?
Yes , it is in the credits as well it tells which people sang which songs @@Coco_1958
@@gohanbest8212 And he also talks about it in behind the scenes how some of it he had to record in a studio and some of it he sang on set.
Yup @@ValentinasWatching
I completely agree Jaby!!! I don’t care if it is a reboot, remake, legacy sequel etc if it’s good! Why wouldn’t I want to revisit a movie universe that is good, if the new project is also good.
Timothee Chalamet sang and danced in WONKA! This is his real voice! This is his real voice!
Timothee recorded the songs at Abbey Road studios!
WONKA gave me all the feels. ❤❤❤❤🍫🍫🍫🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩
As a diehard fan of the Gene Wilder version, I was soooo skeptical of this one. The trailer didn't help. But I watched this a few days ago and I was so pleasantly surprised. Timothee did a fantastic job and the supporting cast especially Noodle, were fantastic. The songs play over and over in my head. ❤
I love Timothee Chalamet 🥰
I hate the guy, he says who ever buys Harry Potter merch or watches Harry Potter movies, are supporting JK Rowling's hateful comments towards transgendered people, and that your a TERF. Or Transphobic.
The director made the Paddington movies!!!! If you like this those are even better pls check them out. Perfect movies.
And two of the producers, one worked on Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and the other was Roald Dahl’s Grandson!
Word of mouth has been great. It has made $550 mil. globally, so far.
on a $125M budget! 👏🏼
Timmy Tim Tim is such a great actor 🎉
But in RL he is a loser, I hate the guy, he says who ever buys Harry Potter merch or watches Harry Potter movies, are supporting JK Rowling's hateful comments towards transgendered people, and that your a TERF. Or Transphobic.
whoever did the sets and costumes definitely partook in "an incredible edible"
Super wholesome movie and at the end it tears me up
Yeah I would love a sequel to this tbh!! 🍫
It got ya right at the end there. Me too.
Now they need to bring wonka candy back
First good wonka movie, this was amazing
This movie better win an Oscar
I would've liked to see the oompa loompa making that drink while on the boat. Then as he finishes it, he puts on a blindfold and says "going flat" as he reclines in the chair attempting to nap.
The going flat part was funny when I first heard it.
Nonetheless. Thanks for the video/reaction. Cheers
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is 53 years old. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is 19 years old.
It is a wonderful movie, I was smiling all the way!
I loved this movie so much. The music was on point and I thought everybody in it was so good. Timothée really shined in this movie for me. Honestly I wouldn't mind a sequel where things got a little bit darker and led towards the reason why Gene Wilder's version is a little more jaded and wants to give his factory to a child.
This was so bonkers and fun!
Timothee did a fantastic job though he didn't quite channel Gene Wilder. But then again, who could?
I loved this movie more than I thought I would! The songs were great and it was pleasing to the eyes!!! Y'all should watch The Color Purple. It's also a musical adaptation of the stage show. It's really good too, with awesome songs. :-)
Also, there is a musical production! I actually saw the National Tour. I believe it's all closed now though. :-/
I'm usually not into musical movies but I really enjoyed this movie.
I mean Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was also a musical
Paul King directed Paddington 2 so I instantly knew this film would be equally as wholesome
I really enjoyed this movie. Way more than I thought cos I’m such a stickler for the original movie. Very glad I saw it in the theaters 🍫
Did anyone notice the names slugworth ficklegruber and prodnose where references from Charlie and the chocolate factory with Johnny depp
24:47. The music is lit and should get Oscar
26:50. I love the transition here
35:22 Have you seen Rowan Atkinson's skit of 'Toby the Devil'?
Surely you guys have to check out Paddington now! I can't believe so few channels have reacted to it
25:14. So ovservant of her 😂😂😊❤
Just out of curiosity have you guys seen the original Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory with Gene Wilder if you haven’t you should
Please watch Downton Abbey 😊
I adore chocolate so much!!
RT: critics 82%, audience 91%
Tbh I was more expecting to see his(Wonka's) adventures and him as his own character, with maybe the movie crescendoing with the Oompa Loompa land in which he tries to negotiate with them to work in his factory and not this story line really but thats just me
PADDINGTON 1 AND 2 REACTIONS PLS 🙏
You seemed to have the 2 movies, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" confused. Or at least I hope you had. You referred to the 'classic movie' as "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," which had Jonny Dep in it. The classic "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" had Gene Wilder in it. I wasn't impressed Jonny Deep's version.
this was the good end movie we still have to go through the bad end movie to get to the gene wilder movie
Please react to the movie "NOWHERE"
I just feel somehow this is just not going to be accepted for some reason.. It's great and so much fun.. I really hope people discover it and enjoy it..
My dad and mom got to watch this with Tom cruise as a Christmas present for her pretty dope wish I went lowkey cause my mom apparently fell asleep and my dad enjoyed it even though he hates musicals
I See Wonka Movie I Go Eat Chocolate 🍫& I Loves Wonka Movie
Not bad, I still think the Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp adaptations are better.
Timothée Chalamet. Screams like a girl in dune hishie go watch the video 13:43
He does
This has definitely become one of my absolute favourite movies. I saw it twice in cinema and bawled my eyes out both times the moment he turned around that golden ticket. And I left the theatre with such a warm feeling, dancing through the streets in the rain ❤ I still listen to the music all day and it hasn’t lost its magic yet.
They’ve done such a great job with this movie! ❤
So nice to see you guys seemed to enjoy it just as much as :)
Wonka is pure imagination, full of joy and whimsy.
You should see Bones and All and Beautiful Boy. He sings amazing.
He doesn’t sing in those movies.
This movies makes me tear up the earliest of any movie. All it takes for me are the opening notes to Pure Imagination
This movie brings me to tears, not a bit ashamed to admit it.
I life Olivia Coleman. Try Fleabag. She’s not the lead but she is so good when she’s in it.
Love this movie. Glad you both liked it. Thanks for sharing.
23:49 "Pliz tell me there's some Chocolate in the house‚" you say that now makes me feel I wanna go to the store and buy a lot lol😂😂😂
For some reason, since watching this movie I've had this theory that Noodle is the grandmother of Miss Honey from the 2022 Matilda. We know there's a Roald Dahl "universe" here - if you didn't catch it Mrs Scrubbit and Bleacher are implied to be the Twits at the end - so wouldn't be that far-fetched.
Oh- Oh, I quite like this theory-
These are just my own theories:
1) The giraffe, Abigail, is either the same one in ‘The Giraffe, The Pelly, and Me’ or it’s simply a reference to that Roald Dahl book.
2) The woman with the baby who asks Wonka for a sovereign may possibly be Charlie Bucket’s mother, and the baby may be Charlie. Considering that she’s the only person in the entire movie (not counting Noodle’s mother) who is in poverty, at least by appearance, it’s a safe assumption (but not confirmed).
I really liked this one. Just full of creativity, charm, and heart.
This movie made me cry. I'm a massive Timothée Chalamet fan and I would put this in my top 3.
You don’t know Paul King !?!?!???
He made the best movies ever made in Paddington 1&2. Please react to that.
If this community doesn't mind, I made an additional character to this movie (because I can't watch anything without adding my own little additional character/storyline).
Throughout the movie, we see a girl who is always in the background and always appears in Willie's daydreams and dances beside him in all the musical numbers.
🍫
In the flashback scene, when Willie's mom pinky promised him that when he shares his chocolate with the world "I'll be right there beside you," she actually says "We'll be right there beside you," as she hugs her stomach. And Willie says, "Soon, all I had left was her bar of chocolate. She took my little sister with her, before I could meet her."
💔
In the end, when Willie is sitting on the steps of the cathedral, the girl comes up from behind him and asks if he's waiting for someone. When he says yes, she asks if she can wait with him, and she sits next to him. Suddenly she shouts "MAMA" and races to embrace her mom. It takes Willie a second to realize it, but the girl was hugging his mom. All Willie could do was smile and cry as his mom and sister wave and blow kisses at him. As Willie blinks the tears out of his eyes, they dissappear and he's left there smiling and at peace.
😭
In the end, when Noodle reunites with her mom, (and Willie sings pure imagination) the scene is intercut with Willie being reminded of his sister and mom embracing and waving goodbye.
(Let me know if anyone cried or if it was just me)
😭🍫💔🥹❤
I AM SO GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT EITHER ADDS CHARACTERS IN OR PUTS MYSELF AS A SECONDARY CHARACTER OMG
This was so touching, oh my goodness..
🥺
Pure imagination describes this movie.
I love this movie and all of it's songs ❤️😍
I love this movie and all of it's songs 😍❤️
I didn’t expect much from it because “remake”. I love it.
The best movie
Have you seen CHICAGO ???? Is one of the best musical film.
Please watch the Paddington movies!
you haven't watched Paddington movies!!!??? Paul King directed those and you guys HAVE to watch those!!!
Balling crying over a movie about a man and chocolate
Man i loves yalls relationship so much, now you know she Didnt believe the chocolate cartel put the yeti sweat in there 😂😂
a lot of the people who didnt watch it probably had zero knowledge or intrest in the Gene Wilder version, and the people who were attacking the movie early one were the ones who loved the awful Johnny Depp version and refuse to watch any version of Wonka without their precious Depp in it
A wonderful reaction to a wonderful movie
I❤This Movie!😮😭🤣🤗💃🎶🎛🖥
despite that beautiful face timmy has a great voice though. also his acting ❤
I wouldn’t say he’s beautiful💀
Unexpectedly my favorite movie of 2023! Great reaction ❤
Fantastic review, and I completely agree! Such a special film 🥹
its just a pure feel good movie, 100% the kind of movie we need more of in todays world, i was quite worried about Timothée Chalamet, i personally really didnt think he was very good in Dune, but jesus christ he was damn near perfect in this kind of role
14:27 Everyone Else Including Me Wants To See Their Toes.
Watch Bones and All with Timothy Chalamant if you havent.... you'll really appreciate his acting range. Cannibalism to a Chocolateer. Dune he's a yawned for me but I love his other movies.
You should watch Paddington 1&2 by Paul King, one of the greatest films of all time.
So happy you guys liked this. I was scared to watch your reaction. Lol.
23:52 you guys should’ve planned ahead for reacting to this and got some Wonka chocolate to eat while reacting.
The intro I felt was an homage maybe to Johnny Depp... his Pirates entrance was the same.
putting the musical parts aside they were amazing. the film partstho...this is a disgrace! and the worst version of wonka in history and a disrepect to the name!
If I was an evil chocolate maker and my competition uses magic ingredient of course I would just mix up ingredients randomly so it would hav weird/bad effect even if I did not know the ingredient. That is what I think, not they specifically chose yeti sweat
When I was watching this movie I couldn't help but crave for some 🍫
so, luckly I did have some.😊
Beautiful movie. Amazing.
Can’t believe you didn’t get the 30 chocolate joke.
Did anyone get a « Chitty Chitty Bang Bang » kinda vibe from this movie? 🤔
11:26. I LIKE THE SOUND OF THUS MOVIE TOO
#7 HIGHEST GROSISNG FILM OF ALL 2023
pockalate, gold . maybe the chocolate is laced
24:57 You never have a chocolate like this
Gerald is the best..
I definitely had low expectations going into this movie, but it shocked me how much I enjoyed it. So much better than the Johnny Depp remake.
Mrs. Scrubbit 😈
