Nailed it. Could have been Animal, but the first thing that came to mind with whatever was 100% Gonzo. Neil may be a smart dude, but Snuffalufagus isn't even the right franchise.
In his defense, the puppets on Sesame Street are also called Muppets. There are far worse blind guesses he could have taken if he was familiar with Sesame Street but not the Muppets.
This was so obvious as a solid Muppets fan. I understand the other answers, but, REALLY. There is one weirdo who's always been above the rest. He's defined by it.
“Will you guys pipe down?! I’m trying to watch the movie! Sheesh!” I got this one instantly. I’ve seen TGMC so many times that I largely know most of the dialogue by memory, going back to when my parents taped it off Fox way back when.
No one in the Electric Mayhem was supposed to be weird. They were just your standard late 60s/70s rockers. Doctor (not John) Teeth, Floyd (totally not of Sgt Pepper), Janice (the lady with the tambourine) and Animal (every band's crazy drummer, such that even Spinal Tap made fun of them for literally, spontaneously combusting). Admittedly, Zoot is a little harder to make sense of. He seemed a Jazz Age throwback. But, I dunno. Maybe 70s rock bands still had blues men. I wasn't there.
@@johnanderson9765 The non-human puppet characters on Sesame Street have always been called Muppets. Sesame Street predates The Muppet Show by almost seven years, and the term was coined by Jim Henson in the 1950s, long before either show started. Although the term "Muppet" is now owned and trademarked by Disney, Sesame Workshop maintains a license to use the term for their characters which was granted to them by The Jim Henson Company before the Disney acquisition.
Do people know the difference between Sesame Street and The Muppets? Snuffleupagus was not on the Muppet Show. In fact, back in 1981, adults still thought he was imaginary. For the record, I knew the answer was Gonzo. He has often been described as a "whatever".
I am German. Whenever there is a celebrity edition of one of our quiz shows, I do not like them very much as the celebrities are always so much more talkative and extrovert compared to "regular" contestants. Having seen this short video, my impression is that it is exactly the same with American celebrities.
There's a clear separation/segregation of Muppets. Sesame Street is its own universe. Just because Kermit crosses those lines, that doesn't mean it's all the same, interchangeable universe. The only person who could see Snuffy was Big Bird, and he never thought of Snuffy as being remotely strange.
I honestly wish Jeopardy should completely GET RID of Celebrity Jeopardy. There's a Triple Jeopardy round (which really isn't necessary), the contestants are way too chaotic, and the clues generally seem very easy. I hope CJ! never comes back after this season.
CJ has its place. The questions are always stupid easy, which advantages people with buzzer skills over actual knowledge. Tyson would have crushed any Celebrity Jeopardy contestant on a real Jeopardy show. It's sweeps Jeopardy. Good for a change of pace. But the show should never aspire to be dumbed-down in general.
I understand, but I prefer it this way. It’s not taking the place of regular jeopardy, it has its own time slot. Also, it’s more laid back and fun. Plus, it’s for charity

Exactly. Only Kermit was a crossover. With the addition of Fozzy you had to go to the Muppet Show/Movie side.
Snuffalufagus is....a Snuffalufagus
Shocked Neil DeGrasse Tyson didn't watch Muppets in Space.
When I saw this comment I was like "Neil in NORMAL JEOPARDY?!"
But then, when they were writing the questions...I saw "Celebrity JEOPARDY!".
Ouchie.
@@piotrborowski775 Just imagine being some rando that got on Jeopardy and you see one of your opponents is a literal rocket scientist
A recurring Muppets sketch was "Pigs in Space."
He could never get through it without pausing to point out errors
He acts like he’s such a smart guy, and he doesn’t even know The Muppets.
Good thing I knew enough about the Muppets to know the correct response to this clue. I think Dave Goelz will be very happy watching this.
Hell yeah it's my time to shine

I love Melissa Peterman. I was in an acting class with her in college. So proud she made it.
I also guessed the drummer.

THIS JUST IN: IDENTICAL TWINS JOIN CHRONICLE STAFF.
Bears wear hats.
I wanted Neil deGrasse Tyson to win this game, but congrats to Jackie Tohn on becoming a semifinalist!
Without a doubt I knew it was Gonzo, I love the Muppets
I honestly thought Neil was winning this game 😅
My guess was either Gonzo or Animal I just wasn’t sure
Animal not a whatever. Animal DURMMER!!!
@ you’re not thinking along the lines of the clue
Animal was never defined as being weird. He was defined by being WILD!
The answer was Gonzo I have seen Great Muppet Caper
My GASP when I saw the thumbnail. Also of course I figured it out instantly lmao
I guessed Gonzo (but briefly Beaker at first!). Snuffy is a wooly mammoth!
And not a muppet. The only character to regularly appear on both Sesame Street and The Muppet Show was Kermit the Frog.

I got this one from watch Muppets Christmas Carol on a regular basis.
I remembered watching this game show on television. I also remember this movie and it's on Disney plus.
I got that right!
I thought Animal, then remembered Gonzo.
I stuck with Animal. Bummer.
Gonzo
That movie was my chilldhood.
Who is Gonzo?
Glad to see they all remember that Muppets are a Who and not a What.
Close game.
I've never seen the movie, but I knew right away who it had to be. And I was right!
I was surprised only Jackie and I knew this one, my brother didn't.
So there I was, doing a little photographic essay on kneecaps...
This was my favorite movie when I was 6 or so. I also guessed animal 🤦
I've recently watch this movie for the dozenth time.
Snufolopogus is not a Muppet
I knew this one, but my reply would have to have been "Who (or what) is Gonzo?"
I got it right!
I guessed Goofy. 😢

Sometimes even more. However it can also get very entertaining.
Gonzo is a turkey!
He's a little like a turkey, but not much
An ALIEN turkey!! 🤣
@@47Jaspers oh yes, I remember that line now!
😮Yayyy,,,,, i won the Idiot Bowl!!!!
I thought Ms. Piggy
This was a total gimme
Well, actually Neil, Snuffleupagus is Big Bird's imaginary friend, not Kermit's. You Pluto killer.

The correct wager that Melissa Peterman was supposed to do is $11,301 to cover Neil deGrasse Tyson if he risked everything.
She knew NdGT has no Muppet game. Dude answered Snuffy
The correct wager was technically $0, but there’s no way to know that before the responses are revealed. Either way she unfortunately didn’t win.
TOO EASY!!
"Hey, could you guys keep it down? I'm trying to watch the movie!"
Let's not forget that the film came out 44 years ago. When was the last time any of these people watched a Muppet film?
Piece of cake
I got that one easily.
Surely it has to be Miss Piggy?
I guessed her too!
If it was her, the crate would have said "pig."
@@johnanderson9765 The crate would have said "Diva".
I thought final jeopardy was supposed to be a tough question. This was perhaps one of the easiest ever.
It’s Celebrity Jeopardy. The questions tend to be easier, aimed more at being entertaining rather than difficult.

Stop _hamming it up_ so much, Prof. Tyson. You're an _astrophysicist_ for crying out loud! 🤦🏻
What happened to Jeopardy
These "celebrities" really suck!
