1000% agree, Ray Stevenson (RIP) looks like absolute perfection in this role. I'm also getting a father/daughter "vibe" from Baylan and Shin. If not actual then metaphorical. It's just the body language and subtext in the way Shin keeps looking at Baylan whenever they stand next to each other and she's always asking for guidance. And the way Baylan explains things simply and calmly is like an old patient dad. It's not something you would expect from the bad guys. And I much like the snarky dialogue between Shin and Morgan, showing that there's a much different relationship going on there. The antagonists in this series have a lot of strong characterization. I don't care what other Star Wars fans may say, I'm enjoying this show.

I agree. I've seen people calling this Female Wars and woke but I'm not picking up on any of that. And that's coming from a fan who has been disenfranchised with Star Wars because it has become woke with no good characters and relevant storytelling. But ALL of the female characters in this have experience and are amazing characters in their own right. Including Shin who we've just been introduced to.
There are things that aren't perfect like the getting stabbed by a lightsaber and pulling through like you stubbed your toe is annoying but THIS is Star Wars. I don't care what anyone says this show isn't just great for recent Star Wars it's just great Star Wars period.

If you follow Huyang's line, the lineage goes Ahsoka, to Anakin(chosen one), to Obi-Wan (possibly had a low m count), to Qui-Gon (rebellious by the council's standards), to Dooku(at odds with the Council such as Windu), to Yoda.....who was a powerhouse in a species with routinely high m counts.

So here's a fun canon Easter egg: The senator giving Hera a hard time in that meeting was Hamato Xiono, who happens to be the father of Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono, the main character of the Star Wars: Resistance animated series, though as of the time of this episode I don't think Kaz has even been born yet.
And you're right, he's definitely one of the people who persistently downplayed the threat of the First Order and characterized the Resistance as dangerous extremists. He didn't even change his tune after they destroyed the Hosnian system

I’m an absolute sucker for awesome training scenes, and this might become one of my favorites! Not only does it feel like so many classic samurai films, it also proves that Ahsoka isn’t training Sabine to be a Jedi, but a better version of herself. Still how awesome would it be if Sabine became the first Mandalorian Jedi in nearly a thousand years?
As for the Senate committee, as much as I hate the old trope of “there isn’t enough evidence to support your crazy theory”, how many times throughout modern history has this happened, where a majority of government officials either don’t believe or don’t WANT to believe a long believed dead or weakened enemy has come back? Still seeing Jacen talking with Mama Hera about AUNT Sabine made my heart melt!
Also, Ahsoka going out into space to fight starfighters with just her lightsabers is exactly the crazy ass thing Anakin would do with Ahsoka if you’ve seen Clone Wars!

That intro gave me very strong new hope vibes. Sabine even said a version of Luke’s line about needing to see to fight. I like that Ahsoka is changing the approach she takes with Sabine. She clearly learned from Grogu and the other Mandos she knows. I’m glad she’s not trying to cram her into a box like she did with Grogu. I found it interesting that Sabine’s the one who wants to be a jedi. But Ahsoka’s line I don’t need her to be a jedi. I need her to be herself stuck with me. She just needs her to be a competent warrior and the best version of herself she can be whether she can wield the force or not. I think the most authentic version of herself will involve her using a hybrid of both Mandalorion and jedi skills. I’m becoming more OK with the idea of her being able to wield the force on some level, I just don’t want her to be too OP with it. The space battle battle sequence was also such a good mix of Rebels and Clone Wars banter and all. I love that Filoni answered a lot of the questions we had while also raising several more. Hu Yang’s rapidly becoming one of my favorite droids. He’s so sassy. Next episode is gonna be crazy! I was so glad tto get a glimpse of Jacen. I was hoping we would. I hope he’s force sensitive and that Ezra trains him.

@NikkiStevenReact So I agree it would be weird for Ahsoka not to inform Luke of what’s going on…However I honestly would HATE if they yet again brought Luke into the story. I think that they need to start moving away from Luke’s story and creating their own new original stories going on elsewhere in the timeline or in the galaxy.
I honestly would love if they ended up creating a Star Wars series or trilogy of movies telling a completely new story with all new characters and planets. Either wayyyy in the past or future.
I think that would end up being a lot more successful for them because Star Wars fans are highly critical especially when it has anything to do with the original trilogy even if it is by association.

Totally agree. I can’t wait for the day we get a Star Wars trilogy set thousands of years away from this timeline. That said, as long as they are in this timeline, things do need to make sense and like Heir to the Empire novel, Luke was an important part of that story along with Leia and Han. They need to be involved with the New Republic waif there’s a new threat in the galaxy.

11:57 The Midiclorians is what she means with "Talent" I think. One with a high Midiclorian count (like Anakin) doesn't need to train as much to be powerful in the force compared to someone who has a lower midiclorian count. Considering Sabine has a very low Midiclorian count she would need to train a lot to get on the level of a normal jedi knight or maybe even just padawan. Have you seen the Yoda Dagoba force arc in clone wars? I think they also talked about midiclorians in that one too.

    • @madelinegarber7860
      @madelinegarber7860 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yeah I think you’re right. Or even just force sensitivity in general. Sabine will probably be limited in how far she can progress with her low M count. It doesn’t mean she can’t, it’ll just take a lot more effort. And she’ll probably never be on the same level of someone like Ahsoka herself. But I like that they addressed this question.

Sam Witwer is in the credits. He could be just voicing random characters in the series but I hope his casting has huge ramifications. If it's Starkiller, Dave Filoni is going to have to make that character lose his memory or something because he would be too overpowered in this era of Star Wars.

After watching Sabine's training session...I feel like Shin wasn't actually TRYING to kill her in that first light saber battle.
I like that training doesn't necessarily "connect" you to the force. Each person needs to find that for themselves. Kind of like learning to ride a bike...you can teach you the mechanics of the bike...but you have to learn the balance for yourself. I like how Ahsoka told her to "start small" in order to try to get to that connection.
The planet's "red" trees are reminiscint of the Night Sister's home world which was also really, REALLY Red.
Don't forget they actually showed how Canon survived Order 66 in the first episode of Bad Batch too.

Shortest episode so far but still a marginal improvement from the previous two thanks to the faster pacing and less dead silence. Enjoyed the early scene when Ahsoka trained Sabine. Her being the worst Jedi candidate according to Huyang is correcting the Mary Sue label from Rey. Better to watch Sabine struggle early on only for her get better as time goes on.
The music from Kevin Kiner of Rebels fame is starting to grow on me since I like old Japanese traditional music. Very relaxing. Sabine training felt like a Karate Kid/Cobra Kai scene. More Miyagi-Do from Daniel LaRusso than Johnny Lawrence's style of training. Ahsoka is paying homage to Kurosawa and the many Japanese influences they had on Star Wars.
I'm starting to think current Ahsoka is a cross between Mr. Miyagi and Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back. Mr. Miyagi hardly ever raised his voice. She did start showing more emotion in the space battle. More concern. The most Rosario Dawson moment in it hearing more of Rosario's real voice and tone. Great to see Jacen Syndulla and Mon Mothma in this.
Mon was in her mid-40s in Andor (5 BBY) which is also when Rebels S1 starts. She's about 59-60 now in Ahsoka's time (11 ABY). It seems from Hera's words that Thrawn is going to be a huge threat. Bigger threat than what Moff Gideon brought. Coolest scene was Ahsoka in that space jumpsuit. It didn't look ridiculous. They pull it off nicely. It could've looked stupid like Moonraker or Leia's Mary Poppins scene in The Last Jedi.
I thought seeing those star whales was a visual treat. Reminds me of The Phantom Menace's underwater scenery but the scene looks prettier. When Ahsoka's ship landed in those red-leaved trees, it looked like the start of Star Trek Into Darkness. So Marrok is pronounced Ma-rock? Like saying Morocco without the co. I thought it was Merrick or Meh-rock like I thought it was pronounced Sa-bine but it's Sa-bean.
I streamed Dial of Destiny twice yesterday. I still think it's the worst Indy film but I'll download it once the Blu-ray rip is out because I prefer mp4 over mkv and I'm a completist with all my favorite movie franchises. I watched Last Crusade after DoD. Made me realize life is too short. Sallah is in his mid-40s in Crusade. Then 34 years passed and he's a grandfather.
I can tell a Shin vs. Morgan duel is brewing. Shin says sarcastically, "Morgan, congratulations. You almost got them." There's going to be a fight between these two. Overall, I thought Ep 3 is a little better. Not leaps better but it's progressing enough nicely. The special effects in this are spectacular. It looks better than the OT SEs, Prequels, Sequels, and way better than The Flash.
Ep 3 was short and that's probably the biggest complaint and not much of Baylan in this but you can't please them all. If it's too long, it's boring. If Ahsoka talks too much, she's annoying. If she doesn't say much, she's boring. Everyone will whine about everything. I'm starting to dig Hera more and more. I liked her in Rebels from the 10 episodes I saw from it. We forget Mary and Rosario already worked together in Death Proof (2007).
I've looped the first two episodes of Ahsoka like 2-3x last night after seeing them twice and this series is slowly growing on me. I'll loop Ep 3 a few more times. I'm thinking because I have nothing else to watch that I'm getting more invested into these characters. It's still not as good as The Mandalorian S1/S2 and Andor yet but I can see Ahsoka being at least better than Obi-Wan and is already better than The Book of Boba Fett.
At least Ahsoka stays focused on the titular character and the supporting ones in Rebels a majority of the time which Obi-Wan failed to do last year half the time.
    My Weekly Ashoka Character Favorites
    1. Ahsoka Tano
    2. Shin Hati
    3. Baylan Skoll
    4. Hera Syndulla
    5. Sabine Wren
    6. Morgan Elsbeth
    7. Huyang
    8. Chopper
    9. Marrok
    10. Mon Mothma
    My Favorite Disney+ Star Wars
    1. The Mandalorian
    2. Andor
    3. Ahsoka (moves up one spot)
    4. Obi-Wan Kenobi
    5. The Book of Boba Fett
    Mando S2 > Mando S1 > Andor S1 > Mando S3 > Ahsoka > Obi-Wan > TBoBF
It's hard for me to compare The Mandalorian vs. Andor. I believe Andor is written better but it's a very slow burn and perhaps the characters are not as charismatic as the ones from Mando.
Andor only has 12 episodes while Mando has 24 and had 16 after S2. Andor has the advantage of having less bad episodes. It's not guaranteed Andor S2 (final season) will be good or not or end up disappointing like Mando S3. I remember enjoying Agent Carter S1 but hating S2.

There is actually a video on TH-cam it’s a voiced comic video type format. And it shows the introduction of Thrawn to the empire and they did such a good job not sure if any of y’all have read the comics, books, or seen that video but definitely recommend. A good Thrawn comic movie

I think the episodes that we have seen so far of Ahsoka take place in between her two appearances in the Mandalorian and BOBFF.
Here she is sad about something that's happened before but seems to be working her way through it already.
When we see her in BOBF she seems happier and in a better place.
She may not have met Luke yet at this point in the show but since she's hanging out in Home One and the rebel fleet perhaps she will run into him. It might even be something held over for next season.

every shot of Shin in this episode, from the front, with that makeup and that hair, makes me think of an even evil-er Finale from Ready Player One.
like, pretty much the only difference between Hannah John-Kamen and Ivana Sakhno here, is the white hair.
.....and about 5 cm height... but mostly that hair.

Great reaction guys, like always this show is getting better and better Filoni did a great job, watching the callbacks and references are so good, and the music score is on point, i have a theory about who Marrok could be the best one is that he is a Darth Vader's secret apprentice - a canon version of Starkiller. Other people say that he could be Ezra himself. Lets wait to see, Keep up the amazing work.

Sabine's issue is she's too eager, like Ahsoka once was, she's not giving herself the time to just breathe deeply, to meditate and feel the world around her, feel each breath as it comes and goes, developing her connection to the Force, she wants to please Ahsoka by getting results quickly rather than taking the time to actually feel the Force and learn to wield it, even Dark Side users have to spend time meditating except for Sith who hone in on their emotions, dark/fallen jedi like Baylon and Shin probably use a blend of Jedi and Sith teachings, they still let themselves feel the Force but try to bend it to their will without giving in to the Dark Side's corrupting influence which the Sith welcome and allow to happen

I've said before, but wow, we really haven't seen shit as far as the trailers have shown. Most of the footage in the trailers has already happened as of Episode 3, except the quick scene of Thrawn and the fight with Baylon. I'm pretty sure the forest fight will happen next episode, which means we have about 4 1/2 or so episodes of footage that we haven't seen any of.
So far so good, the series so far is very linear and so far avoiding filler. They're not wasting anytime, and doing a good job of building up mystery and intrigue and we still haven't even seen Thrawn yet. Plus if certain cameo rumors are true, we may be in for a real treat.
My biggest mystery so far is who is Marrok? The "As you wish" was a major Vader Nod. I'm betting he's either StarKiller OR,.....and I know this is crazy..but a possible clone of Anakin Skywalker, who wasn't quite as powerful as the original. Something Paplpatine hid from Vader and was going to be used to replace Vader, until The Emperor became aware of Luke.
I know that sounds wonky, but Palpatine was clearly interested in cloning, AND HE, not Vader created the entire concept of the Inquisitors, so ultimately that entire project was his. It would be quite the shock to see this IMO, but fans such as I would LOVE it. That being said,...my next choice is Ezra, though I agree that it wouldn't really make any sense.
If not any of them, just some cool random dude.
