SUPERBE ET BELLE ARTICULATION DU FRANCAIS ET LA C EST LE PRINCIPAL LA DICTION POUR LA DANSE MACABRE ET C EST PAS FACILE 8 SUR 10 ha ha pour rire .....BRAVO !
lasaboteuse Thanks Lasaboteuse!!! If you happen to find yourself in Liverpool in March, I'm singing my first Méphistophélès in La damnation de Faust (Berlioz) with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic :)
Well, that's an acceptable Mephisto too, I guess. ;) When is it? That'd be the second operatic thing going on in March on the other side of the Atlantic that I'd love to see (the other is the world premiere of Luca Francesconi's "Trompe-la-mort").
lasaboteuse The fact that this is an art song has no effect on and is no justification for the truth that a trilled “r” in French is simply wrong. Danse Macabre was written by a French man, in French, about a French superstition. It should be in the best interests of the performer to respect the origins of the material and learn to pronounce the words correctly. The ignorance of the uvular fricative isn’t an artistic choice, it’s flat out disrespectful to the composer and the language, especially when imposing the linguistics of another Romance language.
You...can't...sing classically with a uvular fricative. Have you never heard opera performed in French? Please go learn a thing before attacking Mr. Lau for no reason.
@@francish6695 And what point would that be? That it's disrespectful to sing French lyrics according to universally accepted standards of lyric diction? There is absolutely nothing wrong with using an apical R for this piece. Do a google search, I'm begging you.
