Slash has an amazing sense of melody. This solo is so beautiful. I can never write something this soothing.

Getting all the notes right: easy
Making it sound good: extremely hard

Yeah having the same problem. My version sounds like the down syndrome version.
That tone is unreal.
I was listening this awesome solo, closed my eyes then suddently ''Eeeeeeeeigh whats up!!!'' XDD
Hahah same xD
Hilarious 😂😂😂
Bro idk why but this made me laugh really hard😂
Marty, you are one of the reasons I've decided to buy another guitar and try and get back into it, been working on this solo, fingers are blistered but it will be worth it.
Cheers Fella and keep posting the tutorials :-)
So simple and beautiful melody, makes me wanna cry!! Thanks for the track at last, Marty!!
Great work!!
Several months ago I checked out a few musicians who were teaching guitar lessons. And I found that you were instructions Ward the most easiest to understand. I've been following you ever since thanks I've come a long way. Keep up the good work.
I watched a different "how to" of this solo before yours and it was so hard to follow. You made this so clear from the beginning by pointing out the pentatonic. Thank you. Subscribed. 👍
amp settings:

bridge pickup on les paul
This intro makes me come back to this video so often it's insane. And the settings seem so perfect. Best thing I've heard, thank you Marty!
andreas karlsson Aa, det är så fint spelat!
You are amazing Marty. Thank you from all of us who are trying to learn guitar for the first time.
12 years later and this guitar lesson is still valid, learned my first solo thanks to this video. Love this solo and been my plan to learn now next step is to learn the 2nd one
Love the color of that les Paul!!! Sweet!!
Some people said to me you don't learn much when you just learn from how to's. From my experience that's wrong. You learn pretty cool riffs, lics, style things and you learn to combine them and realize the relationships between these things.
Thanks Marty for making your videos! I haven't watched any in months, but when trying to teach myself, I found your videos extremely helpful and you were my guitar teacher! Im sure you've helped thousands learn to do something they love.
in the begin of this year i started practising the whole solo thing. now i can finally play this song with jamming from my band! thank you so much marty. my english is not the best but most of the things i do understeand what you are teaching.
This is such a good tutorial, i've been playing for 7 years but have never really gotten into solo's, but now... oh my, i did this perfectly in 15 minutes! All thanks to you Marty! :)
How can I knock on heaven's door when there's a Stairway to Heaven?
😂😂😂😂
There's a chance you could take the Highway to Hell instead
maybe the stairway leads to a door
Stefan Vorster but would the door be locked?
Awesome!!
seriously Marty you have a talent for showing people like me how build up the confidence learning these songs. by the time i get to the end learning the moves am on the ceiling, yeh what i learn needs some polish but its well impressive . Awesome talent for taking a song an presenting it in easy to understand chunks.
Marty you make everything so easy and understandable compared to any other youtube guitarist. I also love this solo and thanks to you now i can play it.
Best teacher ever man! Thank you so much marty!
OBEYCorruptFoxx thanks so much for commenting and supporting!!
GuitarJamz I know that the guitar that you are using is not a Fender stratocaster but, what is a good amp choice for a stratocaster? I'm getting my first ever electric guitar soon and I want to know what is a good choice.
Adolfo Antompietri Fender makes good amps too, if you're getting your first electric guitar try the Mustang 1 or 2 I think they sound great for the price
Damn Marty you can really make this alot easier than one would of thought. I can't thank you enough keep it up Marty we love what you do :) :)
Gun's and Roses are one of my favourite bands, it has a special place in my heart , as it brings the nostalgia of my youth , the freedom and happiness from those times in the 90's. (How diferent the world is these days !? ) .
I was looking for a tutorial to learn this song and from all i have watched and practice your is without any doubt the best one . Now i get why you have more tham 4 million subscribers , because you really deserve . The way you explain and teach is so clean , relaxed and clear . Most tutorials i watched are more fast , the chords or notes are never visible due their hand position in the fretboard and in the pickups. Your teaching is just so smooth . I have practiced andi now i can play this solo easily as i easily have memorised the notes , i just need now more practice to match the tempo and of course the guitar tone on the pedalboard.
I am so happy i have found your tutorial and more happy because now i can jump to the next tutorial , but first , i'm subscribing your channel .
Thank you for your channel and for being an amazing guitar player and guitar teacher/tutor
Man you were my favorite guitar teacher ever man so thankful for your vids. I learned for a year from you took lessons and now I have 3 guitars 4 amps and I know so much about guitar! Thank you so much Marty!
Hello. Id like to know what amp you used for the recording of this lesson. Great playing keep it up!
I don't think anyone can play guitar like Slash other than Marty!
Thanks for this lesson, Marty! Watching this video everybody should be able to learn it. Love your way of showing and explaining. The solo makes this song unique. Thumbs up!
I've only been playing for around 5 months and recently learned major and minor scales from previous lessons. I just played this solo start to finish right along with you after a few views of this lesson. You are by far the best teacher I've seen online and I thank you for all that you do. Anyone who can teach me a slash solo after 5 months is an amazing teacher. Thank you
Yes, this is great noob tutorial. I'm a very happy guitar noob now.
And 7 years later, I second that statement🤝🏾
@@henrydauseb2844 yeah but I don’t have 22 frets for the 2nd solo :(
@@austinhawkins1443 snap bro, maybe improvise those parts. Come up with your own little licks to cover those sections.

Marty, you're the man! Just went to a GN'R concert. Super exited about this lesson!
You are the Greatest! I never played a solo on electic guitar.. and now im nailing this one!
Can anybody tell me if this is standar tunning or a different tune???
angel 21224 its half a step down, all GnR songs are like that
Thank you very much :)
angel 21224 You dont need an alternative tuning you can just pick the same tabs in half a step down
Thanks dude
i wish my guitar would sound like that :(
Buy a Zoom G5n ;)

Keep it up Marty , You 're a great teacher …. THANK YOU for IMPARTING YOUR KNOWLEDGE IN THIS REGARD.
Awesome teacher! Need more people like you who can break songs down.
Awesome work! Love your videos!
I wonder what beginning guitarists did without Marty in the past? He is AMAZING as a teacher. Look at me, max. 8 weeks of guitar playing under my belt and I'm playing Slash 's solo on Knocking On Heavens Door. Insane teaching skills!!! Thanks Mr. Schwartz, hats of to you!

Nice one Marty. I am 4 discs into your blues package and it is all making sense now. I got this one down fairly easily thanks to you. (and that practice you keep talking about).

Hello Marty, I got it now, thank you, I have to learn this solo to a guitar student this afternoon. He is a Slash fan. Well explained. You are a very good guitar teacher.
Thanks for the awesome lesson! Always wanted to play it, now I can! Subscribed.
The loop part was an awesome idea. thanks a lot really enjoyed it.
You are the coolest guy on youtube, Marty. Please keep on going with your sympathic way of explaining cool guitar stuff. You know how to motivate someone practicing. And that is more than 10000000 other teachers have.
Great lesson. Thank you so much. Great song and you really break it down and make it easy to learn
Such a lovely tone
Thanks Marty for the help! Learned the full solo within 15 mins! Keep up the good work!
You marty are amazing! Bought my first electric last week and can already play this solo :) thanks heaps!
Your tutos are very good! Thanks for your lessons, I learn from france :D
Vale la pena lo que Marty hace por los que estamos aprendiendo,,,, es un gran guía ,,,, Hombre gracias por mostrarnos que si se puede GRACIAS. Excellent
Truly you are a charismatic teacher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love all of your videos, I've learned loads from them. This is a great song for getting some bending practice in. Could you maybe do a video to show what the best way (or the technique you use) to avoid accidentally catching the other strings when bending? This is something i really struggle with even with ridiculously short nails on my left hand.
Thank you Marty.
You are the best guitar teacher in the world.
love this solo, awesome lesson dude! and I love that guitar! cheers!
