    grade 5 % should be in decimal; G = 0.05 in calculations.

    Doesn't that Table only apply to Level roadways? To me that means a flat road, i.e. 0% grade. Am I wrong in that assumption?

      i also see the aashto GDHS 2011 table 3-2 for SSD on grade pg3-6 reads~ SD on the highway is different in each direction, particularly on a grade. as a rule SD on downgrade is larger than SD on upgrade ~ the answer would be closer to 390-391ft

    where does the 30 come from in the equation?

      30 is simply part the equation. Check out the CERM 79.43(b) in the latest edition. This video used and older book and the chapters shifted one.
