MindBender books have been a really fun addition to our typical arithmetic work. The logic problems are more like games than work for G7! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Thank you for these videos! I love that you make one video for each subject- it makes it easier to follow and shortens the video time which is always a plus. I'd love if you could give a quick reference as to where you buy each item as you talk about it. Thanks again!!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! I will try to remember to mention where I got things in the upcoming curriculum videos - thanks for the reminder! I bought most of the supplies from Bookshark (Singapore Math), Zulily (Arithmasticks and Kumon), and Amazon (Intelligence sticks and Mindbenders). I bought a set of the Games books for various subjects from eBay.
Thank you so much for sharing ! We love our Kumon books too :) The arithmasticks you have shown in this video seems interesting , can't wait to try with my little one . Happy learning !.
+Marriage & Motherhood, we have it, but we use it only 1-2x a week. My son doesn't like the repetitive worksheets, but he loves the video and the blocks. I can do a review video if it helps.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Eeek! I'm having a total fan moment - I love, love, love your channel! Thank you so much for SO MANY great ideas!
If you can find a game called Logic Street (discontinued but still a lot of them floating around) it is the same concept as the Thinking Skills book you use! We love it!
My kids go to regular school, however, early on I realized the deficiencies of the traditional educational models so, after regular school class, I homeschool my children. I got my kids started my kids in math using this same book. It is wonderful as it provides a strong foundation before getting into more advanced use of bigger numbers. I realized that the traditional methods keep moving with materials leaving gaps in knowledge. Particularly, most kids start adding and subtracting tens (two value numbers) without being able to mentally calculate numbers up to 20. Children need to master mentally (and one must know what I mean by saying "MASTER MENTALLY") calculations using the base 20 numbers before moving to larger amounts and more complex operations such as multiplication and division. This book series is excellent at getting the kids started in mastering the fundamental blocks to mentally calculate, first 20 numbers and the four operations.
Love the divided tray and marble idea! Also if you like mazes, we used the Kumon one you have and when we found it too easy we got an Usborne one - much more challenging but still not too hard! They have quite a few to choose from. The Space one is great for boys!
I actually don’t schedule them into a schedule in the traditional fashion. If you explore my recent planning videos, you can learn about my approach to juggling multiple curricula and resources without tying it to the calendar. Thanks for watching!
This was so timely!! I'm currently working on lesson planning for my kindergartener. This was extremely helpful and I'll be trying out s few of these suggestions!
Yes, we did. 🤓 We focus a lot on reading and math in the early years. I wouldn’t say either is better - I love lots of things about Singapore, and we still supplement with Singapore Math Challenge. I like the combination of styles in MM, and the fact that it provides more practice alongside the mental math.
I love your interactive notebook! What a great idea! How much did they charge you to bind it? Oh, we have the little "Intelligence Sticks"! We've used it in many different ways! :)
+WESPROUT West End Sprout, it only cost about $3-4 at Staples. The sticks are great, aren't they? I loved your homeschool room video, btw! So many great ideas.
Tanya thanks for sharing this! I am putting the number line and Kumon coins into my cart right now! Ha! Or not... I can't find it available anywhere - maybe I'll figure out how to make one :)
The manipulatives are super fun. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find an online link to the Arithmasticks. But I bought them from zulily.com, if you're interested.
i am going to be using singapore with my daughter soon...I'm up in the air with 3 different singapore workbooks....I can't decide yet. great books!
I think they are all pretty good, from what I hear - good luck choosing!! Thanks for watching, my friend!
Love Singapore math! My 1st grader has really enjoyed it. I love the idea of the mind bender books - they look fun!

Have you reviewed or tried Math U See? Just wanting to know your thoughts on it.

Oh the number line box is fabulous!! I'm in love with it. Thanks for showing that one, must have it now.

Aw, thank you! That is very sweet of you to say!

Thanks! We're big fans of logic books around here - I'll check eBay. 🙂

I agree! Learning the fundamentals is key to building math fluency later on.
which book in particular are you talking about?
Love the divided tray and marble idea!

Thanks for the tip! I'll look for that one when we finish this one. :)
Do you have a video on how you schedule all of these curriculum resources into your homeschool schedule?
I actually don’t schedule them into a schedule in the traditional fashion. If you explore my recent planning videos, you can learn about my approach to juggling multiple curricula and resources without tying it to the calendar. Thanks for watching!
Project Happy Home thank you for your videos. Where did you get the Mind Bender Warm up Deductive Thinking Skills book? I can not find it on Amazon.
where did you get the arithmasticks . Thank you for the videos.
On zulily. I haven’t seen them recently, but if I do, I’ll post it on Instagram.
Thank you
O WOW! I love that Arithmasticks! I need that.
I bought them from Zulily.com, and I see them pop up periodically. If I see them again, I'll let you know!
Is there a video by Tanya on language arts writing first grade curriculum?
Just check out my Language Arts playlist on my main page. 🙂 We really enjoy Hewitt Homeschooling’s Lightning Literature.
Hello. Would you still recommend Singapore Math for primary aged children please?
Yes! I think it’s a wonderful curriculum. My eldest wanted a change after 2nd grade and so we transitioned to Math Mammoth.
@@ProjectHappyHome thanks a lot!
Did you use the home instructor's guide for Singapore?
No, I just use the textbook and the workbook.
This was so timely!! I'm currently working on lesson planning for my kindergartener. This was extremely helpful and I'll be trying out s few of these suggestions!
+grace bartlett, thanks so much for watching! I'm glad it was helpful.
Hello, where can the Arithmasticks be found please?
If you search for them on Google, several international sellers sell them as Montessori manipulatives. :) Hope that helps!
@@ProjectHappyHome Thank you for getting back. I tried but I'll definatley keep an eye out.
Please tell me the price of this books
Can I get away without the textbook, or do I n need it?
You don’t need the textbook, but I think a lot of the value lies in the instructional method. If you have a natural at math, it may be less useful.
ya know you can also find cool Chinese things children stories - topics such as digestion, ultra, and good medicine. Said books are very common books.
Thanks for the tip!
Do you use all of these for 1st grade? I'm debating between math mammoth or singapore for my son. Which is better? He's in the 1st grade now.

where did you get the arithmasticks ?
+Chantelle F, I bought them from Zulily.
Tanya thanks for sharing this! I am putting the number line and Kumon coins into my cart right now! Ha! Or not... I can't find it available anywhere - maybe I'll figure out how to make one :)
+Crazy Busy Family Life, I got Arithmasticks from Zulily - if I find a link, I'll put it up. 🙂
Do you use this and math mammoth?
I used just this for my eldest in first grade, but now we use a combo of different math resources with Math Mammoth as the core.
My son is intrigued by your manipulatives. I guess I'll have to add some when we start homeschool next year!
The manipulatives are super fun. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find an online link to the Arithmasticks. But I bought them from zulily.com, if you're interested.
I've seen it in Aliexpress
My son also loves mazes. Check out the Usborne big maze book series. Very colorful. Very fun and challenging 😁
You are full of great suggestions! Keep them coming!!
