The best time to listen to this song is in a pitch black room looking up at the ceiling. At the end I get so scared and paranoid, it's a great feeling. Ya'll should try it.
You can capture that feeling more intensely while walking down backstreets at a very late hour. You almost feel like "I'm ok with being murdered right now."
So the Cirkus thing doesn't bug me because it only shows up once, but that piano melody is straight up Atomic Rooster's "Death Walks Behind You" and he's riding that for like 3 minutes
A modern prog masterpiece. SW and band are on fire! This song is so dark and truly gives me chills down my spine as story of Dennis Rader is horrifying to the core. Everything SW touches turns into gold. He's just got that touch of the Midas.
Lst night, when performed in Buenos Aires, this song gave me the creep, just MIND-BLOWING, SW is a genious...From Luminol, first song in the set, until Radioactive Toy as encore, all I can say is THANK YOU STEVE, You´re the finest alien on earth
Hello folks! If anyone feels exceptionally passionate about this part 14:35 to 16:40 or has any other odd feeling towards it, please reply here, and be as explicit as you want. I'm all eager to read your thoughts.
The first time I remember hearing that part, I was asleep and having terrifying dreams. I woke up in a cold sweat and it made me feel like I was being watched or chased waking up to this. It has such a scary, haunting feel to it that I haven't escaped yet.
i think i know exactly what you mean but words distort the real feeling i would say dreamy surreal like a soft smooth hand carressing you on the face and forehead pushing you under water at the same time . i think this is the "grace for drowning" letting ur self go confidently unto fear
haha killer album right, definitely one of the most underrated musicians right now. Dig the dsotm too, he's in my opinion one of the best songwriters since the greats like Floyd and the Beatles.
I thought exactly the same "DELIVERANCE" and King Crimson's Level five at 8:03 ... remember the first time i heard the song something happened inside my head i don't know what but it's still here ...
Same here in Boston a day or 2 later. 2nd row. Best show I have ever seen! I think Guthrie was guitar for that tour. I have seen sreven him 4 times over the years and this tour was the best. I think Marco was on drums. I felt lucky to see that show.

I know this is late, but I love your profile pic.
@@alperyuksel1726 especially if you're female..!
Desde Robert Fripp y sus King Crimson no habia salido nada mejor que este genio llamado Steven Wilson o sus Porcupine Tree, un genio
Vocal pattern at 1:40 is the same as King Crimson's 'Cirkus'. I love Wilson's little Prog-nerd throwbacks.
So the Cirkus thing doesn't bug me because it only shows up once, but that piano melody is straight up Atomic Rooster's "Death Walks Behind You" and he's riding that for like 3 minutes

kING cRIMSON AND pINK fLOYD ALWAYS (SOMETIMES TOO) NEARBY; gUESS HE ADORES THEM.
A plague inside your home, I'm raider
Defiling all you own, raider
A cat among the crows, I'm raider
The butcher and his prose, I'm raider
Look at the emptiness. Dark room, dirty thoughts, a kind of destruction, just feel it.
It seems this song is going to be my absolute favorite song forever... Fine by me :-)
Me too! :-)
TheNonArtist Same to you ;)

thrilling. unnerving. cinematic. chaotic beauty.
The flute solo(s) is (are) fucking incredible.
As is the whole song. Amazing.
just recently stumbled upon Steven Wilson; not since Tool since I've felt musically fulfilled...
Maynard remains another legend. If you adore tool, you'd love SW too.
I totaly agree with you. And also a band opeth. Tree of my New music horizont. Pearl Jam is from always my DNK. A great combination......
Still Steven Wilson's masterpiece

Best epic steven wilson song. 14:35 to the end, there is no word...EPIC
Best song ever by SW
!
It was composed by all the band.
@@arbraulin nope him..
This song is perfect when I’m reading a horror story
This song is probably the deepest and darkest of Steven's songwriting imagination.
This song makes me feel stoned.
Actually the joint before listening may have been partly responsible.
Amazing.
josefvickers so being stoned makes you feel stoned....
I feel you bro. When I'm stoned this song just makes me feel bouldered man.
Goosebumps! Every single time!
Can hear the influence of this song in The Holy Drinker
17:23 dat bass. It's what I dream of
Such a trippy song..
"Ooooooooooooh, I'm Rai-der!" I could listen to that verse all day.
2:48 scared the shit out of me.
HAAHAHA :)
Sounds so Opeth-ish

I truly wish that he would make an entire album based on this section and the first jazzy break around 4 minutes
I LOVE that instrumental. It gives me goosebumps every time.

Sounds like a Diablo 1 track.
This song is better than the hole new album.
This song was so unsettling live. It was awesome.
14:40 begins God.
oh yeah the flute!
I love it when people listen your original music then say it sounds like such and such.
Because it's like Steven Wilson says: Good artists borrow, great artists steal
I'm right there with you man. Just found this guy recently, this shit's like Floyd when you're high.
Such a trippy song it is..
Here from India. This song gives me the chills. Hope I could witness this live someday :)
The best track off this album
haha killer album right, definitely one of the most underrated musicians right now. Dig the dsotm too, he's in my opinion one of the best songwriters since the greats like Floyd and the Beatles.
I wait on TH-cam for two months to share to my friends this masterpiece, thank you ;)
y muchas gracias por esta reliquia lo guardare en ese mp3 mental que nadie nos puede quitar o llenar de virus .
Yes!!! King Crimson 40 years later (even better)!
8:46 Opeth is here
I thought exactly the same "DELIVERANCE" and King Crimson's Level five at 8:03 ... remember the first time i heard the song something happened inside my head i don't know what but it's still here ...
Well since Steven wilson has been one of their producer , It's quite normal to see some similarity
Indeed! when i first watched Lamentation DVD i understood lot of things....
this song reminds me to cygnus from the mars volta, insane !!!!!
love the drumming 9:28 - 11:07 !
Love the drumming 0:00 - 23:20 !!!
Pure magic!
epic...epic is the best word for describes this song&music
masterpiece forever
Maybe the best song of SW.
Agree!
Modern day Prog Rock masterpiece
I don't know why but the end always make me think of the dancing dwarf in Twin Peaks...
Yesssss
that scene visits my dreams often
Bravo maestro!
This song is so. fucking. good.
when i listen to this i feel like im not alone in room

Sheer musical mastery displayed here
I still love this epic track
Masterpiece
Maravilhoso ❤
saw this live
life = complete
Thanks for watching it.
From 4:42 it reminds me to "Funny Ways" from Gentle Giant, for whom Steven remixed their albums
That Clarinet solo at 9:30 though. Most insane part of this song
my forever remedy
breathless
epic, hauntig...
EH BOLUDO, TERRIBLEEE! la pasé fenómeno yo también! jajajaja, qué impresionante Radioactive Toy
Well, that was an experience
Apparently this piece is based on Dennis Rader, a serial killer who was nicknamed BTK (Bind, Torture, Kill).
I would like to see the face Mr. Fripp after first listening :-)
This is probably his favorite wilson tune. great for his usual serial killer stare lol
How refreshing to hear other scales (Dorian instead of mixolydian or phygian). I can hear the pitter patter on satyr feet dancing in an oaken forest
Yep, awesome and full of dread with video screen footage, Live in Sydney!
damn this is good
ok lo escuchare brother
Only Steven Wilson can write a 23 minute song that never gets boring.
Good for you. I thought it dragged on. The most recent live renditions are pretty cool though
Listen Octavarium...
Led Lemos Which track?
Octavarium, of course! 23min song too!
Try "Echoes" by Pink Floyd, too.
Maybe this song/album should have a subtitle of "A Tribue to King Crimson's Lizard".
music for your mind
Hey Guys, If you want to dig the subject of this song, google Dennis Raider
14:35 this is the end. now you are somewhere else.... somewhere deep

I saw it first in Albany as well. was an awesome show \m/
Same here in Boston a day or 2 later. 2nd row. Best show I have ever seen! I think Guthrie was guitar for that tour. I have seen sreven him 4 times over the years and this tour was the best. I think Marco was on drums. I felt lucky to see that show.
Is Jordan Rudess playing at this one?
Yes, he is.
It reminds a lot of "In The Wake of Poseideon"
can somebody explain me what the lyrics are abobut ? I don't really get the meaning of them
Yvan Cluet Google the BTK killer.
thanks
The song structure reminds me Pink Floyd's Echoes too.
You really need to listen to Bass Communion - Voice Musical Box...
That thig is really the darkest thing he have ever done.
Cirkus... but still love it.
This does remind me of KC but more in a 'natural successor' way
*Rader. It seems odd to me that Wilson would name a song after someone whose name he couldn't spell. Unless I've made a misunderstanding...
It's a play on his last name. Pretty sure he knew how it was spelled
11:18 I don't remember that noise that isn't the guitar or the choir. Is that the saxophone?
No sax, just a guitar and the choir
3 soul-less people disliked this grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Cono sería jugar amnesia y escuchar esta canción me imaginé una fabrica con cerdos asesinos
2:51 made me jump a bit... Maybe I should turn the volume down
I don't get it.
Marco Minnemann on drums?
Nope. Nic France (based on the album's booklet)
Is that Åkerfeldt growling?
I wish
Now 13 lol
Ох...У есть
por estos comentarios me fui a buscar a king krimson y la verdad es que no yo diria que esto es algo entre jethro tull y no se quien ...
@s3ctarian Save the famined Ugandans. Word.
If you put metal distortion guitars over the heavy parts, it would sound very death metal ish.
Is this guy even a human??
