It it’s not your vision. It is the vision of the AI based on solely simple word prompts. Saying “a dark forest on an outer planet with elf like aliens”, for example, is not a vision. It is, at best, an instruction. This is why this new AI phenomenon has ended the perception of art forever. Especially young people will believe all art was created by AI no matter what the “artist” claims. This is like a world war with no deaths or physical attacks.

Thank you for subscribing! My understanding seems to be that it’s yours to use if it’s a paid plan. There is a page on midjourney.com that explains it, that’s how I interpreted it.
Wade I see in your video that you can import a picture and enhance it with Midjourney. I am playing with an idea using AI to do artistic enhancements to photos but I got the impression that Midjourney is somewhat limited in this regard. If that is the case can you suggest another software that would be better suited? I get a lot from your videos they are very concise to the point. A real joy to watch and learn. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the uplifting feedback! I agree, Midjourney probably isnt the best, but you could test their /blend feature.
Otherwise Photoshop is great if you have time to learn it. Hotpot.ai has some cool ai features. Or Dall E / leonardo.ai have great inpainting and outpainting features for use with photos. Id consider exploring those!

Great video! Could you please tell me what's the prompt for drawing style in 4:50?
That was "ink dripping drawing" - but specially on version3 (--v 3) version 4 handles that phrase differently. I hope that helps :)

I saw an ad that said people are using Midjourney to make logos. Are they copyright free even though we did not create them? I know you mentioned giving credit but I saw nothing about that in the ad so I'm wondering if that's the higher priced thing you mentioned.

Technically you can use the art you produce commercially - as long as its a paid plan. Isee what you mean about the 2 accounts tho, Midjourney is a great image generator though, ive personally found it to be worth it

Thanks for watching! I can't work with you directly due to schedule limitations, however, I'd recommend checking out this video on the process I use: th-cam.com/video/mgjgNmBdGCI/w-d-xo.html
Essentially, break your prompt into:
1. subject/what you want to see
2. colors, layout or any elements you want to see
3. the art style (3d render, drawing, artist name, etc)
Then try to use the reroll feature, or adjust your prompt as you go. You can adjust one of the 3 above things each time.

@@WadeMcMaster thanks so much. My question was regarding when I get a style that I like, how to use it to generate other prompts in the same look. I saw videos suggesting using the same seed and that if you click the mail icon the ai is supposed to send you the seed it uses but somehow I dont get that icon below the U1-4 V1-4 screen. Maybe the option would be to type in a seed each time and if I like what it generates, to then use it for the next prompt.
@@gorkemgulan That's a good idea for sure. It can be hard to keep it very dialed in, but definitely keeping a string of stlye words can help. As for the seed I'd definitely try that for sure. Otherwise I do find it difficult personally to really dial in exactly - without being too exact while remixing.
I like these things cuz it show me the names of the details I need to know to edit video so it’s fun to learn

Oh man i wish i did, because that sounds cool! Dall E has inpainting which may be the closest thing if you upload certain things. Stable diffusion may have a version or add on like that.

I am a musician, releasing albums with my bands and solo for +20 years. I create my own covers, websites etc. I am interested in stylizing pics of me / my band. Whatever I did, nothing worked. iw5 was my hope, but... no. Copying prompts from other did not remedy this. Maybe I was just unlucky. Or there is much more to it? I just noted that nearly no one (!) in his AI art tutorials shows how to get decent results from portrait photos of normal people. Also it puzzles me because if the basis is some actress, it seems to be no problem for midjourney to create a cool version of Angelina Jolie as Hulk. Or whatever. So, thanks for your vid. And I hope sometime you might deep dive into this, too. Cheers from Germany!
Ill definitely look into it. I know the new --test algorithm.does a decent job with faces, maybe when it becomes the main version you can use --iw (image weight) to improve the results. Have you tried using the image url, --iw of 3 to 5 and then remastering the result?.it may nit be great but worth a shot!
@@WadeMcMaster Thanks! I am still on the basic plan so I exceeded my usage. So, no remaster. I wanted to understand what I need to do differently first. :-) No hurry here. One promt was (I edited the pic link, not sure this is allowed here) " man holding a Gibson Les Paul guitar, portrait, art nouveau, elegant, highly detailed, sharp focus, art by artgerm and greg rutkowski --iw 4". My only beef with the result is that it has nothing to do with me. But I will get there eventually, ha ha. Which is part of the fun. Thank you for your time!

With the $10/month plan does one prompt count as 4 photos out of the 200 you get a month?? So if I typed in one prompt and it generated the 4 photos would I only have 196 more that month??
On average I'd say roughly 200 generations including the 4 and upscales - but in reality, you're buying a set amount of processing hours - so if you have more complex designs or up the quality you'll chew it up faster. Unortunately wha tyou get is a little vague.
Can you somehow use the image of specific person on multiple pictures so you can do a storyboard so that person is in every image?
You could do that for sure, acouple of consistent images of the character that you add into your prompt would ne the hardest bit. Either trying nunch of prompts u til yoh get it or even photoshoppijg a few inages together to get the start. I havent done this tho, just my thoughts on what i would try.

Depends on what country you are in and their laws. However, regardless, Midjourney also own any images you create

Definitely. I use all my devices, including ipad, with the discord app. It is all processed by their servers so no performance issues :)
I just tried my first few creations and when I tried to upscale and variations on any of the art it says interaction failed. Any tips?
Hi Laura, I get this too. I think its just the server load. AS MigJourney ahs become really popular, my theory is the server plays up sometimes and stops working briefly. I could be wrong though!

Not sure, if you mean the opnmversation I believe you can search conversations for your username to filter / go to you mentions if that helps. Is that what you mean?
Is MidJourney like Lensa in terms of taking artists' work without compensation? Like paying royalties to artists whose work they are using in their AI?
I have very recently read that it may be the case. But i dont know for sure. If so, i do think thats a moral dilemma and i hope they give back to those artists in some way in the future.

Not sure! Id say if yoy dont beleive itll make million+ itd be safe, but otherwise you could always email them directly. I personally would probably feel fine with it but cant recommend in any legal sense.
You pay nothing since there is no authorship- no one owns it. However, anyone else can use it; you have no protection from its reuse.
I have a question... why should we find a newbie channel and all the people will be able to see our artworks and download them? is there any channel with a privacy? so nobody can view our generated art?
If you have a paid subcription, you can message the bot directly, but full privacy is a paid add on about $20 a mo th last i checked
When I tried my picture's url with --iw 4 I got this errer:
Invalid parameter
Cannot use --version 4 with only a single image prompt

Also /relax will save you on your fast hours and from my experience is still pretty fast and just as detailed

You can upload an imagine into another conversation (your own discord server?) Copy the url from there. You can click the plus button near the servers on the left to create your own server easily enough, then in the text field theres a plus to add images (on phone, im not near a desktop to check atm)

How I can import and edit my on images
Do you want to upload a pre-existing image and use Midjourney to edit it? Midjourney can't edit photos but it can use them for reference. You can upload an image into your own midjourney server and copy/paste the URL from there. I may do a video up on how to do this..

You do ha e to oay after the free trial, but you get a certain amount of 'hours' which translate to a certain amount of rendering time. So it could be 15, 20 or more images for free depending on the type of images and upscales you use.

Its all done on the cloud so no processing power needed. I do a lot on my phone easily enough.

You can upload an image to discord, copy the image URL and paste it into the prompt. You may not be able to upload to a newbie channel, so you may need to add your own server for that reason and paste it into there.
@@WadeMcMaster How to make an own server? I have to pay money right? But I think that should be worth it. I am also doing some music and have ideas for covers. How are there the rights to use them? What if I change the picture with Corel Painter or Photoshop and make my own version? I am not doing millions with the music and am not willing to do so. It is more underground so there shouldn´t be a problem? Sorry for asking so many questions :D
@@Raven_Moon777 I can;pt say legally for sure, but I think the risk is low from my perspective. I've been using these images as long as I your account is paid, altering them will definitely help. Making you own servier in discord is easy enough, in the left menu there's the midjourney server in a small circle - then click the plus in the circle. However, I am unfamiliar with adding the bot to your server. I haven't yet done it.

You can but you dont have exclusive copyright (midjourney also has rights to the picture, and in certain countries you cant copyright them but you can use them)

i dont know how you are getting the image to be recognized
Add in Image weight. so at the end type --iw then a number from 1 to 5 (5 being the highest number to reference the image, 1 is almost liek the image isnt there)

Yeah the discord app works on android, thats what i use :)

You can pay $10US per monthfor a small quote, but I recommend the $30 so you can use Relax mode and have virtually unlimited use.

As an artist this is utterly terrorfying. The future is going to bleak for all peoples in all fields and careers. At that point we'll have civilization collapse.
I personally think itll be a heavily used tool that will shake things up. Im not worried at this stage as all good tools require knowledge to operate and that becomes another skill. In all honesty tho, no one knows what the de ades will bring with this so i think you have a valid perspective. Its a pretty open possibility.
I disagree. I could see a future where artists can actually upload "layers" of pieces of an overall finished work. Upload them/sell them as templates with their associated descriptions to an AI-generator art service that others can commission to use (that then the AI-generator has the ability to manipulate). If there's a recurrent-fee to all of this then the uploaded work(s) via artists should go into it if users want to design what ultimately is a hodge-podge of original art templates from a variety of artists and that art being further manipulated by AI. The "future" isn't so bleak

I am an artist and am not intimidated by this at all. ❤ Art is limitless. This goes as far as the mind can imagine much faster. You will be even more talented with this than you are now. It’s a tool for you just like a brush or a knife. No AI can ever replace the mind of an artist! You are unique and so are your thoughts and creations.
I disagree. This will make artists level up and find a new way to reinvent themselves, making art the most superior in history thus leading to the greatest civilization in history. Also, non artists being able to show their ideas visually is a game changer and will allow people to communicate better.

I tried it but it kicked me off within moments of doing the first image. No explanation. Clearly they are just using us to gather data and don't actually want to help.
Oh that's odd. Were you able to try another email address? Unless you're simply not interested anymore. either way that's a weird thing to happen.
@@WadeMcMaster Thanks for replying, I was very interested. It would be a perfect system to create illustrations for my world-builder fantasy setting. I would be worried however, that they would just withdraw permission or change the rules partway through, given that they did this without explanation anything seems possible.
Thats fair enough too. Often companies change their terms very quietly so thats a valid point.

Keep signing up for free emails ans keep joining the trial. I don't exactly agree with it ethically but thats about the only answer. If we can, we need to support this technology financially - but i understand thats not always possible for some people :(

haha, yeah, that's no longer there I think. I don;t think they had a great income in the beginning but now the platform is huge I don't think they need that expensive a level.
