- We live in a culture that’s highly spiritual - and not religious. But no matter where we’re coming from, we’re all still asking the same question: “What must I do to be saved?” All of us are looking for the one thing we can do to live the best lives possible now, and ensure we get the life we want in the future too. Jesus’s answer to the question everyone’s asking is beautifully simple...Join us Sunday for an amazing message about the one choice you can make that will change everything in your life.
Grace for grace, we have all received....
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (July 18), this was the basis for our Sunday School Lesson of the Day. It was entitled "The Faith of Abraham." The hymn, "All My Hope on God Is Founded," written by Joachim Neander (1650-1690) and paraphrased by Robert Bridges (1844-1930), is a good hymn to compliment this Scripture, regardless of denomination.

ROMANS 4:1-25 EXPLAINED :
1. What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh ( circumcision of flesh/body for SIN , or the law of animal sacrifice ) , hath found?
2For if Abraham were justified ( justified means to be atoned , forgiven , or redeemed from SIN ) by works ( law of animal sacrifice ) , he hath whereof to glory; but not before God (but before the priests of Leviticus ) .
3For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God ( obeyed God ) , and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4Now to him that worketh (goes through the law of animal sacrifice ) is the reward not reckoned of grace ( blood of Christ by obedience ) , but of debt ( indebted to the Leviticus priests , who do the work for you ) .
5But to him that worketh not ( not go through the law of animal sacrifice ) , but believeth ( obey ) on him ( Jesus Christ ) that justifieth ( forgive ) the ungodly ( one's who hast transgress the Father's laws ) , his faith ( Romans 10:17 , " 17.So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God " ) is counted for righteousness .
6Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works ( law of animal sacrifice ) ,
7Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities ( transgression of his laws ) are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin .
( The apostle Paul explains this ( Romans 5:13-14 , " For until the law sin was in the world : but sin is not imputed when there is no law . Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses , even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression , who is the figure of him that was to come " ) .
What is sin ?
Answer , the transgression of the law of God ( 1 John3:4 ) .
Paul stated that until the law ( what law ? ) , sin ; which is the transgression of the law of God was in the world ( sin came into the world when Adam transgressed against the law of God ) , but sin ; which is the transgression of the law of God is not imputed ( represents something undersirable as been done , caused , or possesed by someone ) when there is no law .
This law is not the commandments/instructions of God ; which includes all the covenants , but a sin sacrifice law that came at the time of Moses ; the law of animal sacrifice of works ; which was not of faith ( Romans 3:27-28 , " 27.Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law " ) .
9Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision ( children of Israel , under the law of animal sacrifice , or circumcision of flesh/body for sin ) only, or upon the uncircumcision ( Gentiles , not under the law f animal sacrifice , or circumcision of flesh/body for sin ) also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
10How was it then reckoned? when he ( Abraham ) was in circumcision ( law of animal sacrifice , or circumcision of flesh/body for sin ), or in uncircumcision ( not under the law of animal sacrifice , or circumcision of flesh/body for sin ) ? Not in circumcision ( law of animal sacrifice ) , but in uncircumcision ( not under the law of sacrifice ) : Abraham was never under the law of animal sacrifice of works ; that was given to the children of Israel , when they started breaking the Father's laws without repenting by faith ; after they went into a covenant with the God of Israel .
11And he received the sign of circumcision ( heart/spirit ) , a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised ( circumcision of flesh/body for sin ) : that he might be the father of all them ( Gentiles ) that believe ( obey God ) , though they be not circumcised ( Gentiles not circumcision of flesh/body for sin , or law of animal sacrifice ) ; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
12And the father of circumcision ( Israelites under the law of animal sacrifice & oblations ) to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham ( obedience ) , which he had being yet uncircumcised.
13For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law ( law of animal sacrifice of works ) , but through the righteousness of faith ( repenting of your sins , then believing by obedience ; which is keeping the commandments of your mediator Jesus Christ ; which he received from the Father ) .
14For if they which are of the law ( law of animal sacrifice , or circumcision of flesh/body for sin ) be heirs, faith ( repentance and believing ) is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
15Because the law ( law of animal sacrifice & works ) worketh wrath: for where no law is , there is no trangression .
The apostle Paul explains this :
( Romans 5:13-14 , " For until the law sin was in the world : but sin is not imputed when there is no law .
Until the law of animal sacrifice was given to the children of Israel , through their mediator Moses ; the God of Israel required all men to repent by faith . Grace by faith hast always been available , for the ones who live by faith ; the the priesthood of Melchisedec .
This law is not the commandments/instructions of God ; which includes all the covenants , but a sin sacrifice law that came at the time of Moses ; the law of animal sacrifice of works ; which was not of faith ( Romans 3:27-28 , "
27.Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law " ) , there is no transgression .
16Therefore it is of faith ( repenting with a sorrowful heart , then believing by obedience ; which is keeping the commandments of your mediator Jesus ; which he received from the Father ) , that it might be by grace ( Jesus blood through obedience ) ; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law ( Israelites with the circumcision of the flesh/body for sin , or the law of animal sacrifice ) , but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham ( Gentiles not under the covenant of the Father , and hast not received the law of animal sacrifice ) ; who is the father of us all ( Abraham was never under the law of animal sacrifice , he lived by faith ) ,
17(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God ( The Word came to declare the Father ; the one called Yahweh , Jehovah , I AM , God of Abraham , Isaac and Jacob , Melchisedec ; is the one who created the world ; he is also the priesthood of faith , Melchisedec ; which came in the flesh to declare the Father ) , who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
This is so well outlined that I have to see it again. This is GREAT👼
Thank you....no words can I say can possibly express how you helped me tonight. Thank you thank you
Now Psalm 32 is just about forgiveness but if you read down in the Psalm it was because they repent. Now let's do a little Bible study to see what he referring to Genesis 15:1-6 where Abraham had a vision and in verse 6 that is where he was counted righteous or "aman" which is to carry something or support but it goes in verse 6 to tell us something that happened earlier in Genesis 12:1-8. In Genesis 12:1-8 Abraham was given the same given over again and told for the promise to be fulfilled he would have to obey God and leave his homeland and he made altars and gave burnt offerings on the way and did all kinds of things for God in the following chapters. In fact, Hebrews 11:8 the Fatih chapter says this was Abraham's faith here obeying God. As for Romans 3 and the rest of Romans 4, Romans 11, Galatians 2 and Galatians 3, those in context are about the law of Moses which there two laws the other is the law of Christ see 1 Corinthians 9:21 and there are issues as well like the uncircumcised saints before Abraham is one because some Jews believed circumcision was the birthright to salvation and there were no works needed for born Jew. That is another fallacy circumcision isn't done by the baby or even by an adult getting it is done by a priest or Rabbi so it isn't a work and if you read the New Testament Jews believed they were saved by circumcision done by the priest alone. As for Ephesians 2:8-10 it is about the initial justification for your sins from before you were saved as the context in verses 1-6 shows. Just a hand full of passages that teach works being a part of salvation include 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 John 3:36 Revelation 2:5-7 Revelation 22:12 (in Luke 10:25-28 Jesus salvation is by loving him, in John 14:15 Jesus says what loving him is and in 1 John 5:2-4 says if you love Jesus you will keep his commandments) Hebrews 5:8-9 Galatians 6:7-9 Philippians 2:12 Colossians 3:23-25 James 2:14-24 1 Romans 6:16-22 (22 makes it clear) Corinthians 9:24-27. If you go to Hebrews 11 in the Greek it defines toward the start of the chapter as “hypostasis" which “hypostasis" is a very common word from Aristotle on and comes from "huphistemi," what stands under anything (a building, a contract, a promise).” Your faith though is not what he promises or what he builds it's what you build under him and with him. Let's continue to the next source. Clement of Alexandria and others make this same argument about "pistis" and “Hypostasis" but without the picture just stating that it was a physical action which Romans 14 showing little means little action supports this. Secular writers made the point about "hypostasis" so this was not isolated to Christians understanding just from Hebrews the author used something in Greek thought.
