Bare in mind that both the DUP and Sinn Fein both disagreed with MLA's having their pay suspended while the assembly wasn't sitting. This despite the NHS here being a disgrace and the cost of living skyrocketing. Suspend _all of their pay_ until there is a sitting assembly, and then see how they will all miraculously start doing what they were voted in to do.

@@captainwin6333 - Sinn Fein crashed the assembly for several years in 2017. One of sticking points for the assembly reconvening was Sinn Fein's insistence on the Irish Language Act being introduced. Think it's a bit more complex than that.
Catholic unionists may vote Sinn Fein, but would they vote for a UI? - look at the SNP's voter base and how many actually support independence for example.
Would the Republic of Ireland want it? - it would be like taking a problem child into their house.
Would the Irish people support the hike in tax to pay for it?
      Would violence break out again?
Ireland would be taking on near to 1 million separatists who want nothing to do with reunification - they are indeed ethnically British after all.

Unionism has had very poor leadership for years. They really need to rethink/ rebrand their arguments to appeal to the traditional NATIONALIST voter, instead of constantly polarising the community with their usual sensationalising of issues that stir up old unionist rhetoric.
I waited to see if the unionist parties would finally embrace the Irish language which poses no threat to the union.
I wanted to hear them tell me why I am better off to remain part of the UK. I wanted reassurance that my interests and those of my family will be best catered for within Northern Ireland. Unionism might finally respect all citizens of the community of Northern Ireland.
Unfortunately they didn’t say anything that showed they had my best interests at heart. They keep singing to the choir. Each unionist party trying to outdo the other unionist parties on how divisive and bigoted they can be. The world has had enough of that mindset.

It was only a matter of time. Im a unionist myself, i fully believe in being part of Great Britain 🇬🇧 however, Unionist parties over here have been legit shit consistently for many years now. 3 seperate unionist parties up against a united ireland party (one party) which is SF. They have better leadership compared to the Unionists. Many people i talk to over here say they no longer care, why? No leadership to give them a reason to CARE. Where as SF supporters have a specfic goal and in which care about the vote
It was only a matter of time before we were defeated. I dont hold any grudges for anyone voting for SF and a united Ireland, we all have the right to vote, if people of NI didnt want a united ireland, then they should have went out and vote, and the unionists should have had more unity along with leadership.

The simple reason being, who wants to be part of a country that owes millions of euros in loans to the EU. Plus there’s no NHS in the Republic of Ireland only a system in which you pay for all treatment. No DLA benefits, higher taxes, higher insurance, higher crime rate etc etc. Therefore any one with half a brain should realize that voting to leave one of the wealthiest nations in the world is a no brainer. I for one believe Sinn Finn hasn’t thought there policies through. The Irish Republic could never foot the Bill needed to keep the north of Ireland stable. So I don’t believe Sinn Finn will be the biggest party as all their out for really is the money 💰 & a title.

It's our choice and our choice alone. We go, NI goes ,Wales too how is England holding onto that security council seat? Where are you storing trident, majority of English ports aren't deep enough for it .There'd have to be a border on Scotland if they go i hear you say? if there was well think of all those permanent security and border jobs that would come up over night . who's defending Scottish waters, i'm sure we can lease or loan use friggates and or destroyers from someone till we build ours.....oh look more jobs! We'd have to adopt the same system as Switzerland with 2/3 years military service and on notice after leaving it for civvy. So yeah not as stupid as you thought.

If Northern Ireland becomes part of the Republic, that lady's wish of having unfettered access to the UK and EU market would be even more difficult, without the NI bargaining chip the UK can just completely close the border to Ireland, Irish people would also lose their special status of not needing visas to enter the UK, in the long run I believe it would make the UK stronger, we could completely isolate Ireland and remove the EU blackmailing us.
