    Wow!! Beauty Snakes were well named. Those Cave Dwelling Rat Snakes are almost glowing. I have seen a few but most have been hatchlings or very young. The few older ones I've seen have been pretty spectacular. Blanding's Tree Snakes are impressive Animals. I have only ever seen photos and videos of them and never a live one that I'm aware of. A very interesting video this week. Last weeks video was enjoyable to me though.

    Other than being a little defensive as babies my ridleyi are very calm. Noo biting, striking, and I haven’t seen a threat display since they were tiny. I keep them in a large planted enclosure and they are beautiful to watch in there. They’re perfect for that type enclosure because they don’t smash the plants, and since they are crepuscular They come out in the morning and evening the two main times I’m around to watch them. They seem very smart and curious too, I often catch them watching me, they definitely know Im the food monkey.
    I remember that old video you and Apple took of the ridleyi, the one from that special cave the a Monk? That video is what first made me interested in them.

      TH-camrs and FB sensations love to show off their defensive ones and make it worse by provoking them. I have had both very docile and very defensive ones. Babies are generally the feistier species by comparison to blue beauties and Chinese but it is all individual. I personally like defensive babies of everything because I know they are going to feed easier. Yes, every cave has the potential to harbor a unique population just slightly different than the next....you just have to find the ones that are unknown or protected because it doesn't take long to empty out a cave whether by collecting or just human foot traffic.

    First..I'll take the pair of ridleyi...lol...without thinking....that is just a no brainer...hehe...my females look very similar to those but my male is from a different breeding and is much darker coloring with almost no orange...the blandings are one of my top 5 these days...as mentioned before..my wc male was so awesome and still so sad that I lost him...he was at least 9ft+...I just can not wait for you to have cbb....he had the coloring of that second one that you pulled out...such beautiful greys and blacks and the yellow....oh so nice..he is now waiting in the freezer for tanning...I just could not let such an awesome animal go to complete waste. He will make a belt or something someday....all pretty awesome..thanks again for the vid.

      They were breeding this week and even though they are still young, I have bred Orthriophis at a very young age before. I wasn't trying to push it but the female looked like she was building for follicle development so I followed her lead and I caught them locked up.

    The adult ridleyi pair is outrageous. Are you guys noticing any specific differences when it comes to locales? Boiga cyanea are looking sharp.

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The ridleyi that we see in different caves in the wild, there are differences. Unfortunately on the hobby side of things, everyone labels everything as Cameron Highlands and I have even seen re-sellers making a poor attempt at representation mis-spelling it as Cameroon Highlands. Others will label WC ridleyi as being from Thailand but that country is closed to export so that is wrong. Grabowskyi from Borneo? Try Sumatra but you just gotta either trust who you are dealing with or learn about what you are getting involved with because sellers just want your money and skip the being knowledgable part.

    • @rresmini
      @rresmini 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DMExotics Thank you for your time, much appreciated. Speaking of Borneo - have you on your travels ever encountered the royal/rainbow tree snake (is it still gonyophis margaritatus)?

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Almost none out there are documented as actually being Cameron Highlands locality. It is a name that everyone seems to throw around to indicate that theirs are colorful. Mine in this video are undocumented but we have wild caught Cameron Highland animals in our Malaysia facility and they exactly don’t look like these. Your best bet is to see the parents and if you like how they look, buy their offspring.

    The yellow under the chin is white and turns into mainstream color. They are clever & smell off bay guano, understandable why people dont take them out that mutch 😂

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine don’t smell at all…the ones I’ve encountered in the wild also never gave off any odor. I really only handle my snakes for cleaning or checking for eggs(or the rare video). I don’t know if people take them out much or not…although Facebook posts I see a lot of people holding them. I think the female from this video will be laying eggs within one month.

    • @TVelodrome
      @TVelodrome ปีที่แล้ว

      Im probably wrong then, they musked a lot when they got packed, was separating both mouth gabing lunching, whipping everything 😅 cud be my location & and the wc import affected the price, Im referring to the grabowskyi from Sumatra,They have also been 4 places in one year, but I'm glad to hear that actually makes everything a lot easier going forwards thanks!

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TVelodrome If you are man-handling wc snakes and stuffing them into bags, or a TH-camr intentionally waving your hands and smacking around snakes to make them angry, scared and defensive for views....yes, they will open their mouths and probably musk. Most of mine are really good because I act calm and am not doing anything to make them fear me. I have a really nice wc baby grabowskyi I just got....it has a yellow chin as a hatchling. There are so many ssp and locality beauty rats that the hobby has not seen yet and from countries that do not export, I am having a lot of fun over here.

  • @-cMc-
    @-cMc- 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wish you would use common names Google doesn't respond well when I have typoes. Maybe print the scientific name and say the comon name. Right now I like the snakes but I have no idea how to even look them up

    • @DMExotics
      @DMExotics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did that for about the first couple hundred videos but now I am getting lazy and at the slow pace this channel is growing, we shouldn't have many new viewers anyway. Common names are a horrible way to do research but these scientific names should help you....Orthriophis taeniurus ridleyi, Orthriophis taeniurus callicyanous, Boiga dendrophila latifasciata, Boiga cyanea, Toxicodryas blandingii. You can always watch one of the "Masterclass" videos where we list that information since those serve as care sheets with natural history but these informal videos are just me showing new stock.
