I've heard of people surviving large falls, and there exists the "sports" of parachuting, bungee jumping, and high diving into pools, so I want to clarify if it was a deadly fall, or a controled, survived fall. I know I’m a year late, and someone may have already said this, but the whole loss of blood flow in the hands thing is actually called “Raynauds disease / phenomenon” which causes a reduced blood flow in fingers or toes! It is commonly triggered by stress and the cold! And is easily reversible by warming up whatever is dealing with the issue! :]

To all the barbers out there who are watching this video because worried friends sent it to you: No need to be alarmed, your shaving machines wont't cause what you see in this video. This is Raynaud's syndrome. The condition occurs because blood vessels go into a temporary spasm, which blocks the flow of blood. This causes the affected area to change colour to white, then blue and then red, as the bloodflow returns. When you suffer from Raynaud's disease, this is usually triggered by cold temperatures, anxiety or stress. If you don't have this disease, the only way to lose a finger from shaving is if you're clumsy af, in which case you probably shouldn't run a barbershop.

Sorry, but you are incorrect. You’re about 90% right in what you said, but you are missing that Raynaud’s Syndrome can also be caused by mechanical vibration. We studied it in university in Human Factors Engineering, it is a potential hazard of using tools with excessive vibration / insufficient safeguards (like anti-vibration gloves, etc.). You can also see that referenced under Causes on the Wikipedia article for the condition (and no I didn’t just write that section to try and win a TH-cam comment haha). Cheers bud.

Patients who have been using the tech for a while have regained some ability to control their limbs, even without the technology. The hope is once we learn more about why the tech helps regenerate the spinal cord, that we will actually CURE paralysis. With their test on mice, while not the majority, it has already been the case.

yeah. at 3 years old i had surgery done and my parents were told that i might never walk again if i even make it, somehow i was able to after a relatively short recovery time, but i still remember it, and the fear of getting an injury that leaves me unable to walk or draw has always followed me since then, so hearing about this was pretty great news! it wasn’t ever that big of an anxiety for me, since the chances of it happening are pretty unrealistic and it didn’t really affect day to day life or anything, but it’s just one less anxiety to worry about, and a nice general boost to my hope for humanity !

The cat path also applies to dogs. I had a dog that did the exact same thing, followed the same path around the side of the house. When he passed and we got a new dog several years later, she did the same thing, and subsequent dogs did it as well without any prompting. The reason we think is because the path followed the roofline of the house, and when it rained, the water cut a divot into the dirt where there were no gutters. The end result was a smooth, water-worn path free of rocks and debris that probably felt nice to the dogs’ paws.

Lots, dare i say most animals do this, and its not pheromones or anything relating to scent. Its a case of simple energetics. By wearing down a "game trail" animals exert less energy over time when covering the same distance as the more the trail is used, the less plants and other obstacles grow up making it easier and quicker to travel along. Hope this makes sense!

One time i saw a cat following the line exactly and realised that it made itself a little path. Sometime later I actually walked over the grass and saw that the path made it harder for the grass to grow there and the rain had washed away the dirt a bit more than elsewhere so it actually looked like a proper cat sized footpath like the ones you'll find on hiking trails.

It wouldn’t help me as my disability is not paralysis but I did have several years of not being able to walk at all before getting back the ability to walk a very limited amount due to a physical rehab program, so I am very familiar with the difference that getting some leg usage can make and how it feels to get a bit of mobility back.

Depending on how old they are it can be worse. 13-14 year olds don’t constantly talk like this as if it’s plain English, but some of the not extremely cringy lingo is thrown in as well. People who do talk like this constantly are ostracized commonly. Also, lingo isn’t as bad as people think. Sure, too much of it can be really annoying, but some of it is fine. If lingo didn’t exist, the word ok wouldn’t exist.

0:12 I have a condition like this and it's really scary. Not from vibrations, but from a separate condition that ended up triggering Raynaud's disease. I completely lose circulation in my hands and feet and it looks exactly like that. Winter this year was brutal (and I'm Canadian god help me) since even slight cold is a huge trigger. It's especially scary since not only can I lose my fingers, but you can't feel them. Meaning if I'm cutting cold fruit or something similar, I could cut myself or seriously injure my hands without even realizing it. Props to barbers for going through that while working, especially with all the blades and whatnot!
