I have been doing somethin similar in my roto league for over 10 years. What I mostly derive from it is per game pace for each cat and each team I can then target cats where I can reasonably expect to gain positions if I am able to increase my pace in that cat. Games in hand also plays into the analysis. As always, good stuff.
do you have a discord account? I’m curious to talk shop about roto, I’m in a league and don’t have too many people who understand the flow of the league
Great video, it certainly helps to determine which categories to invest in. My strategy is a bit different. Instead of trying to improve my weakest stat against my opponent, I prefer to sacrifice 1-2 stats and boost the ones I'm confident will put me ahead.
This scenario is currently giving me thought in Rotos. Is it better to simply boost your already good stats and try to hold onto top spots instead of trying to allocate resources and mangames to your weak cats, allowing other teams to gain on you where you lead, and perhaps not gain enough in the weaker stats to catch up with others. I guess it comes down to the amount of separation within stats.
Your vids are great! I really like this kind of strategy that category leagues have. Although it kind of annoys me when the clown categories have the same value as goals/assists.
This is a great thing to look even if it is very discouraging sometimes lol For instance in my 12 team league base on goalie and offense ranks I should be 2, I am 10th. It's just timing, my team has started to come around so hopefully I will get close to that ranking
Absolutely fantastic. It’s got me thinking about other possibilities. Like pulling stats from current roster players from natural stat trick and using the same idea…that might be too crazy lol
This is something I started doing this year, overall its pretty awesome but may be a bit time consuming. My excel took me about 30-40 min to set up initially but now that it's created it takes about 10-15 min on Mondays (inputting/updating both of our teams stats) and 5 min everyday (updating match up stats from the previous day/lowering games remaining on players). It tells me all our expected CATS by the end of the week and the difference. For example this week I'm expected to end the week with ~63 HITS vs his ~31 so I know I'm good on that category but SOG and BLKS are close so I'll focus this week on streamers that will help me there. Additionally as I update our current matchup/games remaining it continues to update the expected results so if I start getting a comfortable lead in a certain category I'll know it and can switch my focus to another.

there is something you could talk about in a vidja team optimization ive noticed that people win using differing methods some are not optimal imo like having your own backup vs a third starter or just have the two or two from different teams in cat leagues you only have to q2 or 3 a week.do you need that that 5th start? what if you use another fw or d instead or both. what if you only have 1 g that qs twice a week and extra what you need like blocks instead ? i like to build winger heavy assists teams. they lack in shots ,so i try and make up for it with my bench of meir and tanev .nut that isnt optimal is it? just spitballin gohabsgo
I'm in a situation where I'm carrying too many d-men, and the ones I'm carrying don't fill out some categories. Plus, my league has 10 forward slots and only 4 defense slots, and 1 utility. My defensemen are Josi, Hamilton, Sanderson, Brandt Clarke, Walman, Dunn Not sure if I should drop any of them for forwards like Olofsson, Kastillic, Lundell, Zacha, Wright, Schwartz, Pacioretty, or for d-men that a producing like Grzelyck, Lacombe, Murphy? The rest of my roster has Matthews, Rossi, Guentzel, Debrincat, Nichushkin, Vilardi, Caufield, Guenther, Stutzle, Dubois, Rakell, Lehkonen 12 team, H2H, G, A, P, PPP, SOG, HIT, BLK, PIM

2:43 I'm useless when it comes to excel lol. I watched this like 10 times and I still couldn't figure out what you were doing. I know you're speaking english, but none of the words are making sense :P
just type in the formula=percenrank.exc(, then click and drag from B2 to the last entry in that column. Then hit "," and then click on B2.Then hit enter.
Imo, keep Thomas for the same reason you mentioned. I've found that Consistency is key in point leagues and I don't think Thomas is slowing down any time soon
Great stuff! More of this
Great video thanks for the hidden knowledge
Guys out here teaching my pivot tables, making me better at my job 😂
Thank you
thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can confirm this will also work with other leagues like ESPN. Thanks for sharing mate!

Not at all what I was expecting to see. Really good insight into how you can use data.
Cool, thanks for the tips

Thoughts on offering Necas & Boeser for Makar?
Replacements at RW are Rust & Zetterlund. Moore on IR.
Dahlin & Middleton on IR.
I'll offer you $5 for your $15

what about the next day when the stats change do you do this everyday with updated stats
Should I try and trade bobrovsky for shesterkin? Both are inconsistent goalies but I feel like I could get more out of shesterkin. (Points league)
I've never liked Bob in fantasy but at least his teams defense is good unlike Igor. I genuinely don't know how the Rangers get out of this mess either

Just need a quick opinion please: R. Thomas or Hischier? I'm being offered Hischier... but im worried with the trends. Points league
Imo, keep Thomas for the same reason you mentioned. I've found that Consistency is key in point leagues and I don't think Thomas is slowing down any time soon
Hishcier is better for ppp shots and goals but Thomas has the better point per game and assist numbers, depends what you need
So is this technially power ranks
