ive been a interrn at a book publicher that makes bioligi books as a graphic designer. we use many colors on our illustrated pictures this is a lifesaver!
I would check for style overrides. Setting the color to "ignore" in character styles doesn't change anything; it just says that it doesn't care if it's not a specific color to become an override. -EG

If there is no value in a field, it will be ignored. Just delete the size. -EG
