    A good ar15. I've owned dozens of both since the 80s. Colt, Sandra, drasen, Olympic, bushmaster, Smith and wesson, Daniel defence, cmmg and others. On the ak side I had a norinco 84s, maidi, Egyptian, Hungarian, Romanian, and others. Both are fun. I spent the 80s and 90s in the army, shot many firearms over the years. But I'd go with the ar platform because of how many configurations, spares, sights, accessories in general. You take care of it like anything else it will take care of you. Same goes for the aks. It is a myth that aks never jam or have issues, that just not reality, and they are more susceptible to rust, they aren't as accurate, but that's because a standard ak uses sight technology that goes back over 100 years. Many countries have upgraded both platforms all over the world and no doubt they will be around for many years to come, again they both work well, but they aren't infallible, lots of ammo, mags, and parts can be found. If you can have both or many of both, then good for you, enjoy it. But if I could only have one it would be one of my ars, just my choice. Get what you can afford, and practice with it, and keep up with weapons maintenance, and they should give you many years of good service. During our foreign weapons classes we would bring out some old aks that had rust, rotting wood, etc, but they still went boom when you pulled the trigger most the time.

    The AR is going to be tighter grouping at farther distances than the AK but the AK is an absolute ender within 150 yards. Throwing a heavier bullet within point blank range up to close quarters is nice stuff. The AR is going to give you more velocity which can translate to penetration ability though.

    I would choose the ak platform over the AR, I know plenty of Iraq war veterans who prefer the AK over their M4 platform during the war based on the horror stories they've told me with their ar platform and the sand.

    • @TKindustries
      @TKindustries ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As I stated the ak platform is so rugged and reliable it’s a no brainer for someone looking to buy a rifle for a SHTF situation but the Ar platform for plinking or just shooting for fun. My AR’s jams like no other with dirt and sand

    • @0311matt
      @0311matt ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm one of those Iraq vets that switched to the AK for their "go to war rifle". the AR is superior in a lot of ways, but in the end, I'll take an AK 9/10.

    I think aks are really cool but i gotta say that you probably have jamming problems with your ar because you buy the cheapest ones you can get. I have built many different ar-15s and they are all very reliable, no jams or anything, running dry or wet. Well made ar-15s are very reliable.

    • @TKindustries
      @TKindustries ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My psa build don’t jam like my cheap gun but any sand gets in the bcg it likes to not lock up and short strike. I guess my point is that dollar for dollar ak is more reliable than ar a cheaper ak like the one shown in the video and a ar that’s around the same price the ak will out preform the ar of the same value!

    • @LosDoyerss
      @LosDoyerss ปีที่แล้ว

      Try sand, the AR won't run for shit. Even mud it will start to malfunction. The simplicity of the AK is superior.

    Don't feel too bad about the quality of your AR, if this was 20 years back $400 wouldn't have even gotten you a used AR. I remember paying almost $800 after taxes for an Olympic Arms AR-15 that was half the quality of yours and it pretty much resembled the very first M16 A1s except it had a fixed tulip flash hider that could not be removed or replaced, no bayonet lug, no sling swivel, a paper-thin barrel, no forward assist, and super cheap Bakelite Style handguard. This was back when we were dealing with the post-ban pre-ban bulshit in the late 90s and early 2000s. But aks where a hell of a lot cheaper back then though, and ak47>>>>>ar15 all day long 😁

      I just try to show things everyone can afford! I got a cheap ak and had a cheap ar so I compared them! Cause of course the 1500$ ar will probably out run the 500$ ak and viceVersa. I’m trying to keep this channel as pocket friendly as possible for now!
