This is a really helpful video. I just picked one of these up for $30 USD and this vid is more helpful than the instruction manual in a number of ways. Thanks!
For a 'toy keyboard' it is quite impressive and a lot of a synth, but it will not replace a real synth in depth of the sound in a mix. But I want one for use in my bedroom.
@@kenzieprice6745 As a matter of fact, I just got a second HT-6000, this time from Germany. Beautiful condition, the dynamics of the keyboard are superb. And it also came with the RA-100 RAM card.
Congrats. I have been on the lookout for a HT-6000 in better condition than the one I have. The white Hohner KS would be even better! It seems most people just stumble around the presets on these and dismiss them really quickly because they are not instant gratification. Something about them when you start playing with parameters and making music, especially multi tracking really brings something out in these and are super inspiring for me. Have any content up with it?
@@kenzieprice6745 I think the presets are excellent on the HT-6000. As I said before, the velocity sensitivity makes the presets very expressive. As far as content goes, maybe I'll post something when the motivation comes. So far, I am quite discouraged by TH-cam copyright strikes policies.
very good demo indeed ... great in fact! demos like this can done by talented musicians like the Synthdude prove how fine some if not most Casio electronic instruments are to the skeptics who think it's a 'cheap' company producing garbage! this particular demo also shows there's nothing particularly wrong with the 8-bit sound quality for professional work ...
as for RAM cards, there are some other Casio models that do have a RAM card slot, although they're not 'standard' ... these models range from the PT series (like PT-50 and PT-30) to Casio CZ-101 that came out in 1990, which is the first full synthesizer with 2 oscillators albeit on a mini keyboard sold at an affordable price ($500 at the time) ... it's the small version of the full-size-keys CZ-100 btw, and has the Internal presets as well just like this one ... it's a great little synth with some really beautiful sounds and professional performance abilities through in/out MIDI sockets and all the works ... (i bought it for $60 in a pawn shop in Maryland, USA in the year 2000 ... didn't know what a gem it is, just bought it because i like Casio instruments and this one looked particularly nice and pro, cheap (could have offered $20 only and still be able to get it as the pawn shop guy was generous enough!) and i also liked its sounds and everything ... later, when i read about it on the Internet, i realized o, well, i have quite a thing for myself!) :-)
Fantastic series of videos on 700, thanks so much. I got really lucky over the past month and managed to get both a 700 and a 3000 (and not off of eBay!). I've been a diehard CZ fan forever but this SD line is truly extraordinary, once you dig in like you have. Just add MIDI cables and some external reverb/delay and it's a series of synths that do so much and have stood the test of time. Oh, and thanks for featuring the bass so heavily here. So many people say the SDs can't do bass. Yes, the "Synth Bass" tone kinda sucks, but I've programmed a number of my own which sound fantastic.
+Ivo Glasser , no, unless the keys and key size make a difference to you, the synthesis and sounds are the same. Much like the difference between a CZ-101 and CZ-1000. The big difference is with the HT-6000. I found one of those a few months ago and the differences there are extraordinary in terms of capabilities and sound.
I recently found one of these at a second-hand shop with the original box. Everything seems to be working just swell on it. Nice little synth to play around with, it's actuallly my first true synth sampling keyboard. You can adjust quite a few parameters on it to make your own tones.
I meant the CZ's 'use' the RA3/ RA6 ram cards! They are a bit more common than the RA100 cards, though not exactly plentiful and do hold their prices well also. The bigger CZ's (3000/ 5000/ 1) have battery backed memories and don't lose saved patches when the units are switched off.
played mine too much and the keys came loose, just found some chump not realizing it worth selling it for 70 bucks!!! my lucky day this key board is so amazing to play on
I've got one, tried several times to use it as a midi controller, but its midi send is always a chaotic thing, practically unusable (as a MIDI controller, the synth is GREAT) i've searched the web for any reference to the cause of the problem, if is it a really old keyboard to use as a midi controller or maybe just a config matter. The MIDI OUT signal is pretty good though.
+Benjamin Marcelo Caballero Yeah - I don't use it as a controller, so I can't help you. It's a pretty useful little instrument though :->) Thanks for watching
None of the HT series (including HZ 600) can retain saved internal patches after the machine has been turned off, unless you leave batteries in it. The Casio CZ101/ 1000 is the same. Whether they could from new I don't know. However, if you can get hold of an RA100 ram card (for the HT/ HZ) you can save patches, bass lines, chords and drum patterns to the card permanently. Only dilemma is that they are incredibly rare and comment good prices as a result. The CZ's the RA3/ RA6 ram cards btw.
I just repaired my HT-700 that wasn't saving. This page has the info you need. electro-music.com/forum/topic-50385.html I also wired up a 9v battery so I can save and play the HT with one 9v instead of 6 D batteries. Nice easy mod!
great demo! --- does yours save patches? I've had a couple from the series, that no longer do, I think there may be a battery or similar that dies after a few years and then it can't retain RAM

Still the best review of this cool little synth, great skills
You made this sound classy and jazzy: fantastic how amazing the ht sounds here.
Fantastic demo. I had one, sold it and purchased another on eBay a f years back. Lots of fun and you show it off wonderfully!
Excellent video, thanks for uploading! This was the first synth I ever bought, way back in 1988. Recently picked up an HZ600 off eBay.
For a 'toy keyboard' it is quite impressive and a lot of a synth, but it will not replace a real synth in depth of the sound in a mix. But I want one for use in my bedroom.
Але чому не замінить? Для любительських або напівпрофесійних груп думаю саме те.
I finally got the HT-6000 again. What a machine!!!
8 year follow up. Awesome!
One of my favorite synths.

Definitely gotta find one of these things. Sounds pretty sick even before adding effects post

+Robert Saint John John, would you say it is worth getting the ht 3000 over the ht 700? any discernible differences?

+Robert Saint John Thank you.
thanks for the Insiders!
Great demo
I had one, don't even remember what I did with it, but whatever it was, I'm now sorry. Would love have it back!
got one of these for nothing at a flea market, most people think they’re just selling a toy!

Thanks man. Re. the HT-6000, I hope to pick one up at some point - v. cool synth. I think I'd go there first, before a Juno 106...
u got some classic chick korea synth sounds over there
I have to get myself one of those. Casio is the best. :)

I was trying to watch but your busy baseline was driving me crazy

Xtra Spice Mikey yeah? Can you send a link to this mod, my ht 700 doesn’t store anything even with batteries in it

$50? Maybe for a broken one. I paid $100+ for a good one. Not pristine condition, but it works.
Great sounds from a very underrated synth! Are you British-American by any chance :)?
+KILLAGORILLA7000 Sunderland (England) born-and-bred. Now living in L.A. - more work here :->)

you need D batteries in the keyboard or all data you save is lost on power off, even better find a fabled ram card.
Kool features for a home keyboard, but i doubt if more than 1% of users bothered programming it.

Do you know if this synth works as midi controller using an Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1 and Reaper?
It will work, but it doesn't transmit Velocity, meaning all your notes are at the exact same volume/tone. Thanks for watching!
On dirait la musique d'UZEB!...J'avais le HZ-600 sd, les sons sont identiques. Je l'ai vendu et je le regrette...
quel dommage :-(
Awesome! So much cheesy sounds :P
