This album really told the world that Thomas wasn’t gonna just be only ever known as the son of Rhett Atkins. He found a sound and style that set him apart from his contemporaries and made him unique without being pretentious or trying too hard.

Never understand the hate modern country gets, I'm a 41 year old male grew up on the classics and this is flipping brilliant.
As a metal headbanging classic rock pot-smoking dude that discovered Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, the Stones, etc., doing high school and college throughout the 70's, I'll tell ya. My parents liked country. And they didn't like hippies, pot, or anything Dem or liberal. Country music was about getting drunk at the bar and crying about lost love...and it was Hee-haw and stupid and not about what was happening. And then came disco and fancy boys dancing around in platform shoes. While you may think country music was hated, and that "disco sucks", society was blaming rock for murders and psychos and communism and evil itself. Alice Cooper was going to destroy our way of life, mom said. As rock 'n roll became psychedelic and then rock, and then heavy metal, glam, punk, acid, speed metal, thrash, grunge, and rap, the rock standards from the late 60's on, have endured, and have been the channel markers, lighthouses, and beacons along the way that ask, and answer, the relevant questions in life that our elders couldn't...or didn't. That said, there's hope for country. Three years ago I left a corporate career to learn how to grow medical herb and start a collective, and I succeeded! (all legal here in SoCal) The only radio station that had good reception in the growroom was a country station out of Ventura, so my plants enjoyed it 24/7. I had to endure it 2 or 3 hours a day while I tended to changing reservoirs, feeding, cloning, pruning, harvesting, trimming, etc. Pretty soon I was singing along to the same 25 songs they repeated every day. Most of them I really liked; I could name the tune in 3 notes! I even told my friends that I had become a new fan of country music. Today's country music. Like this one. And Somewhere On A Beach. Even My Church. I still love Five Finger Death Punch doing Wash It All Away, but I also really like today's country. I think most "haters" would like it, too, if they gave it a chance. I wouldn't hold my breath on opera, though. Too weird.

I like it when artists reference other artists in their songs. Thomas Rhett does this in at least two that I can think of - in this song he mentions Guns N Roses, and in Unforgettable there's the line "that Coldplay song that you were singing."
I love this song so catchy! When ever I hear it on the radio I start to dance around to the music!
People laughing at his dancing obviously have never seen him in concert, and probably know nothing about his personality. Thomas is a huge goof and he's not trying to be serious in this video. He's having fun!
Also, this isn't traditional country, we get it! But you can't tell me any country artist these days (well, the ones that make it on the radio) represents old country! Yes, there are some country artists that have more twang in their songs and sound less "pop." But artists know that what sells nowadays are the singles that have a nice beat and are catchy.
If you want to hear more traditional country, stop looking for it in popular artists. Check out artists like Jon Pardi, Jon Langston, etc. Great music and they keep it country! But don't hate on the bigger artists because they know what sells!
