She got so tired by trying to give to people who didn't appreciate until she found someone who got satisfied by helping her, taking away all her misery, her sadness and disappointment.

The boy was desperately thirsty, and the girl wanted to be useful, and wanted nothing but to give. The apples were a symbolism for purity rotting away, meaning that her views on society became more harsh and realistic. The bad water a symbolism of the bad in the world, meaning that the boy was so desperate that he tried to find satisfaction in whatever that was left. The girl's blue tears was like a sign of hope for the boy to find purity in the world, even if it meant that what was still pure was broken and sad. The girl who saw nothing but good in the world was only happy to help the boy see that the world isn't all that bad, meanwhile the boy gave her a sense of hope, showing her that the world is not always rainbow and sunshine, but in fact that the little things in life that are pure is what makes her so special. Although they split ways, they are both still stained with each other and that symbolizes the impact that was heavily made on the two, and that it's not that they needed each other but rather for those quick moments, they appreciated each other and pulled each other back up to their feet in order to continue with their lives as stronger individuals.

Time Lie probably
リンゴの赤は情熱の色。最初の涙の青は悲しみの色。黒い水はあらゆる色を飲み込んで黒にする色。つまり赤も青も飲み込まれたら無くなってしまう色。あらゆる色を無にする色。白はあらゆる色を受け入れる色。黒を薄めることの出来る色。
情熱は大人達に見向きもされないことで腐り果て、腐って黒ずんだ情熱は大人にとって害ですらあった。自分が愛した情熱が誰にも見向きされないまま全て腐り果てたことに、少女のその瞳からは悲しみの青が溢れる。少年は自分もまた黒に染まることを受け入れようとしていた。黒く染まってしまえばもう赤や青やその他の色に渇いたりはせずに済む。しかし心はそれを拒絶する。そして出会った少女の悲しみの青を飲み干す(悲しみを癒す、受け入れる)ことが少年の渇きを潤した。少女は安堵し白い涙を流す。少女は空になったバスケットを拾って笑顔で歩き出す。少年はそんな少女を憂いげに見送り歩き出す。少女は空のバスケットに今度はどんな鮮やかな色を詰めるのだろう。少年は今度はどんな色と出会うのだろう。また同じような悲しみに暮れるかも知れない。また同じような渇きに苦しむかも知れない。彼らがどうなるかは誰にもわからない。
あの大人達は、きっと少年と少女のように認め合える相手に出会えず、あるいは出会ってもまた渇いてしまい、水道から出る黒い水を飲み続けてしまったんだろうね。何度も何度も吐きながら、誰かと繋がりたい、誰かと愛し合いたい、誰かと分かち合いたいと求めながら。きっと彼らもすごく辛かっただろうね。悲しかっただろう。苦しかっただろう。誰がそんな彼らを責められるだろう。誰もなりたくてああなる訳じゃない。誰が悪いって訳じゃない。ただちょっと社会のシステムに歪みが出てしまっているだけ。今にも壊れそうに軋んでいるだけ。ただそれだけなのに、どうしてこんなに解決するのが難しいのだろうね。どうしてこんなに重くのし掛かってくるのだろうね。

水とか大人の描写からは、「工場化が進んで汚れた街」みたいに具体的な解釈もできるし、他の人が言ってるみたいにリンゴのように色のついたものを個性と捉えれば抽象的な解釈もできる。すごい作品だなぁ…

I think the girl's apples were her "hope". The people in the city didnt care about her so before she even knew it, her hope started to rot away, though she still tried to smile. She gave a rotten apple to a stranger and discovered that she didn't have hope after all, and that discovery led to despair, where she dashed her hope upon the ground and cried tears, stained blue. The guy came and noticed her and comforted her, accepting her sadness and those tears became altered, tears of the fact that someone finally took notice of her. They became clear. And then she picked up her basket, and though it was empty it meant that she was ready to try and hope again. As for the boy, he couldn't find any water out in the wild, but as for the city, there was none or what little there was was tainted. Nothing is free and what's free is crap. When he finally found water, it was created from the sufferings of another, but when that other cried clean pure tears, he couldn't take those. Something to think about...

53秒位の短いアニメーションかと思った、
いや、美男美女すぎん？！
Well, here's how I see it.
so the boy's thirsty, right? and the girl is trying to give away her apples, but no one wants them. she tries to help all the 'zombies' and i believe the apples would've brought them back to a normal state. but as she fails to give them away, she gets attacked for trying to help (while the rotting apples represent her hope of helping others) and she loses all hope. she's now feeling useless and hopeless, completely without will to move on (the apples were rotten completely). but then the boy! he desperately tries to find his water (the source for his survival, because he can't go on like that either) and he tries to survive by drinking the oil (and the oil means lousy and foul people, faking to be friends) but he fails and falls down, completely giving up. but as the water reaches him, he sees a bit of hope and finds the broken girl. she notices him, but knows she's of no use, since no one wanted her help. but then the boy shows to her that she is indeed needed and he drinks her tears, who are actually the one thing she never though others would need. her tears represent comfort and understanding. the boy drinks them and she finally realises she was of some use after all and that's how she breaks down and cries her true tears, both from sadness and happiness, figuring out she was needed all along, but feeling sad because she was on the edge before. if she had not started crying, she wouldn't have helped the boy. the boy then hugs her, showing to her that he cares and thanking her for her existance. in the end she smiles to him in a sign of thank you, and he does the same.
That's how I saw it the first time I watched. :) Truly beautiful, hats down

everything except the water seemed like blue paint at first, and it seemed like he was taking away her pain by drinking the blue paint, then she cried real water tears of joy. idk tho it looked like paint and water at the same time.
Then the girl got friendzoned and there we have one of the most nonsense endings of all time, i mean, they seem homeless and both needed help, destiny gathered them to complement each other and then they depart? WTF?

This is WOW beautiful!!! They were complete strangers & yet he treated her in such a loving way. She was watching him to see how he would react to her pain, but he just drank her sorrow away. I think her crystal tears were tears of joy! This beautifully shows how sometimes through love & kindness even a stranger can heal a broken heart. ^x^

色あるものは、もとの色を覆い隠し、己に置き換えてしまうけど、白は次にどんな色にでも出来る寛容さがある。

It appears very Buddhist. The girl is acting as a bodhisattva, the acts she performs are similar to miracles attributed to such saints. The boy helps her by accepting her aid, and is in turn, aided by her; however, one cannot remain simply in the embrace of a teacher, so they have to part and continue their respective paths through life and the world. The world of humankind is depicted as toxic, violent, false, and suffering. Water, a symbol of life, grace, and the subconscious/spiritual realm here is depicted as the boy's thirst, (lacking it) the cities black water, (toxic/poisoned) and the girl's tears, (life giving, redeeming). The apples are symbolic of similar things: life, dreams, compassion, they rot and are rejected by the city dwellers because all who hate life love death.

Humanity is not toxic, merely lost for the currents of circumstance have laid the mountains barren, though you may not see the kindness of a heart often it is a Bodhisattva's place to bring it forth. For those who walk by and make children smile and animals rejoice, those are they who have found their center and have abandoned their ship in exchange for walking on the waves. Miracles are in the eyes of the beholder, a simple hug that makes one's day brighter even when all else was dark is a miracle, a simple I love you from a mother or father that makes their children smile is a miracle and an act of compassion for a complete stranger should not be a miracle in of itself but a common act, but is all the same a miracle. We live the now and ever circle, awakening and going to sleep but there comes a day when we never go to sleep again and always remain fully awake, when we show compassion and love not as a rare miracle but as a common miracle we show a window into our brightest light and dispel the most bleak of woes.

I think this has a message of give and take needing and being needed. when you need something, sometimes you can't find it for yourself, but can find in others. it seems the boy needing water represented something a little more; while the girl, is a giving person. no one is necessarily saying she's selling those apples. I took it as she wanted to give them away. she wanted to provide for someone, but no one was taking. As a the kind of person who wants to be needed, to help, that made her breakdown. when they found each other, they both got what they wanted, the girl was able to provide for someone, and a caring heart, someone who would hold her. the boy of course getting the water he needed, but he also stayed to comfort her. that's just me though. going their separate ways, each bettered themselves and were able to face their futures with a smile

この世界は生きにくいし美しくないけど、一瞬の確かな愛のある行為でこの二人が救われて見てきた世界に希望を持ったのかな
彼女が悲しんでたから少年は気付けたし、誰にも自分を(リンゴ)受け入れてくれなかった彼女の涙を舐めてあげることで(飲む)、初めて誰かに求められた彼女が心から救われてるのがいいな
少年もずっとさ迷って都会に入ってもなお苦しかったから(喉乾いてたから)、彼女の存在が無かったらと思うとこの出会いが感動する
痛みを分かち合える存在って大事だよね。

Also, them leaving each other now doesn't mean that it's forever separated.
I think the moral of the story is that we feed off of each others emotions. The apples represented hope for the girl, but then she started to lose the hope and began to cry tears of pain and sorrow. These tears helped feed the boy, and he used her pain to be strengthened. After she realizes that her situation benefitted someone else, she feels better and cries tears of happiness. Moral: we can be strengthened by others weaknesses.
