Many happy memories. The Dark Elf Executioner champion on the cover still great now. Love that guy. The cursed company...i dont why GW never did more with skellies from other races. I used to use the Dwarf as a...(drumroll) Wight Dwarf!
The Tomb scorpian was great, it was indeed dreadfull. Dreadfull to glue together. Teeny tiny little joints that didnt have the surface area to hold the legs that held up a fairly big chunk of metal.
Wight Dwarf. Ha! We'll have to use that for something down the road.
@@oldhammered I am allowed one moment of genius per decade, that was it for the 2000's! lol
this was my peak era, cheer's for the trip down memory lane
How have I not seen Diehard Miniatures before now?! Thank you for that (and my wallet curses you!).
what a treat. I used to own that catalogue and I'm lucky enough to still have the cauldron, carrion, scorpion, and some of the cursed company, so a good chunk of your spooky list. i remember flipping through that book was so fun because there was just so much that i would never see even a whiff of in my flgs. thanks for the nostalgia blast
This is great. Such nostalgia. I was in the hobby from '99 to '04 ish so this is my jam. Came back with the introduction of 9th edition only to find everything had turned to S: the lore, the rules, the minis, the atmosphere in the stores, the publications, the whole entire way the corporation does business... I hate it. But this is great, keep these videos coming mate.
There really needs to be an initiative to 3D scan all these old miniatures for 3D printing before they get lost and forgotten. I'd do it but I'm extremely lazy.
I was thinking, GW should do it (or just create new masters from the old molds, if they still exist) and release the minis as PODs. Of course, they're probably worried it would savage sales of their current lines, but I don't think the target markets are the same - it would just be extra money for them, a way to tap into the Oldhammer market that I'm sure they at least have an eye on.
@@gamewerx2463 I wouldn't count on GW to do anything.
Many terrific minis! Thanks for sharing!
As far as I'm aware thevstatue on the old Couldron of Blood Dark Elf model was supposed to be a representation of the Elves' murder god Khaine . I really like that model too. It's from when the Dark Elves really started to come in to their own. Great days in the hobby! And as the voice suggests , these catalogues were great fun for flicking through and planning what to get next.
What I would do for some of those miniatures. Great video mate!
Those old catalogs were great. But as the Bard would say, we’ll never see there like again.
Those golden days are long gone.
Except, multiple communities online have them, and every single citadel/GW catalogue back into the 1980's scanned to pdf's and available to dl if you dig hard enough online.
I know what you mean in 6terms of the actual catalogues but you need to remember that even mid-2000's, the internet was nowhere near the daily use beast it has become today.
i remember the fen-beast being part of a Warhammer fantasy campaing in which every army could use fen-beasts as allies. And i have 3 of them since then
Great vid, thanks! I'd already dropped out of the hobby many years before this (93/4) so it's great seeing what was going on while I was otherwise occupied! It's also funny to see how long so many of these models lasted - lots of the 40K stuff was still on the shelves in 2019 when I reignited my hobby interest again, and I picked up the dual axe wielding Beastman Champion that's on the cover from my local GW store last year!
Wow Oldhammer you helped my identify a couple models in a collection I trade for years back. One is made of Albion Fen Beast parts. The other is the thing in woods!
1000 pages! Wowza! I might have seen this book in person in '04-'05. Ah, those were my 40k times. 3rd-4th Ed.
I miss those days of buying individual bits out of the catalog.
Still got some of those familiars. Armored Imp, walking book, Mystery, lune and oddly enough a tiny genestealer? :)
Just getting back into Warrhammer after around a near 30 year hiatus. Sometimes i remember some of the characters that dont exist anymore. Some quite cool like Squats, and some not so cool like Zoats, which had some kind of affiliation with Tyranids and Genestealers. I think even a form of Hafling was in the 40K universe (if my memory serves me correctly, i could be wrong.). It was so much more on the fun, comedic side in them days, unlike modern 40K armies that are much more serious and dark now.
Yes, halflings in 40K are called ratlings and are known as chefs, thieves, and snipers.
It's not really the Hound of the Baskervilles, more of the Beast of Gevoudan.
I had the idea in mind to write a short inquisition fan story. Thanks for the inspiration !
A blood-filled cauldron surrounded by cannibalistic demons that have gleefully sold their immortal souls is "a-okay"...but we all need fear/beware those 25mm demonette boobies!
They're actually closer to 10mm because she's so tiny. But yes, I'm aware of the absurdity of it all.
I recall the 6th edition cauldron of blood being pretty useless. Took up a rare slot, the buffs were very specific and not that great, also Couldn't move and was rather easy to eliminate by shooters. Unlike the dwarf anvil it offered almost no protection for the crew, if I remember correctly.
I think I still have the Witch Elf crew without the cauldron, lying around somewhere unpainted. From back in the day when you could order parts of a set separately. =/
that is some fun miniature stuff.
Loved the cursed company back in the day, very inclusive😂
that was fun, thanks!
Stilling waiting for ny damn new ratling models.
New warpfires should already be here. All they need to do is bring back the island of blood mold.
yes fun all hek and the falmayers got all and that one yes bit non PC the colden of blod one like do with my vamiper of but never got it yes my vamiper comts army neat how it ALLLLLLL GLOWS in DARK think this 1000 of minis all glowing well i just stop and see the nest vid have a golish good night or will youz ???
Hands down, there is something about the Mordheim stagecoach in that catalog that gets me roll'en. The model of the cloaked, hooded guy with the rifle is pretty cool.
If you like the Fenbeast you should check out the even older Citadel Shambling Mound model from the 80s. I'm very happy to have both in my unit of Beasts of Nurgle.
I love this catalogue. I dropped out of the hobby in mid 2005 before taking what would become a 12 year break, so this is a fantastic time capsule of the few years that I spent in the hobby up until that point.
I was working at an independent hobby store at the time this catalogue was released. It included the then-current metal Possessed for 40K which everyone thought were awful. One day we had an official GW store event and a few GW guys from the Glen Burnie HQ came to help run it. A few of them had helped on the catalogue. Those metal Possessed happened to come up in conversation and they mentioned they had been really tempted to "accidentally" forget to include them.
And now look at the dancin' plastic wolfen! XD
Time fly fast. I remember like it was just several years ago
That blood cauldron looks like a toilet.
I dig the 2004 version because of the giant ****Stares at witches****.....Statue...yes the giant statue.
Painted up some Cursed Company recently and they are a treat! Now I want that skeleton Rat Ogre as well!
I have a Cursed Company styled frostgrave warband, a massive hobby flex
I remember this f-off massive book sitting on the front desk of the GW store I frequented then. The store staff used it as a reference for looking up purchases for customers.
Awesome! I had mine out last night looking for Baal Predator bit.
So hard to believe that this was almost 20 years ago...
A Sears catalog for wargamers!
Loved the video.
COOOOOOL
No VC?! BOOOOOOOOOO!
Great video, thanks for sharing this. If you feel like doing more videos like this one with different themes, that would be awesome!
Also, if any of you have a 3d printer, avatars of war do some really cool old hammer minis, highly recommend
Great video, didnt know this catalog exsisted.. What a amazing old reference. I like the addition of the noises.
I really enjoyed that version of the carrion. It would have been cool if they still had riders as well!
I had no idea this even existed... There are simply too many to to pick, they all have some personality.
while Diehard is great, his are pricey too.
But available
