Too think the soundtrack was created on a Yamaha YM2612 chip with only 6 channels! The amount of creativity that went into this to create a multi-layered music from such basic tech back in the days is amazing, a lot of passion went into it to make sure the sound was right, meaning less mistakes, a deliberate sound and no wasted noise. Which is why it sounds so distinct and polished, now days you can fluff your tracks up with ambient noises and it all bleeds into each other.

'Mutant' is a kind of sound I've been trying to put together. It's sort of Acid House meets Trance. Now that you mention it, I could perhaps put 8 Bit SBZ in a Part 2 to this mix I hope to eventually do.
Wish it just had a bit more thump at the lower frequencies too. One instrument sounds too low to me, but I love the way all the instrument sounds have been reimagined/captured so clearly and still represent the original theme really well

Apologies for the late reply. I found this comment a bit overwhelming, but will do my best to answer. "Expander" is a track I hope to eventually do. It doesn't quite have enough going on, on its own, so I would probably incorporate other SOR themes. I've had the idea to maybe include Spin On The Bridge and the SOR3 Boss theme (the one used on the twins and Robot Axel). As for SOR4, I haven't seen any confirmation of Jet, but Electra seems to have an electrified snake-whip, judging from the trailer? Seems a bit weird. The latest info is that the game will release between January and June this year, and Adam was also confirmed as a playable character not too long ago. :) He's my favourite. I will probably get SOR4 for Steam as I have no interest in the current consoles.

SOR 2 soundtrack really is a musical masterpiece that was ahead of its time. Remixes like these just enhance The Legacy and Genius.
