Found unexpected tutorial on expected tutorial. Came her to see how to make stroke, but ended (now) having knowledge of the power of pencil tools. I've doing it wrong for past 7 years.... You don't know how thankfull I am toward you....
I can't believe how much time you just saved me in only half of your instructional video. Thank you so much. I'm going to finish this video now and you, amazing teacher, have a new subscriber.
You’re a great teacher, thank you for laying out every single step. I can’t tell you how many design I have unfinished because the video I watched left out one little detail that might be obvious to someone that knows illustrator but not known to someone that’s learning.
Just a little appreciation comment. Your clear and concise with your tutorials and I always reference back to your videos. Thanking you for helping Teela in my designing skills
hey Teela first of all ur like my saviour...ok m an amateur freelance graphic designer n most of my clients hav been my cousin sisters ,my female friends n basically girls n m very thankful that u exist ..i watch ur videos for inspirations n well sorry try to do it like urs n they really like it...btw i dont exactly copy urs but ur like my biggest inspiration ...thanks n ive recommended loads of new designers in India about ur channel...all d best n thank u ...
Thank you! It worked. You have taught me so much over many years with procreate and now I'm back learning illustrator. I used this lesson but choose to create my motif all in illustrator. Starting with a straight vector line made it easy to match up and I still used your tip on making the line taller than the first motif after my perfectly spaced lined-up try didn't work. I learned, always listen to the teacher:)
I learned how to use this program in school, but have since forgotten most of the techniques lol. I love your vids and how you show how to make things that are pretty trendy and simple. Thank you :)
Wow this program gets better and better. Just found your channel, going to watch this (and your others - you have a bunch!) soon as I get a moment! Thank you in advance for putting these tutorials together!
A fantastic tutorial, really well explained, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I never knew the pencil tool did that, i've being doing things manually it saved so much time. Two tutorials for the price of one! Thanks Teela
very cool I can see so many possibilities with this. I drew something and then went over it with the pen tool and then did this and it worked really well. Good explanation
Great tutorial! If I want my design in color can I add it after or does it have to be in color first? I've tried adding color but it is not working. Can I use the gradient tool as well?
Pretty spot on, though, I was wondering why you didn't just C the left and right side top to bottom, ruler out, align bottom verts with top, cleanup. I totally get if it's just habit though, I'm still running blender 2.49b, which is 7+ yrs old. Old habits die hard. Thanks for refreshing my noggin.
Very nice, thank you. I'm assuming i can then Convert the path to a shape, or Expand it so that i can snip parts off, or manipulate it further? Also, can you use the Variable Line tool, to make one end larger and the other end narrowing to a 'point?'
Great tutorial. The iPad app Procreate is great for making doodles with the Apple Pencil . Will work great for this. Just an alternative to paper and pen.
I followed everything until 7:53, where you create the rectangle and then hit "Divide" button - everything else disappears except for the dots and the rectangle (the stems disappear). It does not separate the top stem from the rectangle. What did I do wrong?
Is there a way to specify the spacing on these? I use illustrator to make leather patterns. These patterns need stitching holes. It would be incredibly useful to create brushes with the correct punch hole spacing that could be applied to any line or pattern.
very good tutorial....i'll start making a leafy pattern right now.....Also people...don't forget to save the pattern brush so you can open it again and use it in other documents.
Thanks a lot!!! I just did a footprint brush with your tutorial =) since my pattern is not attached to anything vertical, thus having blank spaces between each "foot", is there a workaround with the corner options??? I tried them all and they ALL look horrible, ended up leaving them blank but I would love it if my "feet" turned a little on their own axis just in the corner.
This is the second video from your channel that I'm watching and I already learned so much! Really useful stuff and you are a great teacher :) Keep up the good work cause I'm following! P.S. yesterday I made a mandala made of bees thanks to your "How to Repeat Any Shape Along a Circular Path" tutorial :)
Hi Teela, thank you for the great tutorials you're making. I have the same question as Kasey Strong asked a few days ago. I can make the brush, use the settings you say, but when I try it on a circle it distorts. The ones inside the circle are less wide and the ones outside the circle are bigger and wider. What did I do wrong?
Excellent tutorial! When I tried creating a heart as a pattern, applying it to a circle or a curved line results to the shape (heart) getting a little distorted. Is it possible to not have that happen? Thanks for what you do!
Hi Teela, thanx for sharing this tutorial. I made my own pattern brush as you showed, but at the next illustrator opening, my patterns were disappear.. what I made wrong? thanks again
@Vicasso Fourie Brushes are saved with the file not within illustrator, so you always have to copy an element that has your brush applied from the original file to a new file.
I have been using a vector path that I have created, in illustrator. At times I am able to apply a pattern brush with no issues. But their are times it would act funky, when I applied a new pattern to the vector path but it doesn’t show up. Is there a reason why does the pattern brush doesn’t appear on a vector path at times????
excellent tutorial!
however, if you only want to know how to convert your pattern in to seamless brush, skip to 12:50
Thank you
doing the lords work
thank you so much
I came to write just that :-D
thank you

Can we use this brushes for procreate?

I’ve done leather punching yes this could easily be done

Very interesting and useful. Thank you!
Thank you, Teela! Do you have any tutorial on how to change a pattern brush colour?
Hi Teela, may I know why when I press divide in the pathfinder I end up losing the stem instead of the rectangle?
I like this very much!
Terrific! Exactly what I wanted to know
Awesome and powerful stuff!
+Samy Wajsblat Thanks for watching!
Do you have one of this process videos for Procreate?

Curious - what if I wanted to modify one of my existing brushes? Do I need to start over?
thank you so much for posting this, very helpful. it's probably one of the friendliest tutorials I've seen. you are a very good teacher :-) kudos!

Thank you for a great tutorial, Teela! I really love your tutorials!

Is there a way I can add texture to this? Like water colour or gold foil? I tried doing it the way you taught with text but it doesn't work.
