Thank you Kevin. What a coincidence. I just purchased my Starlink gen 3. I’m considering Flagpole Buddy’s gen 3 set up (about $230). But your DIY video is making me reconsider. I never thought about leaving the pole on the ladder rack while traveling, which solves issue of storing the long pole.
Bravo Kevin. This was a thinking man’s solution, very nicely executed. No “close enough” or “good enough” on this job. I admire work done at a high level in a workmanlike manner. No excuses offered because there were none needed. Lots of good ideas here. Congratulations. Well done.
Wow, Wow, Wow. ... Just wonderful Kevin!! I had just bought the same Harbor Freight pole and was curious how others have used it with Gen 3 SL on motorhomes. You nailed it for me and saved me so much time. You have an engineers mind man! Thank you SO much!
Nicely done. Thank you for this. Gotta mention, that “love tap” hammer has some serious character to it. The patina and shape tells me it’s seen some persuasive moments in its day!
Every thing in this video is spot on. As I was doing mine in the convenience of my home garage, I used a dremel tool ("did we tell you it cuts?") to clean up the reaming of the plastic bushing at the top. Also, if you're thinking of using more than the top three poles, you will need longer PTO pins. Thanks Kevin!
Thank you for this video! Just got done doing this setup except my flagpole is going in a flag pole hitch receiver since I can’t have a ladder on my travel trailer. Thanks again!
Nice tutorial. Where do you have the modem? I put mine in the storage bay set up for a tv. Not sure if this location is causing a very slight buffering of the WiFi.
This is awesome, thanks. I wonder how many people use the pole with the vehicle/tire weight held stand and then forget to break it down and drive off!! Hahaha. I'm old so I'm sure that would happen eventually. Read that Gen4 is the US-only one now. These things are worse than buying a mobile phone. By the time FedEx shows up, your model is the old one.
I'm an aussie and I'm always amazed at the gear available if the US for doing stuff around an RV. I've just had the Gen 3 delivered and I bought one of the small pole mounts with less than great success. I have a couple of questions - firstly how do you rotate the dish to align in with the satellite when setting up at a new site and related to that, when I tried mounting the dish on a flagpole type arrangement SL advised that the angle of the dish was incorrect and it couldn't connect the SL dish. Did you have similar problems and if so how did you deal with these?
Kevin, I am impressed with the speed, I don't get close to that 3 foot from my modem. I have that same type flag pole in my yard and I have to spray a lubricant at the locking sleeves or very hard to slide and twist to unlock. What kind of speed were you getting when just on the table. Great job..
We have our antenna on the base it came with on the ground. I dont think that there is any advantage of having the antenna any higher than the roof of the RV.
@@ktoutdoor Nice to see a $125 plan, I dont think we had that choice when we got ours. It sure was nice to have pretty much guaranteed internet last winter, especially in places where other years we had good Verizon signal, but no bandwidth. I have seen some youtube videos of people permanently mounting their Generation 3 antennas directly to the roof of their RVs.

Nice looking setup

@HowRay Thank you for the kind words, my friend.

Thanks for watching, I love that hammer

This is a real learning channel. Please don't start selling RV mattresses. 😉Thank you.
I promise,, lol
Excellent tutorial.
Great video and thanks for the links. Will give it a shot this weekend.
You sure figure thangs out before anyone else even trys .
I may try this method on the semi just got my Starlink today thanks for video
Loving ours. We have used 400 gb so far this month. Thanks for watching
Great video, I have starlink at the house, before starlink all that was available was DSL, I am a believer in it. Great speeds and reliability.
Thank you for this video! Just got done doing this setup except my flagpole is going in a flag pole hitch receiver since I can’t have a ladder on my travel trailer. Thanks again!
Thanks!! How do you align the antenna using the starlink app? Do you twist the whole pole? Any problems with alignment? Thanks again 🙏🏻
@cwfain no problem at all. Just loosen the locking screw and the base of the holder. Rotate the pole and watch your phone app. To lock it in place.
@@ktoutdoor thank you! 🙏🏻
Thanks for helpful update
Great solution!

I'm still working on a solution for my location also.
Good video. The 'little ball' on the top of a flagpole is called a truck.
Thanks for letting me know
This is good information, thanks!

I just loosen the wing nut at the bottom and rotate , no angle problems at all . i used the app on my phone.
Another great DIY addon. Back in the day... a phone and a cell phone antenna. 🙄
I will add this to my Kevin's "How To" videos on Oemy's.
It sure does perform well for us.

Best I saw on table was 250 down
Was thinking you had made a mouthing for a vice on your mh that
You could use
Good idea
I welded a vice to a 2” box tubing that I can insert in my MH towing hitch.
Thanks!!!

what size stepper bit
1/4. To 1 - 3/8 amzn.to/3VCMt3c
Is there any monthly fee? Subscription?
I believe that the equipment is about $600 plus $150 per month for a monthly subscription.
125.00 or 150.00 per month depends on plan you choose + unlimited. we have used 163 gb in 13 days

The ROAM plan (currently $150/mo) can be paused month-to-month.
@@sierradk That is what we have, and that is what we have done since we dont need Starlink in the summer.
A real pain in the ass to remove the dish every time you move I’d really like to have a machine screw to secure it
I all ready made the upgrade to a metal screw with a wing nut on it. Its good and tight now.
