So then why did they detune the engine in the Tacoma?
The engine is detuned on the manual transmissions due to them being unable to control the initial full open throttle electronically like they can on the automatic. The Care Care Nut's "Driving The 2024 Toyota Tacoma Off Road | Answering Important Questions" video interviewing the assistant chief engineer talks about this
@@chibbyylol yeah....dump the clutch and BOOM!!! "hey guys let's turn this down a bit because this transmission is NOT capable to handle that"......simple as that! 92% profit did this to Toyota! Goodbye forever with that Mexican made turd and FRONTIER here we go!
@@All-Miles-Matter hmm maybe. Frontier is rated fairly low on CR least reliable vehicles with transmission and electronics
The T24A-FTS is detuned for trim purposes... just the V35A-FTS depending on whatever trim they'll be more or less power... the Manual tacom is considered a "low" trim. The LX600 gets more power than the GX550, LS500 etc etc... different ways to sell the same cow 🐄
Because they're glass transmissions that shatter like glass under normal conditions. Junk, period.
I have the 2024 manual transmission TRD sport with over 3k miles. It’s a great transmission and no problems so far!
i never did look in to why we in the USA cant get the HILUX truck. that thing is a literal tank. it is the truck that is known to be used for everything from daily to off road to fighting wars with a 50 cal mounted in the back seat. I think that they messed up a lot when they put it in the gas engine and program ed the computer to reduce the speed and torque causing it to heat up a lot unfortunately. even in the test drives of the prototype 24 tacos, every reviewer and drive reported that they ran hot and far more than they should. but that is not why they are failing and the reports are coming in about them failing. there are currently only 5-8 reports of the transmission failing and or over heating logged in to the NHTSA website (i always forget the proper acronym sorry) but it is not every single one of them like they are saying. you will always have some failures in any new vehicle be it the body, or the mechanics, then we fix it and move on from there and then improve it for the future! ( or at least we hope thats how it works anyways)
Good points……Keep Grinding!!!! 👍🏾✌🏾
I have same in my 2022 Australia model 2.8 diesel engine Hilux... bulletproof... previous one did 400,000km!
Absolutely no issues!
Thanks for the real world data! The prattle over here is that Tacoma has more power thus the RC60F can't handle it lol 😆
That was a great Fat Albert rendition lol 😂
Spot on and great video as always!
Thanks for your happy comment and support ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️
Thank you to all the "fan boys" for risking their credit scores for us, real toyota fans, that keep a truck for longer than 2 years can have a reliable model in the future.
Lol there's no risk. Toyota follows through with warranties.
Haha the number one complaint I hear is how much they cost and why is it broken. They are expensive and I'd never buy a brand new one myself. But thanks to them I can have a good used rig later haha.
You’re welcome. However I bought the 2024 manual Tacoma not because I’m a “fanboy.” I needed a new truck and I gave my old reliable 2006 Tundra (which I also bought new) to my son. This unbelievably reliable Tundra also had problems, BTW. It has 300k miles on it and I replaced the drive shaft twice, had a catastrophic lower ball joint failure (thankfully I was traveling slowly in a parking lot), and I had to replace the alternator. Even the best of vehicles will have issues, and I know that going into ANY model.
Not that the Hilux trans probably isn't strong enough, but there is also the difference in engine/trans RPM. Looking at it the Hilux makes 148hp at 3400rpm, while the Taco makes peak 270hp at 5400rpm. It is also interesting that Toyota lowered power/tq slightly in the manual. And according to Toyota site the manual Taco makes its torque 1,000 rpm later than the auto. No idea if we will see more transmission failures but owners shifting at 2k higher RPM is a pretty decent difference.
Unlikely the Taco owner at 50 miles or whatever it was redlined his transmission to death..lol... again a team engineers presumably matched the transmission to the load
Blah blah blah Toyota isn’t what it used to be blah blah blah 🙄
I love your common sense GX460
Thank you for your support 🙏 🙌 ❤️
On a side note. My manual Tacoma should be arriving this week 😆
Of course, when I saw that one TH-cam channel that is doing that for clout, I just laughed and shook my head. People are so gullible but when it comes to logic and perspective, they don’t get it. The world is a big place and the United States is not just the whole world ha ha ha ha ha ha
💯 exactly... it's just a tad disingenuous at best...
Yes! Really! People need to understand that we live on a Globe - smh!
😂😂😂😂 somebody send these videos to Untamed crying ass @GX460 OFF-Road is dropping GEMS .
Thank you for the ❤️ 🙏 🕊
Yes, people are waking up! Just use your noggin watch, @GX460 OFF- Rosd and, do some research ,and you're fine!
Oh, I know tell me about it. It’s rumored that because he kept buying and trading in vehicles. He’s so far in the hole you know it was bad when you buy $100,000 LX 600 and then trade it in three months later you are addicted to newand Toyota wouldn’t fly out to he got butt hurt over it
He does make some good points however...I wouldn't purchase a 2024 Tundra based on the issues that are occurring...I would prefer the 2023 Tacoma or GX460 @user-yn4cn3el5q
@@kurtbeck5809 I kind get that but at least the information is out there, GM still ain’t say shit about 6.2L V8 blowing up and what about Ford Ecoboost chewing up VVTI gears and ruining timing components? It’s been crickets and seem to be getting a pass
One changes gears to circumstance
If one is at high speed one doesn’t just randomly go from 5th to 3rd like that clown
One does so because the vehicle is out of its power band and the downshift is needed that guy just changed gear for the hell of it should have broken though
I would say faulty clutch and bad driving
The Masses: You can't handle the truth!
Mr GX 460 Off-road: You Rang!
Doesn’t look the transmission problems are widespread but they do exist. The real problem might be the terrible suspension. Toyota is absolutely experiencing more serious problems than other makes currently.
You are having to much fun😹😹😹
I still have not seen anything that’s says Toyota isn’t still the most reliable auto company by a long ways.
just to let you know though, this transmission is not only having issues reported with the manual, but also the auto version of it in the tacos. and they are stated as backordered status from toyota for a period of 6-9 months currently too.
The 8 speed auto is fine, the "problem complaints" are statistically irrelevant
Thanks. Toyota is no good.
In 3 days nobody said so I will. Your Fat Albert was outstanding.
🙏 ❤️ 🥲 Thank you... that truly means the world to me 😆
lmao
I have a manual transmission Tacoma 2022 and all the damn thing does is wheel hop if you try to burn out I let off as soon as it does cuz you're going to break something I'm sure but I've tried it from 29 PSI up to 37 PSI & same result I'm like fuck I'm not going to break my 🛻💨 I did the accumulator delete on the clutch system
4300km on my 24 manual. Love it
You’re right on that the owner, probably redlined or they missed a shift.that caused the transmission to fail probably caused by human error but they only produce so many manuals anyway previous generation , the 23 model they only made 9400 manuals transmissions this model year is probably less than that probably 5 to 7000 the first model year give or take 80,000 made this year
I’m going down to the dollar store and check it out…😂
Yes, the same channels also say it's the end of Toyota . Nothing but ridiculous click bait
toxic, fear-mongering unfortunately 😕
Some automatics have failed and I’m pretty sure it’s the programming from the factory that’s causing it, not the transmission itself cause it’s their global 8 speed from Asin which has been basically problem free outside of the 2018 Camry
Automatic failures are also statistically irrelevant here too and still anecdotal in nature... the NHTSA "complaints" are few. Again the 8 speed auto transmission is basically 8 years proven by now 😉 ❤️
the one in the 🤭Camry is a transverse transmission, a completely different design and size from the one feathered on Tacoma😓
@@oceanzu6585it’s an 8 speed asin in the Camry
And the transmission in the Tacoma is an 8 speed asin, yes one’s transverse and one’s longitudinal but it’s the same basic design
The 8 speed in the fucking Highlander/ grand highlander paired with the 2.4, is an 8 speed asin -.-
