No matter who I watch, there is none more mesmerizing than Blanka Slavic . . . she isn't here of course, but Anna Chicherova is, amazingly talented and beautiful. Perhaps the best contest I've ever seen was when Slavic and Cicherova were competing for the top spot, absolutely fantastic to watch the best in the sport go at it.
Chicherova is much older than the others but she remains in fantastic condition. She obviously loves high jumping. How many female high jumpers have cleared 2 meters at 36 years old? Have there been any others? Lasitskene is so consistent. She may not be quite as good as great high jumpers from the past, like Blanca Vlasic or Kostadinova, but she's been the best women's high jumper around for the last few years.
pukulu Maria already has more victories in competitions than Vlašić. Yes, Vlašic has a personal record of 2.08, and Maria has a 2.06. But Vlašić’s height is 1.93, while Maria’s is only 1.80.

Notwithstanding Anna's age she remains a favourite for next year's Olympics. If not already enjoying a carefully planned vegan diet such could secure her a further 1-2 cm. Carl Lewis only fully achieved his full potential after he made the switch. Likewise countless others.
I had an 8-step approach through college. Probably could (should?) have changed it to get more speed. it worked for 7' but i needed more speed to go higher.

So much of it is skill. Many of the competitors seemed to have the height, but were too close or too far away. Hitting it just right is the key.
