I have been thinking about your halyard wear situation. Now this may not be the solution, but maybe there is an idea here. Or maybe you have a solution already. You mentioned wear because the pulleys are pulling at an angle, is there such a pulley that can pivot within a mount or cage type structure, or even on a spindle, meaning the pulley should pull with the direction of the force/pressure? Just a thought, I have seen something like this before and sorry I don’t remember the exact application. Best of regards Adrian
The wear on the halyard is from the cleat. Rather than have it occupy a winch, we put in the constrictor. The load is at the mast, so pulleys aren't the problem. The pulleys we have do swivel and we have not had problems with them.
Sorry to waste your time following me up. I think I misread/misunderstood the challenge. The swivelling pulleys fox sounded too easy and it makes sense that for changing wind etc on a boat this would already be available. You keep sailing and putting out your videos and I will keep watching. Stay safe and Kind regards Adrian
My wife and I own an HH 55 named Ticket to Ride and we have lately been struggling with an appropriate downwind sail plan for our performance cat. Would it be possible to get some more details about your spinnnaker staysail, please. Where do you tack this sail in relation to the main downwind Code D?
The code D tack point is on the bowsprit, the genoa just inside the cross bar and the staysail aft of the genoa on the carbon fiber bar between the two trampolines. The track for the staysail is on the bridge deck. Check out Episodes 22 and 26 for more about sails. Thanks for watching!
Great episode.... very informative
I'm really enjoying these videos, thanks for keeping them coming!
Once a racer always a racer 😀. Tweaking for every fraction of a knot
Very interesting details. Thanks guys 👍🏻
