Those two decks look great together. I don't usually pull cards from two different tarot decks at the same time, but now I want to after watching this. Thanks for doing this comparison!
Loving your coordinated Wendy bags 💚 These decks kinda go together, interesting… TOV being the more empowered version of each card. Thanks for showing them side by side 🙏💚
I love the art of tarot of vampires that's a no brainer! I think it looks more like the classic gothic transylvania look about it. As beautiful as this deck is, I cant read with it. It doesnt fit my reading style. Ludy has more of a story to it and to me feels easier to read...not that Ive actually read with it for years, but if I did I would definitely get more out of it than tarot of vampires. Like you say tho it's out of print... an alternative to ludy and very much in print is the haunted house tarot or tarot of haunted house whatever it's called!!!! Its not unlike ludy in that theres a story in there. Just saying if anyone likes the ludy and maybe cant find a knock off. It's just another alternative. I cant think of an alternative to tarot of vamps it's a thing of it's own and it cant really be compared. Oh that 3 of cups I love that card...every time I hear it said or seen it written about this deck it just gives me "Bitter Joy" by Charon vibes .... "my heart is open - for you two, our love in sin, our bitter joy three of our hearts now tangled" it's a good deck for finding music references! 🤘😝🤘
heheh....I loved this! Hearing you open up a little to Ludy makes me happy. I have 4 vampire tarots. Nathalie Hertz Vampire tarot 2000, RM Places Vampire Tarot 2009, Tarot of Vampyres 2010 Ludy 2011 - I love them all. The NH Vampire is actually my favorite to use, it's semi illustrated pips and her style of artwork is a kind of exaggerated expression that just tickles me. I think RM Place is the best artist, and his deck addresses Vampire lore, and the pop icons that have schooled us (me for sure) from Hollywood and the books we all loved (up to nearly that date) and YES Ludy and Ian came out a little later, but close to the same time. I've also lived near, and spent a bunch of time in New Orleans. (I lived in southern Baton Rouge, and then Lafayette, but my Aunt, and Step Mom are New Orleans transplants) So. Here's the thing. Both decks have some really beautiful artwork, and some not so great artwork, but I actually like Ludy better as a cohesive story, and it's definitely New Orleans. I can tell you right now, Louisiana is stuck in the mire of patriarchal 1950's attitude/culture, and it's frustrating and painful...like the women in the deck, I would get so frustrated and angry. After a while, you just say, okay, if I'm gonna get anything done, I have to do it like this. Blech. (I had to move) Ian Daniels, was really doing TAROT. Some of the art frustrates me, but I imagine it was even more aggravating for him to do. I have thoroughly loved watching your meanderings with this deck, because you opened my eyes to things I hadn't seen. The snake/lady always bugged me. Now I understand a little better why she exists. I still hold NOLA in my heart, but I have to admit, it's in a nostalgic way...so Ludy will never leave my collection. I've spent the most time with Ian's deck, because I loved the study. NH Vampire deck is so much fun, she'll always be a friend, and RM Place's is just so cool, he's an icon what are you gonna do? Thank you thank you thank you. This video made my day.
I actually think the Tarot of Vampyres has more of a “male gaze” vibe than Ludy Lescot. I don’t know, I just feel an honesty in Ludy Lescot that I don’t feel in Tarot of Vampyres. As of now, that’s how I feel.
I can see that. Ludy Lescot is more from a "female" POV, it's just a dark and acquiescing POV. Whereas the male gaze of TOV (in my opinion) is coming from a "I don't know women that well, but I think they're cool" POV. ha! I don't know if that makes sense. TOV is more mythologizing women, whereas Ludy Lescot is women themselves accepting "their place" in society. But in both decks I can feel the POV of dudes present in the way they were depicted too. OMG, I'm Libra-ing over here (this is what happens when I check comments from my computer where I can more easily type long responses)!!
Does Mister Rock has a name? He's cute! 😊 I have to admit, I like Tarot of the Vampyres better on every cards and it IS already confronting to me... So, my choice is obvious. 😅 Thanks for the comparison, though!

@@MixtressRae Lol, yes that’s actually exactly how I see it too! Maybe because I’m a Libra too.

Man I like tarot of Vampyres better overall, but I wish I could swap a few cards from the other deck in.
