Hypothetically say I was lost and somehow stumble across your property would you shoot me.
Haha no. But I do have the means.
1st u would be trespassing! 2nd not to many people put up with that kindly.
@@hansd4861yup ! I second that from going up in the U.P. But MOST of us know not to do that ! And if your lost most people would be happy to help !
He’d probably put you to work helping on the new cabin build.
@@hansd4861 You are not trespassing just because you go on private property. And you're right, there are a lot of mentally unstable trigger happy people, who just want an excuse to shoot someone.
I don't know how you do Kyle. This is a full time lifestyle and we appreciate you taking the time to share it with the world!
He's awesome, calm and reserved for the future men his age.

I've been living this lifestyle from over 40 years. Kind of getting tired of all the work, and it is work.Thumbs up to everybody that lives this life style.😁
Do whatever your heart desires. I truly mean that
The work will keep you alive well beyond city dwellers.
What's the alternative? Communist city life full of cravings and perversions?!
Nothing like home !! I’ll do that work around the clock if I could get out of this AWFUL city !!!
A lot of people romanticize this lifestyle. You show the amount of work required. Glad the chickens are doing well
Keeping warm in subzero temps is easier if you are keeping active - in my late 20's, I worked in a grey iron foundry. On pouring days, I worked on the cupola loading crew. Never noticed the cold, was too busy pushing wheelbarrows of coke and pig iron to the loading platform for a couple of hours. You learn to adjust. The heat of summer was actually worse than the cold days of winter!
Grew up in an old farmhouse with an oil heater in the living room and a small woodburning stove in the kitchen. Cooked with propane. House was always cold in the morning before it got warmed up, folks turned the heat down to 60 at night. Worst was that first trip to the outhouse in the morning - it you were the first one, the seat was alway icy! I love my ranch house with central heat/AC - in my early 80's now - sometimes I look back on those childhood days with fondness, but would prefer not to relive them.
Yeah I’ll take the cold over the heat any day
I’m pretty sure you grew up in the U.P. - or sounds a lot like it !!!
@@leanneadams2549 - I grew up on a small farm in coulee country near Prairie du Chien. My dad grew up near Philips, WI in Price County in a log house on a cleared 1/4 section, no electricity or central heat or running water.
My grandfather called mickey Mouse boot Warmest thing in the world I live in Michigan3rd day they close down school today The temperature Was - 3° Wind speed 20 miles mph Real feel -21You're very smart young man Your mother and father did a good job
I love the Mickey Mouse boots. They are the warmest boots I’ve ever worn hands down. Water proof too.
I love this kind of cozy and peaceful days in winter, especially that wood stove.
Fine assortment of chickens.
Yeah, that red rooster is some handsome bird!
So you’re saying it’s cold…gotcha 👍
Thanks, Kyle!
You have no idea how much I appreciate your videos. I can watch them on my TV sometimes now. My best friend had his vacation in December, so got to get out of my apt., we drove down to Tenn, Got a 3 day pass to Dollywood. First time I had been anywhere since 1993. We took my wheel chair to get me around easier. See you all in your next video. Until then keep warm and take care. --TGG
Thanks Kyle!
It is all attitude, he loves it.
Love the videos and watch them everyday
Great way to live no shit just doing what you love
I just love Skeeter & Kitty ❤
Kyle I like the way you’re prepared for anything. you have your wood ready, You have your water you’re always checking on your chickens and you got the best dog ever Skeeter by your side.
It's Cold lol Thats life... just think the pioneers had nothing at some point. Grateful for how far we humans have come!
True that!
❤ World Class Egg Factory 🏆 🥚 🏆 🐓 🐔 I hear ya about the eggs freezing ... we made multiple trips to the coop especially in the frigid temps.
Thanks for the video Kyle.
Hi Kyle! Freezing here in Michigan too….stay safe my dear…..
Thanks for showing us a day in the life of rural rustic living.
You should make a broom for brushing of the snow Off your solar panels
A firewood sled “wood” be very useful!
Stay warm out there
You are a hard worker.
It’s so much work, but living like this is so nice because you never have to worry about the power going out and having no heat, lights or water. As long as you plan well and work hard, you have all you need.
Oh my so cold
Take care and stay safe all you
Good video to know how to survive in low temperatures
Glad you Cierra,Skeeter Kitty and chickens are OK
See you all in next video
❤❤❤❤
Awesome video! I really appreciate the multiple shots. I would love to live simply out there like that. Looks beautiful

always enjoy your vids thank you!!!!
The chicken looks happy in their warm house this year , ❤ skeeter .
Stay warm.
Greetings from North Central Wisconsin 👍
It is amazing how rewarding hard work can be, but being free to make life you want is everything. I like your matter of fact tone, you chose to live this way so you just do what needs to be done! Impressive!
Love you Videos old school building log home is cool!
Looks like a good day. Thanks.
When you question your equipment, but it starts like its name says it is "CHAMPION". Nice bro. haha
You know it’s cold when your boots squeak on the snow when you walk. I’ll bet the stars are amazing where you live. Your home looks warm and cozy. Stay safe and well. 🙋🏻♀️🇨🇦
You have a great dog.
I just love this! 😩
Psalm 139:14-15
King James Version
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Gods blessings over you and your familly.
😊enjoyed the video.
Good news Kyle. 30’s next week and no snow in the forecast!!!
Great job on building your cabins👍
-45f the last week. With out the windchill.
I have a wood stove in the house and shop. I sure burnt the wood last week. Warmed up quit a bit 3f during the day and -15f at night
Howdy Kyle, a couple of work-arounds on preheating your generator.....back in the 80s my dad and I lived off grid North of Fairbanks Alaska. -45F (still air temp) was a normal winter day. We built a little insulated "dog house" on skiis to house our little generator. An hour or so before we tried to crank it up, we'd light a Coleman lantern and put it in the box to preheat the old generator. (Same thing makes those -45F trips to the shitter more tolerable :)
These days they make the little suitcase generators (like the Honda 2200). Weighing in at less than 50 lb, they are easy enough to keep inside the cabin and carry it outside when needed.
And of course....use a low viscosity full synthetic oil.
One more bit of trivia - Wind Chill only effects the exposed parts of animals and people. Machines dont care about wind chill factor. They only "feel" the still air temp.
Like your video Kyle stay warm 👍🤩
looks like you're handling the cold like a pro. Would be nice to have more oak .
It’s cold here too.
So grateful for a warm home and a hot bowl of homemade soup!
When you get bored, start cooking with Cierra!😊
Keep going bro you got this 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤
Appreciate you posting a mix of daily life and your projects. We know it takes time so thanks you four and the chickens for sharing your life.
Lovely vlog 👍👌
Keep warm brother!
I just keep thinking how much wood you are going to need, to get through winter with your new forty foot cabin! Sometimes bigger isn't better.
sounds like two stoves to me! potentially solar power in the future to run some baseboard heaters or something similar.
Wondered the same, like having two stoves, need more wood, etc.
Could a pellet stove be an option? Not sure how much electricity it takes to run the auger. Pellets aren’t free like cutting your own wood, but could be an addition.
Kyle I said it before and I'll say it again you are a Tank!!
The sun ain't got nothing on yr future as far as Shining non stop!!❤. Sup skeeter. That boy is another devoted soul
I had a gray cat I called him Skeeeet.
Looks great! I hope to head to Ely next year to do some dog sledding….bucket list 🤗
Your beloved chickens look SO happy and healthy. You have come a very long way since your channel started. Love it!
The snow sounds cold ! Hello again from Anoka County
Livin the dreamm
It may be hard work however, it’s freedom 👍🏽
Great informative video
Missouri even got below zero 😮. Weird for us though. Stay warm Kyle
Use the deep liter method. Keep adding shavings on top once a week through summer. The natural decomposition will create heat throughout the winter to raise the temperature.
Hi! Cold here in New York but not as cold where you are…stay warm!
Thanks
You are so right about what to ware out in the cold , stay warm Kyle
Cold here in Iowa to.
truly amazing man
Thanks for sharing Kyle 👍 😊 😀 it's cold like that here in Scarborough Canada . Stay warm friend 😊
Nice job partner. Really appreciate all the little nuisances that go into it at that time of year. Glad ya have a good dog.
Nice video about your off grid life! It's good that your well has not frozen! I'll bet the well has been a life changing uograde for you guys! Yes, the animal care takes extra effort in the winter, but as you said, the wild animals are out in the cold, and they are surviving. Hope it warms up for you so you can work on the new cabin! 😊
Will be 73 this month and have been burning wood at my home for 43 years . Another 20 years when I lived with my folks . Never have to worry about power outages and you can not beat the feel of wood heat . Use a soapstone stove and you get heat for up to four hours after the fire dies . Not a slave to my stove . Have embers in the morning when I wake -just add wood . House has electric back-up if I leave for a period of time . Have six solar and two honda gas generators . One is new in the living room if the 5000 in the shed dies .
Food for over one year .
First aid kit
ammo/guns
Tools and parts to repair vehicles
Milwaukee battery tool line up about 7 tools
Just purchased a geiger counter -need to know when it will be safe to walk outside if we get hit . Nothing worst than guessing if its safe- would drive me crazy . Once it passes back to normal living . Thought I had all the preps but no geiger counter- safe now -hope I never have to use it (insurance ) Boy wish I had one of those if we get attacked .
Never done prepping- thought I had it all .
I’m a sub and enjoy your unvarnished videos of life up north in Minnesota. I was born and raised there so I’m well aware of the winter experience. I’m amazed that eggs explode in the sub zero temps, I never wintered on a farm. Can’t understand why there is ice on you stash but I can’t see your breath. That outhouse has got to be a rude awakening on a winter morning too. Hope the snap is over soon so we can get back to your build series. Looks great so far. Thanks for the entertainment from my toasty recliner across the border in Prescott, Wisconsin overlooking the frozen Mississippi.
Watching from South Florida.
Brother, that’s COLD!
You are definitely Tuff. Stay warm my Friend…
It was only for a few seconds but when the stars are out I know awesome that is to view. And you want to take a pic or show that but oh well. Cheers.
Another good one Kyle, thank you. Where's your woman?
Always enjoy your videos.
only feel cold when you stop moving or sweat dries & then it's like BRR need to move again!
stay cozy,
Where’s Sierra these days?
Yes I keep my hens in side when I have a foot of snow like today, I don t use heat for them ,
The worst is over for us here in Northeast Iowa - We had -41 wind chills the other day/night but today, we're sitting at a balmy -8 and light wind! Talking 32 for next Monday!
Mighty chilly, glad you are young & healthy to face the rigors of the deep cold living life your way.
grew up in a house with a wood burning furnace..people don’t understand how work it takes to maintain the lifestyle in many ways it’s no picnic
Nice video! Thank you for the update!
So weird for me watching this. So hot and humid where i am at the moment ( Brisbane, Australia) i dream about a cold day like this! Love your work Kyle, please keep it up! Awesome vids, my kids love watching too :)
Thanks for sharing
Kyle, I feel like a crybaby thinking about getting up in the morning to 17 degrees here in South Carolina. I can't wait until the days of working is over with. Maybe this year. My boyfriend has a wood stove and it heats his entire house. Ya'll have beautiful chickens.
That's why it's always good to have a workshop around even a small before building any cabin just so when y don't feel like going out, with all the wood around the workshop will keep you busy ... For now I would suggest you look at one of those small-portable workbench videos and make one for you ... And lighten the cabin will you even with candles but if you'll use oil lamps that will give a better look at the cabin at night
I recently discover your channel, I like your content and personality, keep it up !!!
Nice 👍
video tuyệt vời cảm ơn bạn đã chia se chúc bạn ngày mới vui ve ❤❤❤❤
Yep, too cold out, think I'll just stay in and binge watch Kyle's cabin and Skeeter springs homestead!
Cold 🥶❄️ cold windy in Richmond Hill Ontario Canada -28 tonight with wind chill
Good vid. That's just how it is. If you try to do much you just tear something up or get hurt. Pace yourself. One needs a workshop type place to work in. You can only do so much when it's that cold. Feed the stove. Take care
I'm super good at killing time that for sure :)
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time. May the lord bless and protect you and your foul.I lived up north and heated with wood and enclosed my well house
Sometimes a person looks forward to a good cold snap, so they can do nothing but keep warm and just rest and relax, so the body gets a chance to heal.
Stay warm guys
Ya, we had -39C! Better now. 👍🇨🇦😎❄🔥💫
Nice work Kyle!
Thanks again for sharing Kyle
Cool, better you than me ! lolol 12 degrees here in GA this morning where I live, very rare !
Grew up in the upper Midwest though I live in the South now. There is just a particular sound that walking in snow makes when temps are really cold. LOL.
