Witcher 1 had the best atmosphere of the trilogy, i will never forget this experience, and i'm very glad that when i learned about witcher in 2019 i started with first game.
Same for me, at first, I started with the third game, but couldn't get past the tutorial as I didn't understand at all what was going on. Then thankfully, I tried the first game, which managed to keep me interested to the lore and the complex characters. And now after playing the games and reading the books, the Witcher is my favorite franchise of all time.
I am currently playing the first game, I am stuck fighting the beats, permastunned, almost uninstalled but something could not let me, I really want to play this game through
@@elvenadohostil8607if you are having trouble with The Beast - it's a bit RNG to be fair; fight while drunk or alcohol debuff. There is a perk in the Strength or Endurance tree that makes you stun resistant while drunk. Always have Swallow and Tawny Owl (Nigredo variant if you can)on, also makes sure you got Specter Oil from either Kalkstein or the local Herbalist/Witch. You can get it for free through her little quest and the right dialogue choices, if I recall... I think you don't have the right potion receipe at that point in the game, however you can make potions if you guess right combinations. I made Argentia oil by experimenting back in CH 1 on my first play through lol I beat the game with many builds and its doable with all. I think Signs buildis are weakest early game but a simple strat to cheese the Beast is casting Aard and hoping for a critical stab you can 1 shot The Beast. So buffing Aard is nice but ruins your build in the long run...unless you power-level on CH2 in the Cockatrice lair during a certain window of the plot
Same, many people complain W1 is dated but I got into the series in December 2017 or early 2018. It thought the game was good especially considering the game was "garage and friends" made. Sure something feel incomplete and haphazardly padded but the game is solid. Finally, I see other people mention the atmosphere in W1, I feel W2 and W3 never captured the atmosphere again. W3 came close with White Orchard and Velen but lighting and shader were off. I feel W3 has more cartoon vibe despite having better models and textures. Its the debate of TLOZ:Ocarina of Time and then going Wind Waker. Also Geralt's voice and combat animations are amazing. It had balance of HEMA and fantasy. Even in the cinematics Geralt fights like an actual fencer and not some dude with a baseball bat shaped like a sword.
I played the witcher 2 a while back. recently finished the witcher 1, and started on my second playthrough on the witcher 2 :) fantastic games, can't wait for the witcher 3 :)
I loved the witcher 2 and the story and plot change whether you chose iorveth or roach there's a whole other half of the game you miss out on according to your choice. I love the way the story makes everyone despicable and schemeing in there own way. Maybe you didn't like that there was no big bad guy that you were fighting (I guess Letho could be considered it but thats all perspective really) but to me that made it much more realistic
The first three- Blood of Elves, Time of Contempt and Baptism of Fire have been made to English, along with The Last Wish which is I suppose the original Witcher book made from short stories of Geralt of Rivia
I would do anything just to forget about this game so i can experience playing it again for the first time.. best story ever made, better than every film or whatever..
I;m loving the witcher 2 so much that I want to know the story of the first one, as I;m not a pc gamer is there a way i can read the story? I've heard that the books haven't been made in English yet
I think I prefert W1 to W2. I loved the combat system, very funny and original. The potion gameplay was more flexible (no need to be in yoga style to drink it) and the universe seemed more personnal than W2. W2 combat system was just... boring... a sensation to be in a beat them all + a very strange difficulty (too hard sometimes, too easy sometimes). The script was different but very great but... I prefered the poetic personnality of W1.
yea I guess I never contemplated the loss of storyline, but that's not all that new, where as not helping a person or helping them can make 2 or 3 of your mission impossible, I guess the comparison is similar to Fabel/Fable 1.5 and Fable 2 or 3, while the plot twist and story line in the 2nd game is well played and thought out I find a few problems with its translation from the 1st
well that ending was supposed to mean that even tough you have destroyed salamandra and order of the flaming rose you didnt kill everything they created (or at least let you wonder about it)
It took me 80 hours for the first play through so I was kind of disappointed that witcher 2 was so much shorter. But I loved both of them. Not playing many games nowday but I ll definitely go back to being a gamer and get a ps4 just for witcher 3 (and MGS phantom pain)
Oh, I remember how people used to argue how Alvin wasn't Aldersberg on CDPR forums. And by "people" I mean those who didn't pay attention to important hints suggesting that he was.
That's actually a nice recap tho I hope gameplay wise the expected remake will actually fix the whole "take a side" aspect of the game when it comes to the scoia tael because actually playing the original all major choices if you go through all side quests or take a minute to analyze the motives they go like "Ye the squirrels have a point *5 seconds later down the quest* actually no, f*ck those pretentious murderous arseholes" and you end up with a flaming rose or at best neutral side ending.
ah, only if the combat was just a little less repetitive (maybe something like Game of Thrones RPG Game's mechanics considering the year) and I hadn't known all the major points mentioned in here anyway (from witcher 2 and other unfortunate spoilers I encountered :P) ... I stopped playing at some point after Triss takes us back from the fight near the tower
TW series, the game ill gladly tell my son once he is old enough, that i have played when i was younger. And i purchased legit copies just in case he wants to try it also. :) a very unforgettable adventure.
I'm unsure as to the timeline but I do think Demavend was assassinated before that first attempt... As for the 3 witchers we meet, Letho does mention of 2 more witcher assassins which could include this one...
Well that assassin could've just been cocky, and decided to try and kill Foltest before Letho could formulate a good plan. Or it could be that CD Project was still writing The Witcher 2 and hadn't decided on the plot of everything yet.
They forgot the part where Geralt sleeps with over 20 women. Triss, elves, half elves, dryad, vampire, siren, princess...the list goes on lmao! Ah memories, love the witcher series!
the game is awesome the fight style takes a little time to get it right, the whole story is amazingly pre thought out and even the smallest decision you make in the witcher #1 will effect how the game plays, in retrospect to this the witcher 2 was a horribly shallow game with the soul purpose of it being to just kill stuff, while the graphics of The Witcher #1 are fairly old story and gameplay wise the game is far superior to its later counterpart
When i played the game in the mirror when you kill Azzar Javed, it wasnt Jacques De Aldersberg, it was Radovid! SO i was like WTF!! when i saw this video. Did this happen to some one else too? or was it just me?
This is said from the perspective of a contemporary chronicler. In truth, no one except Geralt, and partly Dandelion, knew of Alvin's true fate. I do agree that the skirmish between the Order and the Scoia'tael in Murky Waters should have been covered.
Wticher 2 has great atmosphere, visuals, good gameplay, great finisher moves,..etc But I absolutely hate a few things: - The annoying lack of fast travel.. You end up running around the whole time - The awful Hub system, meaning the map is restricted and there is a lack of replayability or longevity - No freeroam whatsover, basically it's a linear game, you cannot just take a breath and stay in Floatsom while doing jobs, and travel around.. You constantly are on the clock - Zero replayability incentive.. What's the point, it's like watching a movie (linear gameplay), then once you are done, why would you re-watch..
The only reason it is harder is because they simplified the combat system. While removing the group combat, you are forced to use the simple fighting which fits only on 1 on 1 combat. You must always get back after each kill so you don't get yourself killed, which is stupid and boring beside The Witcher 1 group fighting.
Fuck it! ALL of you who Watched this Video and haven't played the 1st game, SHOULD PLAY that 1st GAME either way!!! It's a game from 2007, I know... It's old... BUT ITS A DAMN FINE GAME for its TIME and unique! And the story-telling is engaging! I don't regret having to play it to follow the story of the Witcher 2 and yes, the trailers of the 3rd upcoming game made buy Witcher 1 and 2 on Steam. I LOVE THE WITCHER games! i would love to read its books too! ^_^
Many speculate that he was, and he probably is. But Alvin is not the only existing source, and others could have the same abilities and also obtained a necklace like Alvin's.
I read them in original language, sorry. But the english version exists, so I bet you can find it in any decent bookshop (it was a bestseller in europe) and at least on internet (look on Ebay and Amazon ).
The Professor in the game is different from the one in the book. In the Polish version of the game he is called 'Magister' (which is a Polish word for a person with MA title), it was a clever word play that didn't work out that well after translation of the game into English.
I believe i read in the books that Geralt killed the proffesor while looking for Ciri...And as a spoiler , the emperor of nilfgaard is ciri's dad,and a former friend of gerald,he removed a cruse from him long ago,the wild hunt are crazy elfs who escaped to another world when the worlds colided , i forgot the name of that event it's in some books in the game.I hope i get to see Villentretenmerth in witcher 3.
This recap is only useful if you've played Witcher 1 and just wanted to be reminded of everything that happened. The events in this recap go from point to point way too quickly and gloss over so many gotchas that seem to raise more questions than it answers, if you have no context for what's happening.

The Witcher III is a major step down from The Witcher II in every possible way.

Well put together CD Project. A good rundown of the First Game.
