I've been lucky enough to avoided using complex BGAs since I started designing and manufacturing my own electronics, but eMMC just doesn't come in any other package flavour, and though I've hand placed a few eMMC BGAs before, and have even run some 4 ball 1x1mm BGAs for my TinyWATCH - PnPing eMMC is a whole new experience!
This is the very first panel of my new Storage Shield, and the first time I am PnPing eMMC on my Juki.... fingies and toes crossed it's successful!
Spoiler - It was... an my new Storage Shield is available now at:

That PnP moves so fast!
I want a setup like that in my garage, but probably a bit overkill for what that setup must have cost!
Yeah, this is not a "garage" setup type of PnP. But there are plenty smaller spec machines on the market that you can run in your garage. I did that for many years.
Nice! Great Job!
Quite impressive.
Thanks mate :)
Nice one mate! Pretty serious pitch to be grappling with
Squeaktastic to the MAX !!
Excellent work!
I used to do SMT years ago. Always anxious when BGAs involved. More than one picked on the head at a time?, and without xray? And all pass? That's awesome well done!
Yeah, I'm not sure how the RS-1R is doing vision on multiple, but it definitely is. Placed 24 boards and got 24 passes :)
Very cool!
Seems like you have builded somekind of camera setup before reflow to check placement of component! Would be great to see that setup because i have blanned to build something like that to myself also! Is there any problems with setup? Does the picture shake when PnP machine is running etc?
The camera is not attached to the PnP, it's connected to the exiting conveyor, so there's no movement or shake when the PnPn is running.
How do you know if placement was good without powering them up? Thanks UM
BTW, you're one bad ass dude!
I can't know without buying an x-ray inspection machine, which is why placement accuracy is critical. AND I'm not the one with 2000W lazorz! Talk about bad ass!
awesome work! was it a 100% success rate?
It was! I ended up running a second panel once I’d checked the first and it was 💯 on both!
What are the dimensions of that panel?
