OMG I just found this channel, you are an absolute delight Liz, thankyou so much for this tutorial, I'm only 7 months into learning this magical instrument at 59yrs and this tune is very achievable for me what a beautiful tune. You deserve a patreon sign up from me. Much thanks from Australia. XX
This reminds me of an episode of a show about some relatives who settled in North America from England. It is a bad show, but I actually found your channel searching for another tune played beautifully on another episode of that same show. The tune was Riley Le Beau.
Fantastic tutorial, excellent pacing. I have been learning violin for the past year and recently picked up the mandolin as well; I used this video to learn it on the mando in one sitting and look forward to practicing on the violin soon. Thanks!
YES! So sorry for my mistake. I had a note about that in the description but eventually decided to go in and chop out that little piece of the video where I said it was Irish.
Great Video, beautiful harmonies. I have been to Aran Island off Galway (I assume that's where the song came from). It's a beautiful place. Yes.... this tourist bought one of the sweaters there. I think Dorian was in my 3rd grade class, nah maybe it was her sister Lydian.
Hey Liz, Thanks alot for share your wisdom! I learn song on a single day (thanks to you) i was really satisfiying. What do you think about add other ornamentations on this song?
Oh, I'm glad you enjoyed it, Luís! There are SO many ways you could ornament this song. A lot of that is up to the individual musician. Maybe I'll make another video someday with more variation options for this one!
Yes, and thank you - I always appreciate when folks let me know about something I was mistaken about / misspoke in one of my videos! I had a note in the description correcting the error but eventually decided to go in and just edit the video. I apologize to all the Scots!

Thank you! I like your teaching style. Looking forward to watching this video.
eautifulsong and excellent teaching. When I play or hear you play this song I get the same feeling as I do with The Dark Isle. Thank you for this.

Ah this makes me so happy!!
Would you please give some inputs for vibrato. I can't do it properly. Your technique is just marvelous. My best wishes for you.
One of my favorites you've done so far! ❤
Thank you, Laura! This tune is so near and dear to my heart. I've been playing it forever.
u know I am mad at you

Hahaha I love that. I think I'll name my future kids Mixolydian, Lydian, and Dorian.
Arran with two 'rr's in this instance refers to the the Isle of Arran in the Firth of Clyde off Scotland. Still worth visiting though!

Not Irish I'm afraid. Arran is a Scottish Island and this is a Scottish air. I know nobody likes a smarty pants, sorry. Lovely playing btw
