- Surah Al-Kahf (The Cave)
Al-Kahf (Arabic: الكهف) is the 18th chapter (Surah) of the Quran consisting of 110 verses. It tells the story of the believers in ancient time who when received the message of Truth accepted it. However, they were to face retaliation from the society they lived in and hence the flee from the city and found protection in a cave where Allah Almighty gave them sleep that lasted for centuries and till then their whole city had converted into believers. This Surah gives the message that those who believe in Allah, and ask for protection from Him, He gives them the best protection the likes of which the world has never seen.
“Whoever reads Surah al Kahf on the day of Jummah will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next.” (al-Jaami)
“One who memorized the first ten verses of Surah al Kahf will be secure against the Dajjal (Anti-Christ).” (Muslim)
Surah al Kahf is one of the renowned Surahs of Quran. Besides giving the message of Allah protecting those in miraculous ways who stick to righteousness and stay on the right path, the Surah also comes with a variety of virtues. It helps one expatiate from sins, gain blessings of Allah Almighty and prepare one’s self for the end of days. Therefore, every Muslim man and woman must try getting into the habit of reciting Surah al Kahf on regular bases.

Surah Al Kahf (The Cave) is almost entirely devoted to a series of parables built around the theme of true faith versus blind materialism. The key-phrase of the whole surah, "We have willed that all beauty on earth be a means by which We put men to a test, [showing] which of them are best in conduct" (18:7), is most clearly formulated in the parable of the rich man and the poor man. The story of the Men of the Cave and their devotion to the scriptures clearly illustrates the importance of the word in strengthening faith: being then deepened into an allegory of death, resurrection and eternal life. The story of Moses and the unknown sage reveals the ultimate limitation of worldly knowledge and, hence, humanity's reliance on moral guidance and spiritual insight conveyed through divine revelation. And, finally, the story of Dhu l-Qarnayn ("The Two-Horned One”) takes us on a journey:

After travels in the decadent West and naked Far East, Dhu l-Qarnayn reaches a place, “between the two mountain-barriers” where he helps the people build a defensive wall against the forces of Gog and Magog. In the preceding story of Moses and his search for knowledge, the journey becomes increasingly difficult after losing the fish and so they return to the rock by the sea. Muhammad withdrew to the cave, Jesus walked in the wilderness, and Moses wandered across the desert where, at the junction between the two seas, they found the word of God.
26:63 Thereupon We inspired Moses thus: "Strike the sea with thy staff!" - whereupon it parted, and each part appeared like a mountain vast.
As worldly knowledge accumulates over the generations through the cumulative efforts of predominantly secular minds, the living word withers and gets left behind. Men of great mental capacity and strong intuition, Messengers bear the teachings of their people into the wilderness where, at the rock of devotional faith, they bring the word back to life between two seas of knowledge. Those lost in the town, however, aren't really interested and some actively oppose the message thereby incurring the wrath of God. The message-bearer leads the faithful to salvation and spiritual development progresses. This process entered its final phase with the revelation of the Quran and as science reaches the very limits of human comprehension the "ayat mutashabihat" have been left somewhat behind.
3:7 He it is who has bestowed upon thee from on high this divine writ, containing messages that are clear in and by themselves - and these are the essence of the divine writ - as well as others that are allegorical.
The above passage is the key to the understanding of the Quran. The "ayat muhkamat" or “essence of the divine writ” are those verses that comprise the fundamental principles underlying the message of the Quran, in particular, its ethical and social teachings. The "ayat mutashabihat" or "allegorical passages" are those verses that are expressed figuratively, with a meaning that is metaphorically implied but not directly stated. And it is only through faithful application of the clear moral teachings (the iron blocks) - built-up between intellectual endeavour and deep contemplative thought - that the spiritual insight contained within the allegorical passages (the protective copper) can be fully understood and finally applied....

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:
"The Messenger of 'Allah designated Dhul-Hulaifah as the Miqat for the people of Al-Madinah, Al-Juhfah for the people of Ash-sham, Qarn for the people of Najd, and Yalamalam for the people of Yemen. He aid: "They are for them and for those who pass by them who are not of their people who intend to perform Hajj and 'Umrah. If a person's place of residence is within the boundary of the Miqat, then (he should enter into Ihram) from where he starts his journey, and this also applies to the people of Makkah.''
أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ وَقَّتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لأَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ ذَا الْحُلَيْفَةِ وَلأَهْلِ الشَّامِ الْجُحْفَةَ وَلأَهْلِ نَجْدٍ قَرْنًا وَلأَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ يَلَمْلَمَ قَالَ " هُنَّ لَهُمْ وَلِمَنْ أَتَى عَلَيْهِنَّ مِمَّنْ سِوَاهُنَّ لِمَنْ أَرَادَ الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ وَمَنْ كَانَ دُونَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ حَيْثُ بَدَأَ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ ذَلِكَ أَهْلَ مَكَّةَ " .

Best Dua for Seeking Forgiveness (Syed-ul-Istighfar)
Shaddad bin Aus (Radhi Allah Anh) said: Prophet Muhammad (Sal Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said, “The best supplication for seeking forgiveness (Syed-ul-Istighfar) is to say:
اَللّٰهُمَّ اَنْتَ رَبِّيْ ، لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِيْ وَاَنَا عَبْدُكَ ، وَاَنَا عَلَی عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ ، اَبُوْءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ ، وَ اَبُوْءُ بِذَنْبِي ، فَاغْفِرْ لِيْ ، فَاِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوْبَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
Allâhumma Anta Rabbî, lâ ilâha illâ Anta, khalaqtanî wa anâ 'abduka, wa anâ 'alâ 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, a'ûdhu bika min sharri mâ sana'tu, abû'u laka bini'maktika 'alayya, wa abû'u bidhanbî, faghfir lî, fa innahu lâ yaghfirudh-dhunûba illâ Anta
O Allah! You are my Rabb. There is no true god except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave, and I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge the favors that You have bestowed upon me, and I confess my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon
Whoever makes this dua during the day with firm belief in it and dies on the same day (before the evening) he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah (Paradise); and whoever makes this dua during the night with firm belief in it and dies before the morning, he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah (Paradise).”
