Dude Climbs Pole To Evade Police During Standoff | Los Angeles

- 11.29.2022 | 12:30 AM | LOS ANGELES - LAPD officers responded to reports of a shooting.
Arriving units did not find a shooting victim.
However, they located a man on the fence of a nearby school refusing to come down.
Officers and firefighters attempted to negotiate with the man for nearly 2 hours to get him off the fence.
The man somehow sliced his foot when he was up there.
The man tried to climb a light pole, however, he failed.
LAPD eventually gave up and left.
The man eventually climbed onto a part of the electrical pole assembly, where he continued to sit.

No , in situations like this police clear back from the scene a little bit so that the mentally unstable person calms down enough to where they climb down from where they are so they don't wind up getting hurt , the guy wasn't posing a threat to others at the time so they deemed it safe enough to back away and allow him some space to calm down and surrender.
