It was not a matter of not seeing the other aircraft. It was the problem of identifying the wrong aircraft as a potential hazard. Too many aircraft in the pattern/approach procedure at the same time.

Unfortunately, the helicopter was flying in an established flight path as well. Helicopters use the same airports, the same airspace, and the same or similar flight paths as airplanes.

Listen I’ve been dealing with Joe Biden’s FAA for 5 years since my dad died. They were incompetent. Couldn’t even run spell check as my dad’s name is misspelled in the horribly late final report into his death.

@@coryhebert2070I agree that it is more important to understand if any policy or procedure changes occurred that may have had a direct effect. Hopefully they will be transparent so that we can know either way (eg: no changes / changes) so that a full picture can prevent this re-occurring.

CLEARLY the ACT messed up majorly, he never specified the other plane OR direction so the helicopter pilot just went with the knowledge he was given. they shouldn't of had the black hawk there but this is something the ATC definitely messed up with

The unit involved is responsible for VIP and diplomatic transport at that airport. Their specific job is to fly into that specific airport. The only way to train to fly into that airport is to fly into that airport. Civilian pilots do the same thing at that airport. Unfortunately, separating the two is not practical.
