Sewing Friends, this is for you per your request! Let me know if this tutorial is done good, because I haven't done too many tutorial videos and I am still learning! Thank you for all your feedback in advance and I hope you make many wonderful flutter sleeve blouses and dresses! SEW UP A STORM!
Love these concise tutorials! Please keep them coming! the 20 minute tutorials which have 2 scattered minutes of info are quite annoying ;) I will say I had to sort of think through how to get the overlap pinned because I wasn't sure how to taper that offset, but all good, and I'll definitely be doing this again!! Thank you!
this tutorial is amazing! I've been wanting to change the sleeves on several of my tops and I love the flutter sleeve. Thank you! I'm learning alot from you
Thank you! This was a very easy and helpful hack! I found it easier to sew a small stitch to hold the ‘V’ under the armpit seam in place. I also transferred my original patterns notches and sewed two lines of gathering stitches between my notches which helped with the fit. Thanks!
Just WOW !!! I have been searching for a video that explains how these sleeves are made !!! So glad I found your video, here. TYSM for sharing this with us.
I just did a search on google because I want my shirt to have a flutter sleeve and got so excited to see that you did a video. I going to watch after dinner. I’m sure it’ll be great. 😁
Hello, hello stranger! So great to see you here again, I have some fun pottery makes to share with you - I will post on IG. How's your sewing going? What are you up to?
I love your videos. I’m 74 this month and love to learn. I’m not always so good but I love the challenge. Thanks for such good instructions!! I’m going to add this to a pattern a FB group has lots of negative to say. I’m up for the challenges!! I was hoping this would be a Mother’s Day dress but might be a nightie!! 😊
Helen, hello there! Don't listen to any negativity, I am not sure which FB group you are talking about, but this is a very easy transformation from regular sleeve to a flutter sleeve. I made quite a few tops like that - have fun and enjoy!
Elena, awesome! I am happy it turned out well - it takes a bit to write out the steps so that it is explained well, especially for something that you do automatically without even thinking! :)
So happy! It is great to hear - I will continue thinking of better ways to film tutorials, seems like a quick 3 min video, but takes a lot of planning :) you will def need to show us what you make (post a link to your IG, if you want) :) Thank You!
This is just what I need. A character in one of our soaps has worn a really pretty blouse with flutter sleeves but I couldn't find a pattern that was remotely like it. I particularly like your method of reducing bulk underarm. I'm good to go now.
Have the mental image of a dress I want to make (Based off of a top I have that I LOVE, and want to add a gathered rectangle skirt where the tops peplum bottom starts) but had no idea how to change the sleeves to the style I want (Plan to layer it in colder seasons with a snug thermal long-sleeve. Feel like these sleeves or maybe lantern sleeves would be perfect for the year-round use I want. Hopefully now I can bring my dress into reality! ❤️
Hi Alisa, this video was very useful and I hope to try it out soon! Joy Bernhardt mentioned how she enjoys your videos, so I have subscribed and look forward to catching up on plenty more! Kind regards from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊
I'm wondering if you have a tutorial of your blue top in this video? I found the knot in the back looks good❤ This is exactly what I want my sleeve, thank you.
I can't believe I had not seen this video before. Amazing... just what I was looking for. Alisa, as an older woman, my upper arms are not as nice as they once were. Can this sleeve be lengthened to just above the elbow? Or, would you recommend a different style with light sleeve design.
I totally hear you, most of the times I like to cover my upper arms as well. You can certainly lengthen this one, but I think a circle sleeve, which is even easier to make might be a better choice for your idea. Here's a video how to do it, it is the first sleeve in the video - th-cam.com/video/LpcNE_dl0l8/w-d-xo.html
@@ThoughtfulCreativity Alisa, thank you so much for responding to my question. I knew you would have a solution for me. You are so kind. ❤ Now, on with my project... 🤗
I wanted to add this sleeve to my bodice block. I need help at 2:24 mark. overlap the corners of the sleeve. you have the sides sewn so you are doing inset sleeve. but the sleeve is not sewn. and you are overlapping. I see that but doesn't the sleeve have to be sewn and then inset? and if you do that how would you overlap? I hope you can help as I am at that stage now! I can't quite get it. If I sew the sem in the sleeve, I can't overlap. If I don't sew the sem I have a raw edge and it open under the arm. If I hemed the sides it would still be open seam under the arm. thanks for any help.
Kathy, hello there, you can do it either way. you don't even have to overlap, just all up to you. If you want to overlap the sleeves and secure that part before you insert the sleeve - then measure the armhole length and compare to the sleeve length, the difference between the two will give you the overlap amount. You can also just simply pin it and see if you have the room to overlap.
That's a great tutorial, thank you so much! which sleeve size of the toronto tee did you use for the second smallest gbsb tunic pattern? I would like to make the same top and i am the same size as you:) and did you use the zipper for the tunic or how did you finish the back seam, i noticed they are different in the white flowery top and the blue one and they are both so beautiful!
Linda, it was a digital cotton print from eBay, quality great to except for the fact tha the print wasn't on the grainline and therefore it made it a pain in a butt to work with :)
@@ThoughtfulCreativity Well, you'd never know the grainline was off because you did an excellent job of positioning the pattern while maintaining the straight drape of the fabric. The layout is beautiful. Thank you so much for responding!
Hi there, what an valuable tutorial. Could you please please show us how to cut a kaftan for casual wear (at home). My bra sz is 38" please explain how to do a loose fitting kaftan. Keep up your good work. Kaly From Sri Lanka
Great tutorial.. But what will I going to download the base of the top? coz when I go on that link so many options there, what link do I need to download for base of the top? Basic dress or Basic blouse with collar?

@@edzkeeedzkee8276 absolutely, it was the second smallest size and I cut it waist length!

Go to my channel and use one of the tutorials to draft your own sleeve, as your sleeve needs to match the bodice that it is made for.
