I have been a notoriously weak bencher and did a lot of trampoline/bouncing off my chest previously and had hard stalls and too much intensity and failure training. Now im doing 3 main pressing days a week-weighted dip focus, one day strictly floor press because the mid range and no stretch reflex are both my weakness and on my bench day(I do incline) while having long arms. I do light touches(no sinking) with a moderately close grip and more focused on building volume vs pushing intensity and the light touch has helped a ton. Also a relatively close grip translates directly to my OHP and weighted dips. If I go up on those other lifts, eventually there is a cascade to bench anyways. Just focused on front squats for this block so no general input there but my deadlift goes up by doing almost anything so long as im healthy and mobile. When I find stalls in deadlift I might do more front squats or on day 2 do RDLs for volume/beltless which is helping lockout dramatically and gives me more awareness of glutes and staying upright and rigid with my core. I also sometimes do deficits, pauses, band-work, etc. I know its general knowledge but on my weaker lifts or the ones that are less explosive I find staying away from failure and burnout as long as possible while adding volume is one of the most successful approaches for me. You cant be explosive if you are always grinding reps.

You can tell how passionate you are about coaching, you definetly shouldn't be shy about advertising your coaching man!
I'm week 5 into Average to Savage 2.0 and its going really well, but I think / and been told my technique is my biggest limiting factor. When I''ve run through this program I'd be interested on your coaching for sure.

It’s my life and I love it! Without coaching and the gym life everything would be a lot more dull for me.
Average to savage is good linear program that’s built well for a mass population program. Hit us up whenever and we’d love to have you!

Agree with you on the full grip for squat. I used thumbless for years and it worked. Started following the IPF guys like you just said and noticed the same thing, most of them use full grip. Was uncomfy for a while when I switched but found I'm able to keep bar in place much better throughout the sets.

Squat and deadlift are pretty easy to get up by doing it less often imo. I wish it could be easier to do them regularly which would result in more strength but the CNS fatigue at higher weights as a natural is just too much even if you feel fine.

  • @xinsanedefeatx

Funny you say you got the full grip from IPF lifter cause I think of Russ who has an open grip and he’ll literally roll 300kg+ on every single rep. To me it always looks like he lacks shoulder mobility so when he bottoms out his elbows come forwards and the bar rolls towards his finger tips. Seems like such an obvious power leak but hey dude just hit a 1900+ gym total so 🤷‍♂️

I have been sharing your videos absolutely high quality info and love how passionate you are!
I changed 3 small things to my bench and increased my max 5kg+ plus in literally one week time because it was all technique faults.
I tried going for 50kg tempo with pause, absolute grind instead of being RPE 8 ended up being a 10, to last Friday 50kg looking like a warm-up weight th-cam.com/video/dBvIpQRDNEs/w-d-xo.html
    1) Your video on how to activate lats the right way. I wasn't activating them as much as I should have and as soon as I started doing it visually how you and Kristin were in the video it was a massive difference from my previous training videos. You can now see the moment I use my lats after unracking.
    2) Bryce Krawczyk's video ft. Connor Lutz. They spoke about grabbing the barbell harder with your thumb. Absolutely changed my elbow position and gave an efficient bar path.
    3) Thepanash (video is in French) I minimized my unracking distance, just using triceps to unrack, have the barbell in position to press. I moved further back on the bench, the barbell is now around my chin before unracking versus before above my eyes.
