    Just subbed and loving your straightforward and informative commentary. Very helpful for a wannabe off-grid caravaning couple. Got a few of your vlogs to catch up on. Safe travels. Cheers Mate.

      Thanks heaps for the subscribe!! I try to keep everything straight down the line to make it easy to follow. For me it’s all about presenting the places we go as accurately as possible because that’s really what we do it for! I do have another video in the pipeline where I’ve installed a shunt for use with our inverter and extra solar which is critical for accuracy of the battery read out. There’s so much I wish I had known before we hit the road but there’s nothing like learning things the hard way!!

    Great video. Love your work. Can you show us how you got the extra solar panel wires into the van. Look forward to seeing more of your videos. Cheers.

    Hi guys first of all just started following you i was just watching your video on your solar system and you mentioned that you clean your solar panels with windex you shouldn’t use any chemical on your panels it leave a residue on them and if it’s left on for to long or you do it to often the it will put a film on your panels and they will not be able to work to there full potential cheers guys love what you are doing though
    Ps so you should just use water to clean the panels

      Thanks so much for the subscribe Tim!! Much appreciate the comments too. I will try to revise the video once we get to Darwin (currently travelling the Gibb River Road and have limited internet). Thanks again!

    Hey guy’s Projecta do a 500amp shunt for the intelli rv system that your van is using now which allows you to add inverter loads ect to the system. 👍

      Thanks heaps Wayne! Sounds like a great option, I'll jump straight on that!

    Compressor fridges are usually AC. You said the fridge is not run through the inverter, so how is the compressor motor being powered directly off the battery? Is it a 12v motor? Also, lithium batteries can accept higher charge currents, not voltage than AGM. AGM have a slow charge of about 10amps but you can easily push 30amps or more into lithium to charge them.

      Thanks for the comment mate. The fridge we have is the Dometic RUC8408X www.dometic.com/en-au/outdoor/rv-and-van/refrigerators/rv-refrigerators/dometic-ruc-8408x-263680 which is a 12/24v or 240v compressor fridge. It automatically senses when supplied with mains and switches over to 240v mode.
      I've still got a lot to learn about about DC systems hey :)

    Heyyy i just had a thought, sorry to come back here but whaat would your total wattage be on your inverter at any 1 time? (air con wattage) +any lights

    • @dreamtripaus
      @dreamtripaus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the only items we potentially run on the inverter would be the following:
      Microwave (~800watts)
      Dometic Ibis 4 AC (~1650watts)
      Sphere STL-330 washing mach (~235watts)
      Laptop/Starlink (~160watts)
      Approx Total = ~2770watts (If using all items at full power simultaneously).
      I never expect to run all these appliances simultaneously and will be careful not to exceed the rating of my inverter.
      All other devices run on 12 volts direct from the battery management system.
      It's important to remember when searching for a suitable inverter that you take into account some electronic devices can have higher peak power draw, particularly at start-up (sometimes referred to as 'in-rush').
      So it's better to over specify than under.
      Let me know if you have any other questions :)

      Yes its connected to the car as well

      @@morfasie in my setup I have a solar controller running my solar and the dcdc charger getting full amps while driving. And the solar on the dcdc charger is a ground deploy solar blanket . Because when ur Parked camping the vehicle isn't running so no alternator power

      @dreamtripaus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rawiri, yes the Enerdrive DCDC has a connection from the car alternator as well as the solar panels on the roof. When the car is stopped we get no power from the car, only the solar panels. We will also be getting a ground-deploy solar blanket for when we are parked in shade etc. :)

      @@dreamtripaus that's cool all I'm trying to say is instead of 40 amp it could be, 40 alternator + solar traveling 10 - 30amp while driving

      @@rawiridixon4430 yes good call, I hadn't thought of that! I'll read the manual to see how the Enerdrive unit handles that?!?!
